General Discussion / Re: Thought For The Day by John Jaeger, MBA

The widespread support of Hamas terrorists by people living in America is evil, despicable and cowardly. - John Phillip Jaeger

Those that support Hamas inside America, aren't necessarily Americans but ILLEGALS who have invaded this country with no loyalty towards America or have been granted legal status that refuse to assimilate.

Those that support Hamas want to see the downfall of our Republic, "Death to America" is want they are working towards.

The uprising on campuses throughout our country I believe is just a test to see what they can get away with and how easily they can take this country over.

I think it's the all-the-above combo of things that have just maxed people out on the big screen scene. People post-covid are kind of laid back and low key right now, just living their lives and not interested in grandiose woke ignorance being garden hosed down their throats, and constantly scolded and lectured.

That and heavy competition has watered down their audience, people have also moved back into watching shorter but more entertaining clips, a lot of times just funny real life getting captured on video. And Hollywood refuses to adapt, and I don't have a problem with them going down in flames.

Awesome story! I hope the young boy doesn't have his wonderful view on life destroyed by socialists in the school system, but I take heart that his parents have instilled a great foundation for thee rest of his life. @mystery-ak thank you for posting this story, it brightened my day 888high58888

Blocking access is not peaceful.

The AF should have escorted the demonstrators away from the area with their faces on the ground and military members holding each ankle. ****slapping
Just drag them away by the ankles while their faces plow a furrow in the ground.

Military working dog Figo served his country. Now, he's being honored in Fayetteville
Lizmary Evans
Fayetteville Observer

The U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum is honoring a military working dog in a memorial paver ceremony this weekend and the public is invited to attend, the museum said Tuesday.

Figo was a Czech shephard and Belgian Malinois military working dog who was trained in patrolling, explosive odor detection and tracking through the Special Operations Forces Multi-Purpose Canine program.

The U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is honoring Figo, a military working dog, with a paver memorial ceremony Saturday, May 4, 2024.

After completing his training, Figo joined the Fifth Special Forces Group Airborne Division and deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 and Syria in 2017. During both deployments, Figo found several buried improvised explosive devices, cleared routes and was “often the first American to encounter the enemy,” according to the release.

His actions saved countless lives.

Those are some of the reasons I have no interest in going to a movie. Also, most of them seem to be remakes or nothing but comic book stuff. H'wood has a serious lack of imagination.

Having said that, some people I know have seen this movie recently and speak very highly of it: Unsung Hero
Hollywood, in general, has been suffering from a lack of creative freshness for a long time.
The Flintstones a live action movie?  They have always made a muddle of historical themes (don't get your history from a movie!) and in retrospect, have always either pushed the Party line of the day or pushed back against it. Propaganda has cast it's aura over the film business, for good or ill, for a long time.
Add in the glaring and increasing pandering to wokeness and specific groups and there is almost no reason for anyone except those who want to feed their individual confirmation bias to even watch. You can tell who populates the Hollywood bubble by the 'messages' they write in, and they increasingly either are further removed from real people, or people seem to set their norms thereby and behave in lockstep--softly contributing to the serious divides in American Society, rather than illustrating the common themes that would potentially bring people together.
When the next social movement could be predicted by the appearance of specific character types in sitcoms, I only watched long enough to see what was coming next, and then, not at all.

Now the theater has become a refuge from the heat when the air conditioner breaks.

Gaza protests block gate at New Mexico’s Kirtland Air Force Base
By Associated Press and Rachel S. Cohen
 Thursday, May 2

About two dozen protesters sat in the middle of a roadway blocking access to one of the main gates at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, Thursday morning, waving flags and vowing to “shut everything down” over U.S. military support for Israel’s war in Gaza.

Base spokesman Rob Smith said Kirtland supports citizens’ rights to peacefully assemble and protest and that base security would monitor the situation throughout the day. Meanwhile, the gate would remain closed indefinitely and people who work on the base were advised to use other routes.

The protest comes just days after 16 people — including five students — were arrested at the University of New Mexico just a few miles away after they occupied the campus’ student union building and caused damage inside.

Modern science, technology, medicine, and the norms of Anglo-Saxon law are all very strong arguments for the superiority of the culture of Europe, and specifically north-western Europe.

I wonder whether the protestors would like to be tried for a crime under a system of law that lacked writs of habeas corpus, trial by jury, the presumption of innocence, and the requirement that the state proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.  Would they prefer Islamic law?  Chinese legalism? Code Napoleon?  The Code of Hammurabi? The legal system the prevailed in Benin when its kings were selling fellow-Africans to European traders as slaves? Whatever systems of law prevailed among the Aztecs or the Hindus before European colonialism replace them?  Didn't think so. I suspect they all like the Anglo-Saxon system just fine and will daddy's lawyer on speed-dial in case their protest goes sideways.

As Jordan Peterson put it "The Common Law is a bloody miracle!"
