It is laughable how slanted the writer is ... LOL!
She is making a "declaration of fact" when she says that, "Alec accidentally shot and killed Hutchins" <- she doesn't know that, nobody does, until the investigation is complete.

Then there is this little totally made up 'fact', "Actor Alec Baldwin was holding the gun when it fired towards Hutchins last October 21." Again, there is no possible way she can know these things. Is she some kind of psychic? Was she there, and involved in the movie with Alec? Was she in charge of the gun and ammo enough to know that "the gun" aimed and fired the shot?

She is not 'reporting' a story; she is making up a story out of her own opinions which she desperately wants to be true.

Lousy reporting, indeed. If that bum isn't charged with involuntary manslaughter at the very least, we will know for sure there is no justice.

There is a very important lesson to be learned here.

ALL people who handle a gun,
especially if using it in a movie scene or whatever,
need to check the gun right then and there,
to confirm whether or not it is loaded,
and with what kind of ammo.

DO NOT assume that the gun is in the same condition
as it was the last time you saw it!

I would recommend that, for any movie or TV show or whatever,
if any gun is to be used anywhere in the production,
the entire cast and crew should be given a gun safety course.

There are many courses out there, for free,
from the NRA and from other sources.
If Alec Baldwin had studied any of the NRA's safety courses,
instead of propagandizing against them,
he would not be in trouble right now.

And perhaps the producer of the movie shouldn't be using real guns on his set?

You think?

The industry standard is that the armorer/person handing the gun to the actor is to verify physically to the actor/receiver that the gun is in fact unloaded/safe by opening the cylinder on a revolver to show all chambers empty and to also dry fire into the ground as many times there are cylinders. With a pistol they are to remove the magazine verify it  is unloaded then rack the slide and dry fire it into the ground, following this the actor/receiver is supposed to do the same thing in front of the armorer. Baldwin knew this and knew quite well the safety procedures, both the armorer and Baldwin who was also a producer violated the procedures as they allowed others on the set to violate standards having live rounds on the set and using the gun for live fire target practice.

All the rules and safety procedures in the world don't mean jack when you have an incompetent armorer and a narcissist who believes he is above any rules. The set of Rust was a calamity waiting to happen, the only surprise was it took so long.
