Title: Wisdom - Knowledge - Reflection - Sharing
Post by: ChemEngrMBA on October 20, 2012, 01:27:20 pm
Practically everyone believes that he has "been around."  Even if not college educated, all of us have seen and done a great deal, learned many of life's important lessons.  Hold that thought.

Now, write down in one sentence the most important thing you have learned in life.  Reflect on your countless travels and travails.  Reach deep into your own knowledge and wisdom.  And share that with the rest of us.

I'm quite sure that the overwhelming majority of you are not up to this simple request.  Nevertheless, that thought will trouble you.  And it should.
I know it has me since I first considered assembling wisdom, knowledge, conciseness, reflection, expression, and sharing.

You cannot help but be humbled by the difficulty of answering the question, and the pathetic inadequacy of your response.

What is the most important thing you have learned in life?

Try harder.

Not a comment on your post, but the one thing I have learned in life.

The more you learn, the more you realize what how much you don't know.

Thank God for toilet paper and indoor plumbing.

Seriously.  Think about it.

Seriously.  Think about it.
Several years ago, someone asked what the greatest invention of the 20th century was. The responses were along the lines of computers, TV, space travel, all the usual high-tech stuff, etc., but the best answer was indoor plumbing. When we think how people used to haul water from a spring or use an outhouse in the dead of winter, yeah, I'd say indoor plumbing is pretty high on the list of great necessary inventions.

Wear clean underpants, indoor plumbing is good, we don't know much, and try harder.

This constitutes the greatest collective wisdom available on these message boards.

Perhaps the original post, not the responses,  is the problem.

Ooh, snarky!  The phrase is "quel dommage," incidentally.

Snarky is Oceander suggesting that a well educated individual's intellect has the rest mass of an electron.

THAT is snarky.  It is also profoundly ignorant.

Obviously you moderators treat members differently, depending on their seniority.
That is unfair and inappropriate.

I was addressing Oceander's snarky comment, that my intellect is less massive than an electron.

IF you moderators are fair, you would have addressed Oceander, not me.
I have nothing to apologize for.
