Breaking on the WashPo.
McCabe, who had stepped down from his post earlier this year but remained an FBI employee, had been accused by the Justice Department’s inspector general of authorizing the disclosure of sensitive information to a reporter and misleading investigators when asked about it.
McCabe had been a lightning rod in the political battles surrounding the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server and special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe into whether any Trump associates coordinated with Russian agents to interfere in the 2016 presidential race.
McCabe ran the FBI for three turbulent months last year, assuming the director’s job on an acting basis after James B. Comey was fired in May. McCabe was hoping to retire Sunday, when he becomes eligible for his full benefits. With his firing, he could lose a significant portion of those benefits.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.

Wow.
-
Oh good..I thought Sessions would chicken out...
Fox covering it now...
-
Wow, that's great! I think tomorrow (or today, being a workday) was the last day it could be done before he could retire with full benefits.
-
I hope this breaches the Great Wall of Clinton.
-
That's a start.
-
That's a start.
Amen! He should be arrested and taken into custody.
General Flynn sold his house to pay attorneys and copped a plea of guilty to 'lying'...when the FBI reported in their summary they though Flynn hadn't lied. (This was known last year, but withheld because of a pending book deal ....it could have stopped this 'investigation' flat.
That said, he's probably not fretting the loss of $1.8 retirement benefits, since Hillary will write him a check as a Clinton Foundation 'Consultant'.
....just don't go fishing on that lake, Andrew.

McCabe: My firing is part of effort to undermine Mueller probe
“The idea that I was dishonest is just wrong. This is part of an effort to discredit me as a witness,†McCabe told The New York Times.
“It’s incredibly unfair to my reputation after a 21-year career,†McCabe told The Times.
He also criticized President Trump for attacking him, the FBI and other agency officials.
“The real damage is being done to the FBI, law enforcement and the special counsel,†McCabe said.
-
When is the inspector generals report supposed to be released?
And what will Sessions do with it???

I'm predicting here that President Trump is going to fire Mueller...AFTER the IG reports come out. They're supposed to be EXPLOSIVE.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions late Friday night fired former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, a little more than 24 hours before McCabe was set to retire.
Sessions announced the decision in a statement just before 10 p.m., noting that both the Justice Department Inspector General and the FBI office that handles discipline had found “that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor — including under oath — on multiple occasions.â€
He said based on those findings and the recommendation of the department’s senior career official, “I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately.â€

I just caught Dershowitz on Fox as I was going to bed.... had to get back up, take a shot for this.
I thought Dersh was fair enough... for Dersh. The girls were all giddy, funny watching the four of them talking over each other.
Interesting times... interesting times.

The NYT and the left are crying foul and blaming Trump but there is a Huge Problem pushing this narrative!
The Office of Professional Responsibility is the one that recommended the firing!

Sessions fires McCabe before he can retire
Trump had repeatedly attacked the veteran FBI official
by Pete Williams / Mar.16.2018 / 10:02 PM ET / Updated 10:53 PM ET

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Jeff Sessions late Friday night accepted the recommendation that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who took the reins of the agency during the turbulent days after the abrupt firing of James Comey, be terminated — two days before he was to retire and become eligible for full pension benefits.
Though McCabe — who has been attacked by President Donald Trump — stepped down as deputy director in late January, he remained on the federal payroll, planning to retire on Sunday. The firing places his federal pension in jeopardy.
Unlike Trump's removal of Comey last year, which produced widespread resentment inside the FBI, McCabe's termination was recommended by the agency he served for 21 years.
Sunday is McCabe's 50th birthday, which would have made him eligible for certain substantial retirement benefits.
The FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility proposed the termination, based on the findings of the Justice Department's inspector general. That office has been examining the bureau's handling of the Clinton e-mail investigation.

Sessions seems to have located his missing manhood ?
Lynch conference call, to Obama, Comey and McCabe, from Phoenix airport tarmac:
"Just talked with Hillary's husband. He says thanks. Proceed as planned. Let Peter look over the exoneration memo, before her interview."
"She agrees to be interviewed, if there is no recording or written notes, etc. Bill to approve the memo, as well."

I think they'll be okay @mystery-ak There are reports out there that McCabe is losing his *full* pension because he didn't reach age 50 (on Sunday). Best guess is he loses lifetime health insurance for himself and his family and the law enforcement enhancement of 1.7%. But I'm sure he'll be hired by CNN before sundown so this should cover his losses --- and don't forget the book deals.
Along with this income his wife is a pediatrician, so the family of four won't starve.

Hope so .. there will be one helluva discovery phase.

..and I expected them to take the position that FBI's Human Resources was closed at 5pm, Friday, and the order from Sessions to fire him couldn't be enforced until Monday...when the offices opened up again.
Too late to grab his pension.

Yes, you did. Man up.

Sessions Statement:
"Pursuant to Department Order 1202, and based on the report of the Inspector General, the findings of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility, and the recommendation of the Department’s senior career official, I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately."
"After an extensive and fair investigation and according to Department of Justice procedure, the Department’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provided its report on allegations of misconduct by Andrew McCabe to the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR)."
The FBI’s OPR then reviewed the report and underlying documents and issued a disciplinary proposal recommending the dismissal of Mr. McCabe. Both the OIG and FBI OPR reports concluded that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor − including under oath − on multiple occasions.
"The FBI expects every employee to adhere to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and accountability. As the OPR proposal stated, 'all FBI employees know that lacking candor under oath results in dismissal and that our integrity is our brand.'"

-
McCabe's statement:
"This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally," McCabe said. "It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day. Their persistence in this campaign only highlights the importance of the Special Counsel’s work.
"For the last year and a half, my family and I have been the targets of an unrelenting assault on our reputation and my service to this country," McCabe continued. "Articles too numerous to count have leveled every sort of false, defamatory and degrading allegation against us. The President’s tweets have amplified and exacerbated it all. He called for my firing. He called for me to be stripped of my pension after more than 20 years of service. And all along we have said nothing, never wanting to distract from the mission of the FBI by addressing the lies told and repeated about us. No more."

Unless he has enough vacation days to make up the difference he didn't meet the age requirement to step down. I would certainly think that he had to be 'vested' after so many years and he would get those monies. I think you are correct, he may not be eligible to receive the 1.7% additional monies per year, but he's certainly not going to starve.

God, I hope the IG report has him dead to rights. He thinks he's above the law.
Well at that level when you see words like "candor" tossed around it's politi-speak for "honesty".
And it appears there is an issue with McCabes candor not only under oath but in interviews with the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility.
-
Unless he has enough vacation days to make up the difference he didn't meet the age requirement to step down.
Government workers get to retire at 50?
-
McCabe's statement:
Too late, Andrew. The FBI has already been tainted. Proof of that is the many failures (growing list) where the FBI was informed of potential threats but either due to incompetence or political correctness (liberalism).... chose not to act on those tips, costing many lives. Add to that the hypocrisy of the left re: accusing ANYONE ELSE of "tainting" law enforcement.... when the Obama administration and Holder DOJ deliberately "tainted" police throughout the nation to cater to and pacify "their people". It's a joke. A not funny one.
-
Government workers get to retire at 50?
I think if they've put in 20 years, they do.

Pretty amazing really. 20 years and benefits for life. And we get the bill for life without the benefits.

You got it. It may be the rule of 80 though, where age + time employed = 80 years before you can retire. But, if he's only 50 then it's unlikely.
-

Oh, that's right. I forgot the LEO thing.

In FL, Law enforcement can retire at age 55 with 10 years of service and at age 52 with 25 years of service. Those working in the Florida Retirement system are eligible for a Pension Plan benefit after six years of service (if they enrolled in the FRS prior to July 1, 2011) or eight years of service (if they enrolled in the FRS on or after July 1, 2011). Those who were vested earlier receive a larger COLA then those coming in later. Also it used to be that their pensions were fully contributed to by the State. Gov. Scott changed that so that the employees have to pay towards a portion of their pensions. Most employees however, work at a reduced wage in comparison to those in the public sector.
-
I think if they've put in 20 years, they do.
I think that's only in certain cases, under an early retirement benefit, such as involuntary separation without cause.
And Federal. Remember, most state and local government employees have far worse setups.

So I did some digging.
On the left is Comey’s testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on 5/3/17.
On the right is McCabe’s statement after being fired on 3/16/18.
The discrepancy here ***seems*** to indicate that, at the very least, either Comey or McCabe is lying.

I do feel sorry for McCabe's family, if he has any...they were counting on this pension too..oh well.
Is it true that McCabe's pension and benefits total $1.8 Million?
And they get to retire at age 50?
And This is how America defines 'Public Service'?
I don't feel one bit sorrier for McCabe's family than I would for the family of a tax sucking Leftist/Marxist University Professor who FINALLY got canned.
If He's only 50 then She's still got enough left in her to go hunt up another Sugar Daddy.

He will only see a portion of the $1.8 mil and will probably wind up receiving around $50,000/yr rather than $55,000/yr. I'm not sure if he lost medical benefits or not. He may take this to court and if he gets a liberal judge they may rule in his favor. IMHO, I think he'd be better off to count his loses and take what he's got left as he may be in a lot more trouble than he realizes.

The corrupt Federal Beast is too big to allow itself to be disrupted by petty notions of justice and lawfulness.
Especially when the 'law' only applies to us little people and they - in the ivory towers of power are exempt from any 'laws'.
Just remember this fact and historical truth: you cannot slow, stop or remove tyranny via civil means.
Period.
Neither can you impose the rule of law, on the lawless via civil institutions the have been corrupted.
