Biden’s Voldemortian theory of privilege: The president whose voice must not be heard
by Jonathan Turley, Opinion Contributor - 05/18/24 10:30 AM ET

While all eyes were focused on a Manhattan courthouse for Donald Trump’s trial, a curious thing happened in Washington. President Joe Biden invoked executive privilege in defiance of Congress.

It is not the invocation that is particularly unusual. What is curious is that Biden is withholding the audiotape of his own interrogation by Special Counsel Robert Hur, even though the transcript has been released as unprivileged.

It appears that Joe Biden is “he who must not be heard.”

The invocation of privilege over the audiotape is so transparently political and cynical that it would make Richard Nixon blush. Multiple committees are investigating Biden for possible impeachment and conducting oversight on the handling of the investigation into his retention and mishandling of classified material over decades. Classified documents were found in various locations where Biden lived or worked, including his garage. The mishandling of classified material is uncontestable. Broken boxes, unprotected areas and lack of tracking are all obvious from the photos.

The comparison to the Trump case in Florida is both obvious and disturbing. Where Trump was charged with a litany of charges, including mishandling and retention of documents (in addition to obstruction), Hur decided not to charge Biden at all. His reason was outright alarming: The president is an elderly man with failing memory.

I have them all over my yard and trees...it's terrible.

Mike knocked some of them off one of the trees them scooped them up with the lawn mower.

They are not only on the trees and yard they are on the house...you have to check yourself before coming inside..they get all over you too!

Billions of cicadas from two different broods will emerge this spring in a rare, buzzy natural phenomenon that hasn’t happened since 1803.

The insects belong to two distinct populations of periodical cicadas: one that surfaces from underground every 13 years and another that emerges every 17 years. The last time these specific groups—called Brood XIII and Brood XIX, respectively—lined up their cycles and appeared at the same time, Thomas Jefferson was president, reports NBC News’ Denise Chow.

Though some cicadas surface every year, periodical cicadas spend most of their lives underground before emerging en masse every 13 or 17 years to mate and start the cycle over again.

Any pair of broods may occasionally overlap and emerge in the same year. But these specific groups—Brood XIII (also known as the Northern Illinois Brood) and Brood XIX (or the Great Southern Brood)—only appear simultaneously once every 221 years, making 2024 an especially exciting period for entomologists and bug aficionados alike.

I've got some news. I am not withholding my taxes from the IRS. I have just decided to place a pause on paying them, and that pause is still in place. Surely, the Biden administration will understand and take no action against me given this incredible new standard that has been set.

Priceless.

I am getting bombed with Lake requests for money.

She's crowing about the ad buy that her left-wing certified whack-job opponent is buying.

I want to write back and say....I ain't sending you a dime.  You brought this on yourself and I won't be paying for your stupidity.

Thank you so much for handing this seat over to a real loser.

It's not 'climate change' that is killing off joshua trees.  It's 'climate change hysteria' that's doing it.

Cutting down trees causes climate change.  Thanks a lot, libs.

Liberals like to showcase that less snow cover at the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro shows that the planet heating up is melting all the snow (even though their own temperature data show average global temperatures have increased less than 2°F since the birth of Christ).  No, the reason there is less snow cover at the peak of Kilimanjaro is because there is less snow.  And there is less snow because of clear cutting of forest land nearby.

But then you're not going to be able to wield control over other people's lives here in America over something as simple as cutting down trees in Tanzania.  No, you need some bullshit story about how Americans using a gas stove is destroying the planet in Africa.  Liars.

SMH. You do know with  20 degree rise in temps the continental  US would become a vast desert, water would dry up.

Pure unadulterated fear-mongering bullshit.  It's already 20 degrees warmer in Brazil.
