Megyn Kelly rips Katie Britt for ‘totally cringe’ State of the Union rebuttal

Radio host and podcaster Megyn Kelly blasted Sen. Katie Britt’s (R-AL) rebuttal to the State of the Union address, saying, “I don’t know what the F I saw.”
The freshman senator addressed the nation from her kitchen in Montgomery, Alabama, following President Joe Biden’s remarks on Thursday, drawing criticism from Kelly and others about the performative nature of her rebuttal.
“The Republicans had an opportunity here to put their best foot forward and just sound normal,” Kelly said. “That’s it. Don’t shout, say normal things, and speak to regular Americans about what’s real, and they blew it, as they do almost all the time in these State of the Union responses.”
Kelly played a few clips exemplifying Britt’s wide range of emotions, in which the senator appeared breathless, on the verge of tears, and spoke slowly to emphasize her message. During the first one, Kelly can be heard saying, “Oh, God,” over Britt.

Chip Roy says Katie Britt thrown ‘to the wolves’ in SOTU response

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) defended Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) after her panned State of the Union response speech, saying she was thrown “to the wolves” due to her lack of Senate speech experience.
Roy went after GOP leadership in a thread on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, alleging that party leaders set Britt up to fail.
He said GOP leaders made a mistake by “throwing a freshman Senator to the wolves by asking her to give the rebuttal knowing she had not yet given even a Senate speech,” he wrote.
Britt’s speech was mocked as awkward, stilted and not genuine. It was even the focus of Saturday Night Live’s cold open, with Scarlett Johansson playing the Senator.
Britt was also criticized for using a story of sexual violence from two decades ago in Mexico as an attack on President Biden. She later said the anachronistic story was still emblematic of problems with Biden’s border policy, but Roy chalked the issue up to a lack of preparation by her party handlers.
He said Britt was left “without fact-checking [for] the speech to help protect her from making an error with an outdated anecdote, & thus allow radical progressive democrats to make THAT the story rather than their dangerous, purposeful open border policies endangering Americans.”

I thought she did a FINE job.
I honestly believe the source of the attacks is based on her being a beautiful (relatively) young REPUBLICAN WOMAN.
Say what you will about the left,but they are on a young and attractive female REPUBLICAN like stupid on a Biden.
The LAST thing they want to face is a conservative female Republican that is attractive because she could cause young women than vote Dim in knee-jerk solidarity MIGHT be temped to vote Republican if they see a female of their own generation getting pushed in front of the cameras/media like that by the RNC.

In years past, the SOTU response speech was typically an afterthought, a big yawn. But, the media wagons have so tightly encircled Biden, and since everyone needs to be relevant, we will condemn any Republican who dares run counter to Big Joe.

Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) is facing intense blowback from her widely panned response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union (SOTU) address that has overshadowed Republican attempts to attack the president.
Britt’s speech has been highly criticized for its content, delivery, and even its setting, in a response far greater than previously maligned presidential responses from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA).
But it is accusations that Britt misled her audience by portraying decades-old events as somehow President Biden’s responsibility that have undermined Republican messaging.
Former Associated Press (AP) reporter Jonathan M. Katz created a stir by posting a video arguing that the graphic tale of sex trafficking and rape Britt used — the cornerstone of her attack on the impacts at home of Biden’s border policies — actually occurred in Mexico during the presidency of George W. Bush.

Junior Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) was thrown “to the wolves,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) said in a thread on social media, concluding that it was a mistake to have her deliver the State of the Union rebuttal when she has never even given a Senate speech.
Britt was skewered by those on the right and left alike after her State of the Union rebuttal. It was not necessarily because of her content alone, as she did talk about rising costs and the immigration crisis, but her overall delivery. The breathy speech — full of pauses, hushed tones, and abrupt emotional switches — failed to resonate with the audience, generating mockery across the board. Some described her speech as “cringe” while others said it was like a “high school freshman speech” and the “worst GOP SOTU reply ever.”
Rep. Roy revealed his thoughts on the matter after the dust settled, concluding that the GOP essentially threw Britt, who has little experience, to the wolves. He also said Britt’s “sin is not the speech, but ever siding with fools running #SwampGOP”:
The #SwampGOP doesn’t get it, as evidenced by the #SOTU debacle. 1) The GOP powers-that-be invite a radical progressive democrat & lawless potus (Biden) to speak, 2) the same week as passing the first 1/2 of a #SwampOmnibus w/ MORE Democrat votes than GOP to give him MORE $$ to continue to his mass-release illegal aliens, many of whom have killed or harmed Americans like Laken Riley, whose name 4) they put on a bill that doesn’t focus on said ‘mass releases,’ while 5) throwing a freshman Senator to the wolves by asking her to give the rebuttal knowing she had not yet given even a Senate speech & 6) without fact-checking the speech to help protect her from making an error with an outdated anecdote, & thus 7) allow radical progressive democrats to make THAT the story rather than their dangerous, purposeful open border policies endangering Americans, that 8) these same chamber-of-commerce GOP were complicit in creating, & then 9) sit silently & let the world pile on Sen. Britt (whose sin is not the speech, but ever siding with fools running #SwampGOP) & allow 10) Laken Riley’s name to be replaced with memes about Britt… while 11) the same #SwampGOP is gearing up to fund Ukraine & continue warrantless searches on Americans… but say “trust us, we’ll do [fill in empty promise] next year.” Want change? PRIMARIES.

*I* happen to think a non-hysterical and non-radical State of the Union speech response was exactly what we need.
Let the Dims continue to be hysterical,and let our pols appear to be quiet,confident and soft-spoken when dealing with the general public.
Yeah,hammer the HELL out of the Dim pols at every opportunity,but we "talking to America",be calm and collected.
