Title: Take Back Our Mouthpieces: A Return To Intelligent Conservatism
Post by: Cripplecreek on March 20, 2017, 10:25:05 pm
I’ve been as guilty as any of them.  Eight years of Obama turned me into an angry conservative intent on slaying liberal dragons through tasteless methods and angry rants.  I might have been uncomfortable with the “libtard” language and while I never bought into ridiculous notions like the birther movement, I never shut it down either.

There is no denying that I’ve often been in the wrong with the approach that my platform has allowed me and watching some of my counterparts in conservative media echo much of what I often partook now makes me cringe- angry at myself that I didn’t have the foresight to see what this would lead to.

Brittany Pounders, the conservative with the porn star name and I know exactly how she feels. The angry aggressive turn of "conservatism" is what drove me away from TOS after years of being cowed away from things like mentioning feelings of compassion for those outside the accepted group.

I'm not a child and don't care what my "peers" think.

@Cripplecreek

"And in doing so, we were setting ourselves up for a fall.  Our audiences echoed us.  Outraged and angry.  Ready to set fire to the building but forgetting we still live there.  Reacting to legitimate policy problems with nothing but anger based solely on ideology and ready to do anything to appease our emotions-even if it meant to cut off our nose to spite our face."

Lots of wisdom in that article.  I wish some of the people who are still tearing forward fueled by high-octane anger would check themselves.  It's a terribly sad thing that the conservative movement is no longer based on reason, but on emotion.

"This inevitably paved the way for the new era of “conservatism.”  One that felt way too comfortable partnering up with bigotry, misogyny, racism.  Also, one that was heartrendingly accepting of moral relativism. "

I've seen people elsewhere saying that they won't condemn Tomi Lahren because hey, she's a good voice for our side.

Political rioters They want to burn it all down with no thought for what comes next.

I won't say they're working toward the communist goals but they're sure reading from the playbook. It doesn't matter what the intentions are but using the Alinsky and Cloward/Piven strategies will lead to nothing but destruction. Steve Bannon has openly stated that he wants to create chaos.

Once upon a time the same thing was said about Robert Welch. Wonder if they've forgotten how that
worked out for him.

@Cripplecreek

Didn't Bannon also make a complimentary remark about one of the founding fathers, so to speak, of Communism?  I can't remember who it was.  Or am I imagining that?

Plenty here from his own mouth about his love of darkness and power.

It may be a movement, but it isn't conservative. At its root it is the same frothing anger the Liberals have, just directed at anyone who disagrees with 'pragmatism', essentially having rationalized away principle to indulge fury.

If someone doesn't represent your beliefs, they can sing it like a nightingale, but it still won't be a good voice for your beliefs. In the meantime the soi disant 'conservatives' are in full swing hijacking the name and the movement if people will let their principles be compromised.

From the link:
Quote
"Darkness is good," says Bannon, who amid the suits surrounding him at Trump Tower, looks like a graduate student in his T-shirt, open button-down and tatty blue blazer — albeit a 62-year-old graduate student. "Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That's power. It only helps us when they" — I believe by "they" he means liberals and the media, already promoting calls for his ouster — "get it wrong. When they're blind to who we are and what we're doing."
Feel the power of the Dark Side, he does.

No wonder so much Alinsky type material was splattered over the GOP this time around.
