Senate Majority Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday said that if heâ€™s unable to reach a deal with Democrats to set the rules for a Senate impeachment trial then he will try to to do so solely with GOP votes.

A Senate trial is expected to last as long as five or six weeks, depending on how much time the resolution allows House impeachment managers to make their case and the president's defense team to offer a rebuttal.

McConnell said heâ€™ll try to negotiate a deal with Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) but if that fails heâ€™ll try to muster 51 votes in the Senate Republican conference to set the rules of the trial.

â€œIt would depend on what we could agree to,â€ McConnell told reporters when asked if he would prefer to reach a bipartisan deal to set the parameters of the trial.

Cocaine Mitch has the balls to do anything. The real question is with Romney, Collins, and Murkowski does he have 51 votes?

I think the real question is does Turtles have 51 votes to tell the Rats "pound sand, we are going to air all your dirty dealing for the American public to see".

I suspect the Pubs will screw up this opportunity and try to "be fair" because of the Rinos.
