Thrice-Deported Illegal Immigrant Accused Of Smuggling People, Drugs, .50 Caliber Ammo Across Border

JASON HOPKINS CONTRIBUTOR
May 15, 2024 4:19 PM ET

A Mexican national repeatedly deported from the United States was allegedly the leader of a stash house that smuggled drugs, ammunition and migrants across the southern border.

A federal grand jury in Arizona handed down a 10-count indictment, first reported by Border Report, earlier this month against Ambrocio Ruiz-Angulo. Ruiz-Angulo is charged with conspiracy to smuggle goods out of the U.S., possession of a firearm by an illegal immigrant, and possession with intent to distribute heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Law enforcement officials were led to Ruiz-Angulo after catching a woman attempting to drive 2,200 rounds of .50-caliber bullets past a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) port of entry into Mexico earlier this year.

Biden looks to pivot on inflation, but it may be too late
By

.

President Joe Biden wants to talk about falling inflation. Whether voters believe him could decide the outcome of the 2024 election.

Biden likes to point out that inflation has tumbled from its high of 9% in June 2022, even claiming it was that high when he came into office. But prices are still rising and are far above where they were when Biden entered the White House.

“On Wednesday, the country hit a sad milestone: Inflation under President Biden hit 20%,” Job Creators Network CEO Alfredo Ortiz said following the latest consumer price index report. “As a result, ordinary Americans face a cost-of-living crisis and declining living standards, with price increases outpacing wages.”

With that figure in mind, Republicans are going to harp on “Bidenflation” as an evil force zapping away earnings regardless of what happens from here until Election Day.

“Not one thing is cheaper under Crooked Joe — food, gasoline, cars, trucks, rent, and mortgages are all through the roof,” Trump said in a video released Wednesday morning. “Biden’s price hikes are killing the American dream.”

Biden is still holding out hope the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates before November, giving him a win he can sell on the campaign trail as “Bidenomics.” The April CPI report was a step in the right direction as inflation fell slightly to 3.4% year-over-year.

'So Much For Democracy'? Blinken Justifies Ukraine Canceling Elections
by Tyler Durden ZEROHEDGE
Thursday, May 16, 2024 - 06:30 AM

Authored by Dave DeCamp via AntiWar.com,

Secretary of State Antony Blinken made an unannounced visit to Ukraine on Tuesday and delivered a speech where he justified President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to postpone elections.

Presidential elections were due to be held in March, but they weren’t, and Zelensky will remain in office after his term ends on May 20. Ukrainian parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held last year in October, but they were also canceled.

Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials have justified the decision by pointing to Ukraine’s constitution, which prohibits elections during martial law. Martial law was first declared when Russia invaded and has been extended since. However, at one point, Zelensky made it clear that he could hold a vote if he wanted to.

Last year, Zelensky said that he could hold elections if the US and other Western countries paid for them and if Ukrainian legislators agreed to amend the constitution.  ...
To no one's surprise, the Biden Administration turns out to be considerably less "pro-democracy" than claimed.

Migrants Breach Fortified Border Barrier, March Through Texas Neighborhood

by RANDY CLARK 15 May 2024

A group of nearly 100 migrants, including some young children, was observed marching away from the Rio Grande after breaching border barriers near the heart of downtown Eagle Pass, Texas. The migrants strolled through the city streets and were observed by residents who notified authorities of the breach.

Although migrant crossings have been significantly reduced in recent months due to actions taken by Mexican authorities and the State of Texas, some migrants are still managing to make it into the United States.

One resident captured several photos of the large migrant group strolling through her neighborhood on Tuesday just as the Border Patrol arrived to make the arrest. The group managed to breach concertina wire installed along the Rio Grande by state authorities deployed to fortify the border under Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star. A Customs and Border Protection source, not authorized to speak to the media, says many in the group will likely be released to pursue asylum claims within the United States.

The group consisted of nationals from various countries, including Venezuela, Colombia, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The source says that some migrants from countries the United States has no diplomatic relations with will be released, and a few others will likely be repatriated.

Jon Stewart Mocks Nancy Pelosi’s Stock Market Acumen: ‘Legal Corruption’ Is ‘So F**king Lucrative’

David Ng 16 May 2024

Comedian Jon Stewart targeted Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for mockery on a recent episode of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, saying Pelosi and other members of Congress “have inside information” that they blatantly use for personal financial gain.

Jon Stewart used New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez’s (D) ongoing corruption trial to springboard into Pelosi during Monday’s show. He said Menendez’s didn’t “need to break the law so cartoonishly when the legal corruption in the Senate is so bleep lucrative.”

The comedian used an undated clip of Peter Schweizer on CSPAN noting that the “average” senator’s stock portfolio has beat the stock market 12 percent of the time, versus the average hedge fund at just 7 percent of the time

“How do they do it?” Stewart asked sarcastically. “The secret is an understanding of the intricate interconnectivity of global markets. I’m kidding. They have inside information.”

He added that members of Congress are able to avoid prosecution because they oversee themselves.

May 15, 2024 8:06 PM ET

The Massachusetts officials revealed Saturday that they plan to convert the Bay State Correctional Center in Norfolk into an emergency shelter for families facing homelessness, WCVB-TV reported.

The former minimum-security prison, equipped with showers, bathrooms, a cafeteria and a gymnasium, will be converted to house around 140 families. Workers will modify the facility to create a domestic environment for the new residents, according to WCVB-TV. Scott Rice, the state’s emergency assistance director, confirmed the facility is prepared for the transition, highlighting its abundant amenities that will support various activities.

Hundreds of migrants to be sent to Mass. prison — after it’s converted into a family shelter

The shelter will offer English language lessons and job training programs to help residents achieve stable living conditions. Additionally, it will include designated play areas for children and classroom spaces for adult education, the outlet reported. The adaptation of the prison also addresses local concerns regarding the potential strain on Norfolk’s infrastructure and schools. Jim Lehan from the Norfolk Select Board recognized these concerns, pointing out that the decision is under state control.

“This is a very sensitive issue. People are very concerned about its impact both in terms of our infrastructure and our schools. They have a right to be concerned,” Lehan said, according to WCVB-TV. “Our job is to minimize this impact because we don’t get a vote on this. If the state wants to do this, then the state will do this.”

'The queers are coming' and they love Hamas
by: Libby Emmons

Ireland's queer non-binary witch singer was devastated to find that she and her nation's Satanic entry to the Eurovision Song Contest lost out to Israel. The singer, who calls herself Bambie Thug, made no bones about her political positions as she competed in the contest. She wore a trans flag bikini, screamed about non-binary queerness, proclaimed herself to be a witch, performed inside a burning pentagram, and clearly came down on the side of Palestinian terror group Hamas over Israel as the nation fights the world for its right to exist. ...

And she's not the only queer-identified lover of Hamas. There's a whole contingent of self-proclaimed queers and LGBTQIA+ persons who have gone out there into the streets, campuses, or just online to declare their support for the murdering, rapist terrorists who brutalized Israeli women and children and continue to hold Americans, as well as Israelis and others, hostage in Gaza. It doesn't seem to matter to these folx that Hamas terrorists and hardline Islamists alike would sooner chuck them off a building than use their preferred pronouns, the queers are still gaga for the "oppressed" terrorists. ...

DAY 18

Michael Cohen is set to retake the stand Thursday, the third day this week he is doing so as a star witness in former President Trump’s hush money trial.

He will undergo further cross-examination by Trump’s attorney, who at the start of the proceeding attempted to paint the former president’s ex-personal attorney as someone who profited over his hatred of his former boss.

Cohen is expected to be the prosecution’s last witness in the historic trial, which has stretched into its fourth week.

Michael Cohen is expected to be the prosecution’s final witness in their case in chief, though they may later call a rebuttal witness if Trump has an expert testify in his defense.

“We had indicated that, potentially, that we could call another witness, that was going to be another book publisher, but we’ve decided that we really don’t need to do that,” Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass said during a sidebar conference on Tuesday.

The exchange was out of the earshot of reporters but surfaced in the court transcript.

“So, Mr. Cohen will be the last witness,” Steinglass said.

Cross-examination of Cohen from Trump’s attorneys is expected to last most, if not all, of Thursday.

Court will not meet on Friday so Trump can attend his son’s graduation, so it is possible Cohen will need to return on Monday.

Long lines form at courthouse for Cohen testimony

The lines to get into the courthouse to catch a glimpse of Trump’s hush money trial were already long at about 5:30 a.m. this morning.

Members of the public and the press were huddled underneath umbrellas to face the rainy weather.

Despite the early hour, most members of the public will likely not get in due to a very limited number of seats inside.

By 6:30 a.m., police appeared to already close off the line.
