8 Best Shoes For Flat Feet, According To Podiatrists
By Tamekia Reece
Apr 26, 2018
An estimated 20 to 30 percent of the population has flat feet, a condition that occurs when
the arches flatten, allowing the soles of the feet to completely touch the floor while standing. Many issues can cause the condition. For some people, it's hereditary. Others develop flat feet as a result of pregnancy, aging, obesity, or a health condition such as rheumatoid arthritis or diabetes, according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

I have horribly flat feet and I find the Brooks Addiction better than whatever model they list in the article, and it comes in a Men's version.

I feel like I should be in a nursing home just reading this crap. Every shoe suggested looks like shit.

The only thing that makes a sneaker look good is a dump fire.

Did you see the article with the 14 ultra-comfy shoes you can buy at Bloomie's? If it's from Bloomingdale's it's got to be high fashion, right?

A colostomy bag costs a lot of money but that doesn't look good.

I'm positive Gillian Anderson has sneakers on under this long dress.

Well no, you can't wear them with a short dress, but it's sneakers all the way baby when no one's going to see them.

Maybe at the fire hall type of hillbilly events you frequent, but not out in the real world.

I have a pair of Brooks sneakers too. Best sneakers I’ve ever owned! And they are pink and purple!

Mine are flat enough to pull suction on a wet floor, and have been since birth. Never slowed me down, except I didn't go into the Service because I was told I'd just be rejected, anyway.
(Turns out folks with congenital flat feet tend to have fewer foot problems than folks with high arches.)

Yeah, no kidding. Plantar fasciitis is horrible.

QVC sells 2 brands that I buy and wear....Spenco and Vionic....both brands are good and stylish..

My dad had flat feet and was worried that the NAVY wouldn't take him in WWII. They took him. Sailors don't march too much.
I didn't get his feet. I'm always having to even double up on insoles to have enough arch support.

Checking for the Brooks shoe at the local store.

FYI, between a podiatrist and a great athletic shoe business that caters to runners here in town this is some info I can pass this information along.

See the grey and then dark grey area in the sole cushioning? That's the portion that is the support for people who overpronate. The longer it is, the more support for overpronation.

There are also foams with different densities, the denser the foam in that area the more support.

If only they had a pointed toe.

I buy my shoes at Walmart.
The cheapest I can find. ;)
-
Anyone ever buy Tom's shoes? The company that donates shoes to kids in Africa for every pair sold? They are supposed to be very comfortable
-
Yeah, no kidding. Plantar fasciitis is horrible.
I had Plantar fasciitis andAchilles tendinitis in the samre foot at the same time and had to work my construction job with it. The treatment for the tendinitis was, when I was receiving it at least to me, worse than the tendinitis pain. They drew some of my blood, spun out the platelets(at least as I recall) and then injected the platelets into my tendon, it was excruciating! I went through three times, the fourth time I went in they told me they no longer did the treatment because............it didn't work! Freakin Kaiser, that's just one reason why I will never sign with them again.

If by "shoes" you mean "women", I hear ya.

Not on this thread sister. Only the discussion of ugly shoes is to be maintained.
-
That first shoe is NOT a flat. It's a clodhopper. And the heel....you can get a lower heel without resorting to looking like a 1950s librarian.

Suction on a wet deck, built in swim fins... no wonder the Navy okayed flat feet. Nothing disparaging your dad (and thank him, if he is still around, for me) but the navy in WWII was taking lots of folks they wouldn't during the post Vietnam force reductions.
