Obama sets press conference for 2 p.m. Tuesday
By JENNIFER EPSTEIN |
10/8/13 11:50 AM EDT
President Obama will make a statement and take questions from the press at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the White House said in updated guidance.
Obama last took questions from the White House press corps in early September, while traveling abroad in Sweden and Russia. His most recent full-scale press conference was on Aug. 9 in the East Room of the White House, just before he left Washington for a vacation on Martha's Vineyard.
With his long-planned trip to Asia this week cancelled because of the government shutdown, Obama is aiming to show that he's keeping up his involvement in resolving the situation, even as he repeats his refusal to negotiate on bills to fund the government and raise the debt ceiling.
-
Here's what he'll say:
"I've been willing to negotiate since the beginning but those mean old Republicans won't acquiesce to my demands."
"What about the debt ceiling?"
"There will be no negotiations. But I'm willing to negotiate. The Republicans are being obstinate."

President Obama will make a statement and take questions from the press at 2 p.m.
He will take questions? Oh, thank you, your Highness, thank you.
-
There is no reason to call a press conference for the purpose of simply reiterating one's position.
Assuming he has not chosen to abandon any of his obdurate policy stances, Obama may be doing so simply because he has not yet heard the sound of his own voice on TV today.

Yes, there's that, but he also be blue and feel the need for a dose of worship from the WH press corpse to cheer himself up. Their love is constant and uncritical.

That's it!
He will take questions but that doesn't mean he's going to answer any of them!

I'm guessing he's already got the reporters/questions planted.
-
He will take questions? Oh, thank you, your Highness, thank you.
From carefully selected people with the correct questions, I'm sure. :Obounce:
-
It will just be more lies, half-truths, nuances, and blaming. Why watch that, unless your Chris Matthews :lubyou:
-
How many ways is he going to say he won't negotiate?
-
He will take questions? Oh, thank you, your Highness, thank you.
Yeah, here's a sample:
Obama media: How is this John Boehner's fault?
Obama media: Just how crazy is the Tea Party?
Obama media: Are Republicans trying to damage the country?
Obama media: All hail our lord and savior!

This shutdown is about one thing only: Obamacare. This has nothing to do w/ the credit limit.
Brad Dayspring @BDayspring 41s

They are afraid of the sob. They would rather he get away with a lie than confront his lies.

That isn't fear, it's worship. They know they should ask some real questions, and they want to appear as if they are "hard hitting reporters", but they want to protect their lord at all costs. It's a delicate balance to attempt to appear as if you're scrutinizing when you're really fawning.

No....it's fear that they would not only lose their livelihood but also but they would also become targets of the administration.
Better to just STFU until you see some "important" and powerful people initiate the charge.

I disagree. I think most of the media wouldn't do anything to intentionally harm Obama.
