Biden Looks to use Parole-in-Place to Grant Backdoor Amnesty to More than a Million Illegal Aliens

While the Biden Administration faces intense backlash for its self-created border crisis, it is doubling down and considering a mass amnesty for those on U.S. soil.  This time, the administration is reportedly zeroing in on the illegal alien spouses of U.S. citizens. The tool of choice is rumored to be another unlawful use of parole termed “parole-in-place,” an invented concept that has little to no statutory basis. Roughly 1.1 million aliens may be covered under the latest proposal.

Parole-in-place is yet another abuse of the limited parole authority provided under Section 212(d)(5) of the INA.  That section authorizes the government to grant parole (i.e. allow entry) to aliens who otherwise are inadmissible for temporary periods of time, on a case-by-case basis, for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.

Despite being intended for use in extraordinary circumstances – such as testifying in a trial or obtaining emergency medical care – the Biden Administration has distorted the statute beyond recognition.  First, the administration used parole to affect the mass release of aliens apprehended at the border.  Then the administration used parole to fly in hundreds of thousands of inadmissible aliens and allow them to remain indefinitely.  Now, the Biden administration is using parole-in-place to provide relief to aliens already inside the country.

Parole-in-place first surfaced in a 1998 memorandum under the Clinton Administration, which incredibly concludes that that since the law provides that aliens present in the U.S. without having been admitted or paroled are now considered “applicants for admission” they may be granted parole the same as arriving aliens.  In 2013, the Obama Administration released additional guidance aiming to offer parole-in-place to spouses, children and parents of U.S. Armed Services members.  Then, rather than curtailing this abuse of the statute, Congress included it in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020, directing the DHS Secretary to consider granting parole-in-place to military families.

Mexican Diplomat’s Dishonest Claims About Illegal Alien Law-Breaking Do Not Stand Up to Scrutiny

Mexican diplomats and politicians have a long history of lecturing Americans on illegal immigration, along with attempting to meddle in U.S. politics in ways that favor illegal aliens while undermining our border security and rule of law. The most recent example is Mexico’s consul in Oklahoma City protesting about an Oklahoma state law that aims to act against mass illegal migration at a time when the Biden administration refuses to do its job.

The statute in question is HB 4156, which passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives on April 18 by an overwhelming majority of 77 to 20. The state Senate passed it on April 23. Inspired by anti-illegal-immigration state legislation in Texas, “[t]he measure aims to crack down on illegal immigration in Oklahoma by creating the crime of impermissible occupation and requiring individuals to leave the state within 72 hours of their conviction or release from custody,” as explained by a press release issued by Oklahoma State Senator Casey Murdock. First-time offenders found guilty would be punished with a misdemeanor, a fine of up to $500, a year in jail, or both.

Predictably, the common-sense law has drawn criticism and attacks from pro-illegal-alien activists and lobbyists, and from Mexico’s consul in Oklahoma City, Edurne Pineda. Repeating standard open-borders euphemisms, Mrs. Pineda claimed that “ndocumented migrants” aka people “without papers” are “not criminals, and they do pay taxes. They work really hard” and “are here because they get employed, because your economy needs them.” She concluded that “criminalizing them is not going to solve anything, nor is it fair.”

Governor Inslee’s new program to subsidize the purchase of electric vehicles is so wasteful at reducing CO2 emissions, it is the equivalent of paying that absurd amount for a 16-ounce latte.


On Earth Day, Governor Inslee announced a $45 million program to subsidize the purchase or lease of electric vehicles.

The program is targeted at those making 300% of the federal poverty level or less, which amounts to $93,600 per year for a family of four.

More than five years ago, the world’s top climate scientists made a frightening prediction: If the planet warms by 1.5 degrees Celsius, relative to preindustrial times, 70 to 90 percent of coral reefs globally would die off. At 2°C, that number jumps to more than 99 percent.
 
In not so great news, the planet is now approaching that 1.5°C mark. In 2023, the hottest year ever measured, the average global temperature was 1.52°C above the preindustrial average, as my colleague Umair Irfan reported. That doesn’t mean Earth has officially blown past this important threshold — typically, scientists measure these sorts of averages over decades, not years — but it’s a sign that we’re getting close.

Polar bears have seen their numbers collapse in recent decades due to climate change. My focus on problems within science institutions stems from work on the Great Barrier Reef, where groupthink, emotion, and raw self-interest to maintain funding have resulted in a form of noble cause corruption. Polar bears are another great example of this. You’ll have seen lots of news stories about the loss of polar bears due to melting ice around the North Pole, featuring pictures of starving bears stranded on tiny melting pieces of ice, which look absolutely terrible.

Unlike coral, which grows faster in hotter climates, it makes sense to worry about polar bears in a warming climate. The North Pole ice has reduced over the last few decades. There is a debate as to how much of that reduction is part of natural variation, because we know over centuries the ice comes and goes. But that’s a debate for another video. There has been a loss of ice in the last few decades, so it sounds credible that this is bad for polar bears. Polar bears like ice, right? Less ice, fewer bears. And we have fewer bears today, right? Wrong.
