One of my fave little known songs was this ... an anti-war song that flopped big time under Reagan, but it was catchy.
The Fixx - Stand or Fall
Echo & the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
Thompson Twin - Hold Me Now
Good one, @RoosGirl
Great Stuff, I have one extended by them. Perhaps someone remembers it.
Thompson Twins - King for a Day (Extended)
Good one, @RoosGirl
Yaz[oo] always takes me back to clubs in Montréal, and a sweet little French-Canadian girl. The lapel pin she gave me of crossed American and Canadian flags is stuck right there in the upper corner of my bulletin board...but her name has faded from my memory, lost like the clasp of that pin. I hate getting old and having whole chunks of my life sublimating from vivid solid memories into mere vapors drifting away.

Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian (3 different mixes)
The Cure was an 80s icon in Dark Wave. But few know of the other group that sounded just like them, from instruments to vocals.
Big Country - In a Big Country (Pure Mix)
Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days
I really liked this entire album, at the time I thought these guys were going to be huge, didn't quite work out. But it's one of the finest examples of 80s Power Pop ever made.
The Producers - What He's Got
And having listened to the whole album for the first time in years, I still think every song on it is great.

This is a band from Poland, called "Lady Pank", they were huge in Poland, and this was still when Poland was behind the Iron Curtain.
They did record an English album in the mid-80s, and I remember seeing this video on MTV.
Anyway, of course it didn't go anywhere. But they are still legends in Poland, and still touring and making albums. I have a few myself, as I prefer their native Polish versions. They are a really good band, if you don't mind the language difference.

Thank you, I love to find a new song, thus why I like when others post some of their songs here. Never know what you might turn up, if I have to dig through 50 so-so songs, to find that one I missed, it is worth it in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVME_l4IwII&index=5&list=LLdZVWKM6GlHY6Bbb_pbLkpg&t=0s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVME_l4IwII&index=5&list=LLdZVWKM6GlHY6Bbb_pbLkpg&t=0s)
Each person has their own take on what is good of course, but I found that some that hang out in the music section are brilliant.... they might not be into the music I like, but take for example Pookie, he and EasyAce have forgotten more than I will remember on music over the years. DFwgator knows his stuff too, Suspressed has his moments that I find myself paying great attention too. Though I don't often post on non-80s threads, they might be surprised how many of their songs I actually give an ear, yep, even some of the classical songs and religious songs TomSea and To whoms Benefit posts I enjoy.
All I can say, is throw it out there, if someone mocks it, their loss, because it is someone's else's gem. I like sharing the files, but if someone posts a good songs from YouTube, I can usually find it in some fashion or form. I got friends in low places (or vice versa)...
Great thread. Bookmarking. Can’t think of a song unless- anyone remember The Hooters and their album “Nervous Night?â€

Thanks for posting! I never really heard this when it was contemporary - was more into two-tone/ska and punk at the time. At the time, the Merton Parkas, Secret Affair & the Lambrettas were highly touted. The one band I want to hear, though, is The Nips featuring Shane MacGowan, the once and future Pogue!
Thanks @SZonian , I could live a good month on a compliment. Unfortunately though, I have no idea about Apple products, my wife has one, I never touch it, the kids have one, but complain about not being able to load stuff to it. I honestly think I will keep away from them because they are not user friendly in some ways.@Sighlass, understood thanks.

Anyhoo, back to the music.... This group of songs will be more for the chill mellow listener... Downtempo and obscure....
The group "It's Immaterial" put out a few songs in the 80s that charted (mostly in the UK), but a few in the states.
I liked this song...

Anyway, the British group disappeared at the end of the 80s and left an album unpublished...
A friend set me up with the missing album (think she got it from them via making friends with them on their FB page).... and I enjoy it. Great background music you can relax to and yet still stop for a minute to enjoy. Not for everyone of course it is downtempo, but I throw out stuff like this and one never knows who will like it. wink777

Thanks, @Sighlass !
I wish this could keep going. I missed out on a lot of 80s music at the time, and have been stuck in the 60s and 70s (not that that is a bad place to be, musically).
@TomSea ... How do I send a thread to the music archive? May be a moderator thing, not sure, but thought I saw at one time the option to do it somewhere.
I get you @Smokin Joe I missed the end of the 80s from 86 on because of graduate school. Didn’t listen to the radio so much....From '82 to 89, from reversals of fortune, time spent on motorcycles and oil rigs in places where options for music were limited or nonexistent, I didn't catch much, either. Radio was nearly nonexistent (remote areas, maybe one station!), and although the County music of that era wasn't bad, I didn't even get to hear a lot of that.
If you are unable too, then, I will gladly do it for you if you point out the thread... @Sighlass
