This was the special moment for fruit loops when they felt
they were in charge and we had to listen to them.

Dem Rep. Phillips: We Should Cancel Dem Convention, Things ‘Looking Awfully Like 1968’

Ian Hanchett 16 May 2024

On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) argued that “it would be in the best interests of the Democratic Party to forego the convention this year and focus on campaigning” and argued that things are “looking awfully like 1968” and this could also bleed over to the convention.

Phillips stated, [relevant remarks begin around 4:50] “I think that President Biden has done a very good job of supporting our ally and friend Israel. I think he made a misstep, of course, last week, withholding some arms shipments. But I’m very pleased with his support. Clearly, young progressives are dismayed, and, frankly, I think now, the President has kind of offended those on both sides of this issue. But, he can recapture that. I do believe he’s principled in his support for Israel. But I’m afraid that this is looking awfully like 1968 with a lot of anger and angst and disenfranchisement that I think are going to play out on TV this summer, and it’s going to be awfully contentious. So, there’s time to course correct.”

Host Bret Baier then cut in to ask, “1968 was in Chicago, the Democratic Convention. Do you think it could look a little like that?”

Phillips answered, “I think it can, and frankly, I think it would be in the best interests of the Democratic Party to forego the convention this year and focus on campaigning. Because I don’t see any way it can be accretive to the mission of winning the next election.”

‘It’s Their Super Bowl’: Tuberville Calls NY Trial ‘Witch Hunt,’ ‘Planned Since He Decided to Run for President’

Jeff Poor 16 May 2024

Fresh off of his appearance in New York City alongside former President Donald Trump on Monday, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) criticized New York prosecutors for what he deemed a “witch hunt” against the former president.

According to Alabama’s senior U.S. Senator, the jurors looked “bored” during the prosecution’s star witness Michael Cohen’s testimony. He also said the number of assistant district attorneys in the courtroom suggested the trial was “their Super Bowl.”

“Yeah, I went up there to support a friend, Donald Trump, and a true American, and I hope it’s going to be the next president,” Tuberville said in an interview Wednesday that aired on Mobile, AL radio FM Talk 106.5. “It’s obviously a witch hunt. We know that. You know, they had 20 assistant district attorneys in there. It’s their Super Bowl — going after the guy that they all want to bring down to get a notch in their gun. This has been planned since he decided to run for president.”

“And, of course, they want to make it as tough on President Trump as they could,” he continued. “They never used ‘President Trump’ as when they addressed him. They call him ‘Mr. Trump.’ And, you know, he’s so disliked by the left. This is not going to work. I sat there and watched the jurors, and there was 15 — three alternates, half women, half men. And, you know, they look very uninterested. There’s no way they’re going to get all of them to agree that this liar that’s Michael Cohen has any credibility at all. You know, he’s been in jail for lying.”

“So, that being said, I went up and, you know, he’s got a gag order on him,” Tuberville added. “And I went up to go out and speak on his behalf. He can’t speak like the rest of us can. You saw more go yesterday and trying to bring out the truth of really what’s going on. So — spent all day with the president, had lunch with him, had breakfast with him. You know, he’s obviously, you know, chomping at the bits to get out there and campaign every day. But it is what it is. You have to go through the system, and the truth will prevail. And as we get through this one, obviously, he’s got a couple more he’s got to look at down the way, but I don’t think those will really make it to the court.”

Translation: "I know the indictments are frivolously bogus, but 'pardoning' Trump would have made Trump look guilty!"

Romney's envy and bitterness over Trump having been elected President while he, Romney, had been rejected by voters is cringey.

Sounds like a pretty strong consensus to me.

Texas Scorecard by  Emily Medeiros May 15, 2024

Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham says she has no plans to hand over ownership of the island.

After Texas secured Fronton Island from the Mexican cartels, the Biden administration is now saying that the land is federal property.

Fronton Island is a 170-acre island situated in the Rio Grande between Starr County and Mexico and is known to be a hotspot for Mexican cartel trafficking.

In a letter from the International Boundary and Water Commission, Principal Engineer Ramon Macias asserts that “Fronton Island is federal property and is under the jurisdiction of the IWBC.” Macias asks the Texas General Land Office to remove any obstructions on the land—referencing two sediment bridges the Texas National Guard put in place after Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham certified the island as state-owned property.

Buckingham posted to X saying Texas won’t hand over ownership of the island.

“Texas has stepped up, and we have no intention of relinquishing our claim of ownership of Fronton Island,” wrote Buckingham. “As long as the people in that far away U.S. Capitol continue to ignore the people who sent them there, Texas and the @TXGLO, under my direction, will continue to do everything in its power to keep our families and communities safe!”
