http://www.ijreview.com/2014/02/114181-whoah-obamas-opulent-state-dinners-cost-taxpayer-half-million-dollars/ Whoah! Obama's Opulent State Dinners Cost Taxpayers About Half A Million Dollars Each On February 11, 2014 Obama is having a grand old time with his socialist buddy President Francois Hollande of France on his visit, and for the first time ever, Americans will get a view of just how much a State dinner costs them. It took thirteen months for the State Department to respond to the request for the costs of such dinners, but here they are! CBS News has obtained the Office of Protocol’s expense calculations for the first five state dinners of the Obama presidency. Nov. 24, 2009 – State dinner for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India. $572,187.36 May 19, 2010 – State dinner for President Felipe Calderon of Mexico. $563,479.92 Jan. 19, 2011 – State dinner for President Hu Jintao of China. $412,329.73. June 7, 2011 – State dinner for Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany. $215,883.36 Oct. 13, 2011 – State dinner for President Lee Myung-bak of South Korea. $203,053.34 The State Department has yet to respond to another Freedom of Information request filed seven months ago for its rundown of the expenses for the state dinner honoring British Prime Minister David Cameron on March 14, 2012. Wow! The regal president mompants sure is having a great time on the taxpayer’s dime! And what’s with the gender disparity? Is Angela Merkel a light eater, or do they discriminate against the fairer sex on dinners in the same way they discriminate on salary pay?! Total costs for five state dinners is $1,966.933.71, or just under half a million dollars each. In another snub to Congress, the administration completely ignored Darrell Issa’s requests for this information way back in 2012, but answered the same request from CBS. Classy huh?
Interesting that Mexican food now costs more than Chinee.......
The disparity is telling. Germany and South Korea - bad. Mexico - good?
The royal couple and France's Hollande: (http://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/michelle_obama__francois_hollande__barack_obama_88712563.jpg?w=720&h=480&crop=1)NY Post (http://nypost.com/2014/02/12/french-president-feted-by-obamas-in-washington-state-dinner/) WASHINGTON — Let them eat steak. The White House feted French President François Hollande with an exravagant state dinner Tuesday night complete with an impressionist-themed tent, aged rib-eye steaks, and caviar. But with Hollande in the midst of a mistress scandal and attending stag after dumping First Lady Valérie Trierweiler, there was no dancing on the menu. Guests gathered under a tent on the White House South Lawn. Despite DC’s chilly weather, it was decorated to look like a scene out of French impressionist Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies.” The White House chefs didn’t stint, with a menu meant to dazzle their discerning guests. The meal was selected from all corners of the US — even as President Obama at a press conference joked about Hollande’s love of fast food. Dry-aged Colorado rib-eyes — weighing about 6 ounces raw but somewhat less after being cooked medium-rare, according to an administration official — were presented on each plate. Osetra Caviar was farm-raised in Illinois estuaries. Quail eggs came from Pennsylvania. Although First Lady Michelle Obama’s office selected elegant place settings, official White House plates couldn’t be used because the 348 guests dined outside . [What did they use, Chinet?] The White House florist, who studied in Paris, arranged elaborate bouquets for each table. Bronx-born Mary J. Blige performed. Guests entered the White House and were greeted in the Blue Room, which features gilded furniture and paintings picked out by President James Monroe. The guests traveled to the tent in an old-fashioned trolley. Earlier, Obama welcomed Hollande at an elaborate ceremony with a military honor guard and buglers who played from the South Portico of the White House — while hundreds of guests viewed the spectacle from the lawn. “Bonjour! That’s the extent of my French,” Obama quipped at the top of his remarks. **nononono*

First Lady’s Dress estimated to be worth more than year’s income at Poverty Line (http://weaselzippers.us/wp-content/uploads/444x657xarticle-2557639-1B680B5900000578-591_634x938.jpg.pagespeed.ic.1kovKiVmXJ.jpg) In a CNN segment, first reported on by The Weekly Standard, Sally Quinn estimated that the dress Michelle Obama wore to last night’s extravagant state dinner may have cost “around $12,000.” While Sally Quinn cautioned that the estimate was “just my guess” host Erin Burnett cut in to say “I bet that’s an informed guess.” If Quinn’s estimate is correct that puts the price of the first lady’s dress at more than an entire year’s income at the poverty line. According to the Census Bureau, the 2013 poverty line, or poverty threshold, for single person households is $11,646. http://capitolcityproject.com/first-ladys-dress-estimated-worth-years-income-poverty-line/ (http://capitolcityproject.com/first-ladys-dress-estimated-worth-years-income-poverty-line/)
1. Was that Tawana Brawley with Rev. Al? 2. Norah O'Donnell was probably "drunk dialing" Jay Carney by 8:17 that night. Jay could only swing Olive Garden on a Time reporter's salary.
