From the Daily Mail:

Quote

A Japanese university has opened a museum acknowledging that its staff dissected downed American airmen while they were still alive during World War Two – an unprecedented step in a society where war crimes are still taboo and rarely discussed.

A gruesome display at the newly-opened museum at Kyushu University explains how eight US POWs were taken to the centre’s medical school in Fukuoka after their plane was shot down over the skies of Japan in May 1945.

There, they were subjected to horrific medical experiments – as doctors dissected one soldier’s brain to see if epilepsy could be controlled by surgery, and removed parts of the livers of other prisoners as part of tests to see if they would survive.

Another soldier was injected with seawater, in an experiment to see if it could be used instead of sterile saline solution to help dehydration. All of the soldiers died from their ordeal.

This is too horrible to think about!

I know a man that was taken prisoner by the Japanese during WWII.  He would never talk about his experience and he hated anything Japanese.

My biology teacher was a Japanese POW. Nice man and a good teacher, but there were days when we'd go to class and the work would be on the board. He'd be hiding in the small stock room at the front of the class, refusing to see anyone. Unlike most of our teachers he had long hair since he was missing an ear.

Wrong. Unit 731, the Japanese Bio warfare unit in Manchuria did vivisection on Allied POWs and Chinese civilians. They tied American Pows to poles surrounding a target area and dropped fragmentation rounds in the center to study the effects of shrapnel on the human body. Then they operated without anesthesia. In the winter they would place a POW's arm [uncovered] through outside window bars, pour water on it until it froze solid, then break it off with clubs. they dropped plague infested fleas on Chinese villages, put typhus in the water, anthrax in the air. Compared to them ISIS IS the JV.
