Is Beef Production A Major Contributor To Climate Change?
May 20, 2024/ Francis Menton

Undoubtedly, by this time in your life you have read a hundred times, or maybe a thousand, that beef production is a “major contributor” to climate change.  It’s one of those narratives that has become a continuous drumbeat in the progressive press.  Probably, you have had no reason to question it.  Without thinking about it, you likely assume that this narrative is probably true.

But there is good reason to think critically about this one.  Among the various scare stories used to take further control of your life, this is one of the more important.  With the war against fossil fuels, there is at least the pretense that their use can be reduced or eliminated without major effect on your lifestyle — i.e., just replace the energy from fossil fuels with “cheap” electricity from wind and sun.  There is no such pretense with the war on beef.  The end game is unabashedly to reduce your standard of living by taking away one of the most important and best parts of your diet.

So is it true that beef production is a major contributor to climate change?  If you give the subject a moment’s critical thought, you will quickly realize that the proposition is wrong.  And you will come to that conclusion even if you fully accept that methane gas in the atmosphere is a major contributor to climate change, and that cattle raised to produce beef emit large amounts of methane gas.  There is an obvious logical flaw in the reasoning that is used to accuse beef production of being a major contributor to climate change.

But before getting to that, let’s look at one of my lists of the usual fools (and power-hungry government functionaries) repeating the narrative:

Could CO2 Be Convicted Of Overheating The Planet In A Criminal Court?
by I & I Editorial Board  7 hours ago

Showing that there are no loons quite like global warming loons, Jim Dale, founder of the British Weather Services, recently “demanded” that “climate denial” should be “criminalized.” [emphasis, links added]

According to news from the “United Kingdom’s News Channel,” Dale “likened climate denial to flat earth conspiracy theories, arguing they are too dangerous for public discourse.”

As our favorite Looney Tunes character would say, “What a maroon.”

Yet it makes us wonder: If carbon dioxide were put on trial, charged with overheating our only planet, would it be convicted?

Not if the trial was fair.

Biden Trying To Buy Election With Billions In Green Spending
by Lawrence Kudlow  4 hours ago

President Biden is trying to buy the election by pumping green money that no one wants into the swing states. [emphasis, links added]

Three Biden bills for a total of $15.4 billion in government spending, mostly for green energy, to be injected into Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and elsewhere.

The biggest chunk comes from the misnamed Inflation Reduction Act, which should simply be called the Inflation Act.

A recently conducted nationwide Kudlow/TIPP poll of more than 1,400 Americans shows that 54 percent oppose the Environmental Protection Agency mandate for electric vehicles by 2032 that would effectively ban gasoline-powered cars. That’s 54 percent.

The Battle of The climate Hypotheses: The Green-House Gas Forcer vs. The Winter Gatekeeper Round 1.
21 hours ago Guest Blogger

Gabriel Oxenstierna

What drives climate change? Is it the anthropogenic emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases [GHG], as the established climate science and the IPCC claims with its GHG forcer hypothesis?
Or is it the natural variations in heat transport to the polar regions during winter, as the new “Winter Gate-keeper hypothesis” [WGH] claims?

The WGH asserts to be a general hypothesis for climate change, fully capable of explaining historical climate change, as well as current changes, and with explicit forecasts for our future climate. In these respects, it compares itself with the established IPCC hypothesis of climate change being driven by anthropogenic GHG emissions. The WGH is fully described in two recently published books, and has also been explained in some detail here at WUWT by its originator Javier Vinós (here, here, here), and also by Andy May (here, here).[1][2]

The WGH introduces a novel climate-forcing mechanism by proposing that changes in poleward heat transport can strongly influence climate. As the planet Earth has two such polar regions, we have one in cold season during most of the year. Temporally, planet Earth has two peaks of energy loss to space. They are when each of the polar areas is dark and cools by radiating more during the polar winter.

Dutch Farmers Triumph Over Ideological Climate Policies: A Victory for Practicality and Reason
13 hours ago Charles Rotter 39 Comments

In a significant victory for conservative values and practical policy-making, Dutch farmers and a new right-wing coalition government have successfully pushed back against wasteful and impractical climate policies. This remarkable turnaround comes after years of top-down, ideologically driven mandates that threatened both the livelihood of farmers and the economic stability of the Netherlands. This victory is not just a win for Dutch farmers but a promising sign for conservatives worldwide who advocate for sensible, science-based environmental policies.

The Rise of the Right-Wing Coalition

Geert Wilders, a prominent figure in Dutch politics, has led a coalition that marks a decisive shift in the Netherlands’ approach to climate policy. Wilders, often dubbed the “Dutch Trump,” formed a new government that includes the Farmer-Citizen Movement (BBB). This coalition is notable for being the first to prioritize agricultural interests since the EU set its net-zero objectives.

Drowning in Sewage and Dumping Money into a Climate Rathole
5 hours ago Guest Blogger

We humans dream of colonizing Mars, building flying cars, and achieving immortality. Yet, amidst this fervent pursuit of futures that sometimes drift into fantasy, we’re neglecting critical problems of the present.

An example is rampant pollution of our waters. This neglect exists even in advanced societies such as the United Kingdom, where untreated sewage spills into the Thames and other rivers, turning them into fetid cesspools.

This isn’t some dystopian vision of the future. It’s happening right now, under the noses of complacent governments and a distracted public. While headlines scream about a fabricated climate emergency decades away, actual environmental crises fester — not to mention potholed streets and collapsing bridges.

Massive Utility Trade Group Reportedly Taking Biden Admin To Court Over Green Power Plant Rules

A massive trade group for utility companies is reportedly poised to sue the Biden administration over one of its most ambitious climate policies, according to E&E News.

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) — a trade group that represents all investor-owned utility companies in the U.S. — will soon file a legal challenge against the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recently-finalized regulations for power plants, according to E&E News, which cited four unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter. The trade association did not sue the Obama administration when it promulgated its similar and since-overruled Clean Power Plan, but it is now taking a more confrontational posture to battle the Biden administration’s power plant rules.

The EPA finalized the regulations in question in April; the rules effectively require existing coal-fired plants and new natural gas plants to use costly carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology to control 90% of emissions by 2032 if plant operators want to keep the covered facilities online past 2039, according to the agency. EEI reportedly plans to angle its lawsuit around the EPA’s reliance on CCS to meet emissions reductions targets, according to E&E News. Biden blasted by experts for repeating 'debunked lie' to Black students at HBCU graduation: 'Factually false'
Story by Andrew Miller • 2h

The President of the United States is a liar.

President Biden has faced a storm of criticism on social media and by experts over the past few days for repeating what many have labeled a lie about Georgia’s election law that was implemented several years ago.

"Today in Georgia, they won't allow water to be available to you while you wait in line to vote in an election," Biden told the graduating class at Morehouse College, a historically Black university in Atlanta, over the weekend. "What in the hell is that all about?"

"It’s 2024," Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office posted on X in response to Biden’s claim. "I can’t believe we’re still dealing with lies about Georgia’s election from the left & right. Once again, Georgia doesn’t have lines. Biden owes our election officials an apology & focus on the real issues – this damn inflation that is hitting hard-working Georgians."

Democrats and rinos are in an even bigger hurry all of a sudden.  I think it's an admission Biden is going to get his ass kicked in Nov. and they want to build the count of illegals in certain key states for apportionment of the House. :pondering:

Opinion: Biden’s new asylum ruling is a big flashing ‘Welcome’ sign for undocumented immigrants
© Provided by The Hill

On May 16, 2024, the administration announced the formation of a new recent arrivals docket process to more expeditiously resolve the asylum claims of single adults who are apprehended at the border after making an illegal crossing.

The announcement claims that the objective of the program is to “accelerate asylum proceedings so that individuals who do not qualify for relief can be removed more quickly and those who do qualify can achieve protection sooner.”

This does not mean that the asylum claims of these illegal crossers will be disposed of at the border. They will be released into the country for a hearing before an immigration judge in accelerated docket proceedings.

The accelerated docket will operate in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City. The Justice Department has assigned 10 judges who will try to render decisions within 180 days.
