As Russia Advances, NATO Considers Sending Trainers Into Ukraine

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/16/us/politics/nato-ukraine.html

Quote
NATO allies are inching closer to sending troops into Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces, a move that would be another blurring of a previous red line and could draw the United States and Europe more directly into the war.

Ukraine’s manpower shortage has reached a critical point, and its position on the battlefield in recent weeks has seriously worsened as Russia has accelerated its advances to take advantage of delays in shipments of American weapons. As a result, Ukrainian officials have asked their American and NATO counterparts to help train 150,000 new recruits closer to the front line for faster deployment.

So far the United States has said no, but Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Thursday that a NATO deployment of trainers appeared inevitable. “We’ll get there eventually, over time,” he said.

I've got mixed feelings about this.  It's probably way too late in the game to do this now.

How about letting the Ukrainians field test them against the Russians?

I think they have been.

‘Republicans’ who endorse Biden aren’t Republicans at all

.

In anticipation of what will likely be another major liberal media narrative during this election cycle, it must be said: Republicans who support President Joe Biden are not Republicans in any meaningful way.

This was an obnoxious media narrative in 2020, which saw Biden trot out several former Republicans at the Democratic National Convention so he could posture as a centrist for voters. Many of those Republicans who backed Biden admitted to being played, given that Biden never contacted them after his election win, an enlightening bout of incompetence that explains exactly why an agitator like former President Donald Trump managed to take over the GOP by railing against a failed old guard establishment.

But it is in liberal media’s interest to pretend that Republicans who back Biden and condemn the entire existing GOP are still Republicans because it feeds into the narrative that Biden is the grand uniter who is willing to cross the aisle. That is why the Hill has compiled a list of “prominent Republicans” who are backing Biden: former RNC Chairman Michael Steele, former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, and former Trump staffer Sarah Matthews.

It is hard to be impressed by the list. Steele hasn’t worked in GOP politics since 2011 and works for MSNBC. Both Kinzinger and Duncan walked out of their jobs right into gigs at another anti-Republican network in CNN. Calling Matthews “prominent” after serving as deputy press secretary for seven months is laughable outside of the circles of Washington, D.C., politicos.

1. Well China sure does believe in Solar.

2. I am also a member of a coop for power and have been getting the credit 2014. Has nothing to do with solar. Several reasons. They charged you more than they anticipated/needed and you get the money back as a credit. When I signed up in our co-op in 1994 they said I would get my first credit back in 20 years

Solar prices are dropping in this country every year and the  systems improve very year
What latitude? How much agricultural land is going to be put out of production (and yes I have seen that). Is that the reason TPTB want us eating bugs--so the cattle don't rub against the solar arrays?

I guess wearing fake eyelashes is a trigger for racism

Crockett says Greene behavior was ‘absolutely’ racist
by Rebecca Beitsch - 05/17/24 12:10 PM ET

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) comments about her physical appearance demonstrate that she’s “absolutely” racist.

“She is racist. I mean, I don’t have any questions about that. Because, I mean, I don’t know that she’s ever attacked her own colleagues,” Crockett said, referring to Greene’s comments during a hearing that descended into chaos after the Georgia lawmaker taunted Crockett over her false eyelashes.

She noted that Greene hasn’t attacked other colleagues over their appearance, including Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), even though the two have feuded in the past.

“Her and Boebert aren’t getting along. Boebert has clip-ins in her hair. And Boebert wears lashes, too, sometimes — it looks like. I don’t know. But she doesn’t attack her for any of her [physical embellishments]. She doesn’t do that, right? But she decided to do it to me. So absolutely [she’s a racist],” Crockett said.

“She probably will raise money, because the racists are going to be so happy to give it to her.”

A meeting to mark up a resolution to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt was overshadowed by Greene’s comments and led to a string of barbs, as well as other comments about the Georgia lawmaker’s appearance.

“Please tell me what that has to do with Merrick Garland,” Crockett said at one point during the hearing, later adding, “Do you know what we’re here for?”

“I don’t think you know what you’re here for,” Greene responded. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”

In 2022, China installed roughly as much solar photovoltaic capacity as the rest of the world combined, then went on in 2023 to double new solar installations, increase new wind capacity by 66 percent, and almost quadruple additions of energy storage.Mar 13, 2024

CHina (Run by their Communist Party) IS a left wing group.  *****rollingeyes*****

Controlling most of the rare earths supply, slave labor, and with a totalitarian government, you can accomplish a lot.

Now tell me a bout the Spratly Islands, hegemony over the South China Sea, and offshore oil.

Durbin calls for Alito recusal from Jan. 6 cases over upside-down flag that flew at his home
by Al Weaver - 05/17/24 12:27 PM ET

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) called on Justice Samuel Alito to recuse himself from all cases related to the 2020 election and Jan. 6, 2021, after it was reported an upside-down American flag was flown outside his home in the days surrounding the attack.

According to The New York Times, an upside-down version of the flag was flown outside the Alitos’ home in Alexandria, Va., on Jan. 17, 2021, and potentially for several days during that time. The justice said in a statement that he has “no involvement whatsoever in flying the flag” and said his wife, Martha-Ann, hung the flag as part of a dispute with neighbors.

However, the news comes as the court is set to rule on two key Jan. 6-related cases, including whether former President Trump has immunity from prosecution. Durbin said Alito should step back during those cases and play no role in those rulings.

“Flying an upside-down American flag — a symbol of the so-called ‘Stop the Steal’ movement — clearly creates the appearance of bias,” Durbin said.
