Texas Scorecard by  Erin Anderson May 15, 2024

The court held that the true outcome of the November 2022 race for 180th District Court cannot be determined.

A judge has ordered a redo of the November 2022 election between Tami Pierce and DaSean Jones for the 180th District Court in Harris County after finding far more illegal votes were cast in the race than the margin of victory.

Pierce, a Republican, contested her 449-vote loss to Democrat incumbent Jones in January 2023, but the case was delayed for nearly a year by a motion to dismiss filed by Jones.

Judge David Peeples, a visiting judge from San Antonio, ruled Wednesday that the true outcome of the election cannot be determined and ordered a new election.

Following a bench trial in April, Peeples found that a total of 1,751 votes in the race should not have been counted, including nearly a thousand illegal votes cast by voters who resided outside of Harris County and more than four hundred cast by voters with no photo ID and incomplete “reasonable impediment” forms.

‘NO Climate Crisis’ Says Coalition of 1,600 Actual Scientists
The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is ‘one of the worst sources of dangerous misinformation’

By Katy Grimes, May 13, 2024 2:55 am

“There is ‘NO Climate Crisis’ says a coalition of 1,600 actual scientists” in a recent letter to the California Air Resources Board. In fact, the scientists find that “California is in no danger of unusual drought: The annual precipitation in California has fluctuated greatly over the last 150 years, with only a slight decrease.”

California also has record low levels of air pollution that are below the threshold of human health effects, James E. Enstrom, PhD, MPH has told us repeatedly for years. He’s also one of the 1,600 scientists signed onto the letter to CARB.

The scientists also insisted that carbon dioxide is beneficial to Earth.

The CO2 Coalition’s letter is particularly timely with Gov. Gavin Newsom taking his climate change road show to the Vatican later this week where he was invited to speak by Pope Francis at a Summit of mayors and governors. The Summit, which will be held from May 15th to May 17th, will cover “the impact of rising temperatures” in local communities, and “climate resilience.”

Using Nets On The Seafloor To Retrieve Seafood ‘Roughly The Same As Running 100 Coal-Fired Plants’
By Kenneth Richard on 13. May 2024

Disturbing resting seafloor CO2 is yet another way humans are believed to be heating up the planet.
Only 1% of the seafloor has been molested by dragging nets through the sand (trawling) in an effort to retrieve the seafood staples we enjoy. But that’s enough to wreak havoc on the Earth’s climate at the top of the atmosphere, 100 km above the ocean surface, where CO2-induced global boiling is activated.

According to a new study and its press release, trawling the ocean floor for shrimp and cod disturbs the “planet-warming carbon dioxide” that had until then been peacefully reposed in sentiment. Dragging nets along the ocean floor “unlocks more carbon from the seafloor than all the world’s airplanes emit each year,” some 370 million metric tons worth.

And, of course, this acidifies the ocean too. When in its undisturbed state, the massive quantities of seafloor CO2 hadn’t been causing ocean acidification. But then as soon as the nets were dragged along the seafloor by humans, the disturbed CO2’s acidification potential was unleashed.

Atheist, nonbinary pro-life activist sentenced to federal prison for FACE Act violation
By Samantha Kamman, Christian Post
 Wednesday, May 15, 2024

The first pro-life atheist indicted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for participating in the 2020 blockade of a Washington, D.C., abortion facility.

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly announced the sentence for nonbinary pro-life activist Herb (Rosemary) Geraghty on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the federal judge sentenced three of Geraghty’s fellow activists — Lauren Handy, John Hinshaw and William Goodman — who also participated in the October 2020 blockade of the Washington Surgi-Clinic. Handy is a member of Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising, another pro-life group of which Geraghty is also a part.

Prior to the nine-month incarceration, Geraghty served as the executive director of the nonpartisan pro-life organization Rehumanize International.

Geraghty was immediately taken into custody after a jury issued a guilty ruling last year on charges of violating the FACE Act.

Geraghty was one of several defendants who participated in an effort to stop the Washington Surgi-Clinic from performing abortions on Oct. 22, 2020. According to prosecutors, Geraghty assisted Handy in planning the blockade.  ...

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. walks back support for 'full-term' abortion
By Ryan Foley, Christian Post
Tuesday, May 14, 2024
Quote
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is seeking to clarify his position on abortion after he appeared to express support for allowing abortion at “full-term.”

Kennedy made the remarks about abortion during an appearance on “The Sage Steele Show” published last week. When asked by host Sage Steele if he supported abortions at “full term,” Kennedy responded that women should have the right to terminate their pregnancy “even if it’s full term.”

In a post on X Friday night, Kennedy suggested that he had changed his position on abortion because he was “willing to listen” to his “family, supporters, and others who shared their perspectives.” He noted that he saw “an emerging consensus” that “abortion should be legal up until a certain number of weeks, and restricted thereafter,” later illustrating his support for keeping abortion legal up until the point “when the baby is viable outside the womb.”

“Even in the reddest of red states, voters reject total abortion bans,” he added. “And on the other end, almost no one supports gruesome third-trimester abortions except to save the life of the mother.” ...

“Sometimes, women abort healthy, viable late-term fetuses,” he explained. “These cases of purely ‘elective’ late-term abortion are very upsetting. Once the baby is viable outside the womb, it should have rights and it deserves society’s protection.”  ...
