Economy/Business / Re: The Era of One-Stop Grocery Shopping Is Over

I play supermarket roulette every week to get better meat prices if it's a 15 minute or less drive ... manager's special is cherry on top.

I can't wait to get back to fishing and hunting. And raising up my own beef and chicken. I am not used to paying for meat at all. And man! is that an eye-opener.

It's because billionaires have "invested" enough in congress to get a tax code tailored to their needs.

Is it though?  The billionaires get tax deferrals.  The bottom half of households get all sorts of handouts, contribute practically nothing to the federal government, and still pretend they are getting ripped off.

Didn't we just read that Musk has a concept vehicle that can go 0-60 in 1 second?

I'm not an advocate of today's EVs...unless you live in a tropical climate and use it expressly as an errand vehicle around town.   happy77

We read a lot of things.

Here's the bar: Outrun a police chopper and get away with it. That's what a hellcat can do, slammed to the wood.

I don't give a single sh*t about anything but merit. Them that can brag, let em.

When it's real -REALLY real - People will flock to it without subsidy, just like the construction industry and mechanical industry moved to batt tools. No bullshit. No hype. They're better day-to-day.

But even in that, .when the chips are all down and the batt driven tool won't do, Out comes old-school pneumatics or corded tools to kick their ass.

That's about 2.735 Gs... So if you weigh 200 lbs, you'd be pressed back into the seat with a force of about 550 lbs...

Yikes!

yeah...that's not gonna work unless you're using "Element 115".

Bring back the '67 border.  You know, the one where the West Bank was part of Jordan.

Maria Bartiromo questions Jim Jordan about ‘congressional investigations that go nowhere’
by Miranda Nazzaro - 04/28/24 3:55 PM ET

Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo on Sunday pressed House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on the lack of headway in House Republicans’ investigations into President Biden and other political figures.

Bartiromo and Jordan were discussing the Judiciary Committee’s latest report that alleges the New York County District Attorney’s Office’s (DANY) hush money probe into former President Trump is “political prosecution.”

“Well, look, I mean, at this point, American citizens are asking, what can you do about it? I mean, look, with all due respect, people are sick and tired of congressional investigations that go nowhere. People are sick and tired of letters being written and sent to the people who we know are bad in the first place,” Bartiromo said Sunday on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Jordan lamented his frustrations about the former president’s other legal battles in Washington, D.C., for his federal election interference case, and in Georgia, where he’s accused of participating in a scheme to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.

“They want you to do something about it. You’re an elected official. What can you do to right these wrongs?” Bartiromo added later.

“Well, we have passed legislation out of the committee that would help remedy this situation, particularly the one in New York, but the president or vice president can move a case to federal — to federal court from when you do these state prosecutors who are going after someone for a political reason,” Jordan responded.

Trump trashes ‘absolute disaster’ White House Correspondents’ Dinner, takes jabs at Colin Jost

Published April 28, 2024, 11:13 a.m. ET

Donald Trump on Sunday trashed the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after being mocked by President Biden and “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost at the annual event.

“The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was really bad. Colin Jost BOMBED, and Crooked Joe was an absolute disaster! Doesn’t get much worse than this!,” the former president, 77, whined on Truth Social.

Trump broke with tradition and skipped out on all of the White House Correspondents’ Dinners during his presidency.

Some have speculated that Trump was scarred by the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2011, when then-President Barack Obama mercilessly skewered him.

On Saturday evening, during the annual event for reporters and celebrities, Biden leveraged his appearance to take aim at his predecessor.

“I’m a grown man running against a 6-year-old,” Biden, 81, said during his speech. “Age is the only thing we have in common. My vice president actually endorses me.”

I seriously want a blue state to mandate 100% EV.  The world hasn't had that much of a visual contrast between right and wrong since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
