Honorably discharged veterans from all branches of service will soon have extra cash in their pockets.
Veterans who receive an honorable discharge will be able to shop tax-free at Army and Air Force Exchange stores online, where they will be able to get the same discounts as active duty military personnel, the Associated Press (AP) reports.
“It’s a modest benefit, but it can save you thousands of dollars a year,” said Exchange CEO Tom Shull, an alumnus of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, who embarked on a career in retail after serving for a decade in the U.S. Army.

btw...I have shopped at Exchanges for years...you used to be able to get bargains but I have found you do better at any dept store having a sale....

I had a co-worker that was retired Air Force. He would make a monthly drive from Houston to San Antonio to shop at the commissary.
One Friday he had a stroke and still made the drive to the commissary. Only when he got back did he go to the hospital.

Didn't there used to be a commissary in Austin? Bergstrom?

For those that may be interested in this. I got an email today from VetVerify saying I had been randomly chosen to be beta tester of the system before the November 11th roll out. I was able to create an account and it seems I have full access to all the features of the four online exchanges. Might want to check your emails...
