Buck to retire next week, narrowing House GOP majority
by Mychael Schnell - 03/12/24 2:09 PM ET
Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) will retire from Congress next week, he announced on Tuesday, a move that will narrow the House GOP’s razor-thin majority even further.
Buck — who has become known for breaking from his party on a number of issues, especially the topic of election denialism — announced last year that he would depart the House at the end of his current term, but expedited that timeline on Tuesday.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of Colorado’s 4th District in Congress for the past 9 years. I want to thank them for their support and encouragement throughout the years. Today, I am announcing that I will depart Congress at the end of next week. I look forward to staying involved in our political process, as well as spending more time in Colorado with my family,” he wrote in a statement.

THE STUPID PARTY STRIKES AGAIN...
-
When the going gets tough, the Republicans run away.

Next week?????????
What the hell? If he's got a health problem, I get it. Otherwise, WHAT THE HELL?

A) CO Rep Ken Buck resigning at the end of next week
Buck had already announced he wan’t running for another term.
His resignation will squeeze the GOP majority more.
It will be 431 members with 218 Republicans and 213 Democrsts.

B) It’s about the math. The GOP will only be able to lose two votes of their own on any given issue. That’s the margin now because tie votes fail.

C) Buck was one of 3 House GOPers who opposed impeachment for Mayorkas

When the going gets tough, the Republicans run away.
You have a certain bloc of Republicans who have been open about their desire to remove from the party anyone who isn't aligned with them, and also thought it would be a good idea to throw the House into chaos.
These resignations may be an unintended consequence of their actions (though I have my doubts) but they were entirely predictable.
Pottery Barn rule applies to Matt Gaetz and his allies.

What the hell? If he's got a health problem, I get it. Otherwise, WHAT THE HELL?
Exactly. How very strange.
-
When the Democrats get the house back soon, then what?
-
If Dems get House, keep Senate and White House, they'll abuse the Budget Reconciliation Process and Executive Orders to bypass Congressional debate. They will impose their will on to the American people, like they did 2009-2011 and 2021-2023.
-
I would be more upset about this if Buck had voted with the GOP once in a while.
-
Never though that Ken Buck would end up being such a quitter, especially after he was the original "Drain the Swamp" guy.

Maybe he just decided that the House GOP is so fractured it wasn't going to accomplish anything anyway.
-
No Loss!!!
He was often voting with the Democommies any ways.
What this will do is force the disjointed Republicans to fall in line if they ever hope to pass ANYTHING.
But with the weak Republicans repeatedly demonstrating they cannot accomplish much, I am not hopeful they will keep the House, and despite the apparent polling showing they have a shot at the Senate and the presidency, I do not hold my breath for either to take place. If you believe as I do that our national elections are fixed, it is not likely the Democommies will give up power without a fight, including an illegal fixing of whatever number of elections necessary to retain power.
When George Soros owns the company that tabulates the vote, it is not difficult for me to imagine a few ones and zeroes being altered to FIX AN ELECTION. Not hard at all.

No, these resignations are the last gasp of a dying Establishment Loyalist wing in the Pub party. If the person resigning cared about the principals the Pub party claims to have that person would stay until the next election. Instead that person leaves early because it is more important to him to hurt the Pub party than to fight for the principals the Pub party claims to believe in.

So what exactly are those principles right now?

The only principle the GOP has is to shine Donald Trump's shoes as he picks their pockets.
They are worshipping a false idol who will be their ruin.

So, you are OK with Buck's actions?

Treason?
Does he even know what treason is—and if so, what in this situation would even remotely qualify this as treason??? There is no foreign power involved.
-
Next week?????????
What the hell? If he's got a health problem, I get it. Otherwise, WHAT THE HELL?
Exactly. How very strange.
Perhaps he was threatened/blackmailed. That's usually a sure way to get a quick resignation out of someone. Or at least get them to fall in line.
-
Miss me yet...?\
No.
-
So what exactly are those principles right now?
Sometimes it's simply to keep from losing the House. We're in that dynamic right now. Don't vote progressive and don't allow the House to move into the Dems' control.
-
Treason?

Indeed. People are throwing that word around like manhole covers. **nononono*
-
So, you are OK with Buck's actions?
Absolutely not.
The issue with many traditional Republicans in Congress is that they have no fight in them.
The Republican Party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Barry Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan will be salvaged by those running towards the fight for the party, not those running away.
MAGA Madness will eventually burn itself out as their extremism costs them in General Elections, but, the MAGA Madmen will continue to make the rounds in the MAGA media echo chamber as long as there is money to be made, as long as there is an audience, and as long as there are billionaire supporters who are willing to throw money at their campaigns or PACs/SuperPACs.
-
So dead girl or live boy?
-
So dead girl or live boy?
Live boy, definitely.
Dead girl is pretty rare, and besides, he's a Republican.
-
Treason? No. That's bolderdash!
Betrayal, yes.
-
Treason?

To them, not supporting MAGA is treason. Their logic is:
1) Trump and MAGA are "America First";
2) If you're not "America First", you're a globalist;
3) if you're a globalist, you're in service to foreign powers,and therefore....
4) You're a TRAITOR!
-
MAGA is a death cult. Avoid drinking the Rat Poison Flavored Kool-Aid after the Election.
They've already made up their mind that they want Trump to be President again by any means necessary. Anything short of a Putin-style 93% Trump - 7% Biden victory will be a fraudulent election in their eyes.

MAGA is destroying any legitimacy to fighting leftistism.
