What a Banana Republic mess we are in.
Wow. Can’t help but feel this is a preemptive move to distract attention away from the Biden crime family. The so-called MSN will be breathless.
What is the alleged crime here? It may say something about Trump’s character but being immoral isn’t a crime
Prosecutors have focused on whether Trump falsified internal business records to hide the reimbursement from voters, which would be a misdemeanor under New York law. This offense could be elevated to a felony if done to commit or conceal a second crime, in this case a potential violation of campaign finance laws. Prosecutors could argue that the hush-money payment effectively became an illegal donation to Trump’s campaign under the theory that his candidacy benefited from Daniels’ silence.
Waters: Trump's Indictment Post 'Like He's Attempting to Organize His Domestic Terrorists'
Ian Hanchett
On Saturday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Saturday Show,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) reacted to former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social post earlier in the day on reports that he will be indicted soon by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg by stating that by making the announcement himself, “it’s almost like he’s attempting to organize his domestic terrorists to show up and to resist him being arrested.” And “perhaps, he was trying to organize domestic terrorists to protest his arrest.”
Waters said, “[M]ost people have never seen or believed that we would have a President who has acted in the way that he has, who has disrespected the Constitution of the United States of America, who has lied, who has tried to organize domestic terrorists, and some believe that he did organize them as they attacked our Capitol on January 6. … When he announces himself, it’s almost like he’s attempting to organize his domestic terrorists to show up and to resist him being arrested. You have to be careful with him.”
She added, “I just wanted to have you…understand that perhaps, he was trying to organize domestic terrorists to protest his arrest. And I think we have to be careful about him making that announcement. He’s doing it for a reason.”

NYC law enforcement sources telling me that the Manhattan DA’s office is “in chaos.” They’re telling me about 60% of the office wants no part of this and wishes Bragg and Reiss would just stop the nonsense. They all know there is no crime. Apparently all being driven by a small group of radicals at the top. Very similar to RussiaGate.

Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump. I guess we are just gonna skirt the issue of this being 100% Trump's fault and the electorate pretty much knew what they were voting for, but denied it mattered. It is bad enough when someone can pull the rug over your eyes with a hidden past, Trump left a bread trail 3 miles wide (time and time and time again).https://www.gopbriefingroom.com/Smileys/default/high-five.png

I believe that the candidate’s character will be a bigger issue than in years past in 2024. I don’t mean perfection. But if voters feel the candidate is a decent person generally
On this issue, only the facts and the law should matter and not Trump’s character flaws. But after the Russian collusion “scandal” I find myself way more skeptical on the motivations for this charge and especially being brought by the likes of Alvin Bragg.
Well, you're right about one thing... it can't be about character... How could it be?
Tumpy doesn't have any.
Twenty-friggin-TRILLION dollars.
And I'm the fool? :silly:
I would hope for the first part, and agree wholeheartedly with the second.
And if they drag him into court over a misdemeanor as the grand finale of this half-decade long witch hunt, it will hurt them more than him. Guaranteed.
But the fact of the matter still stands. We'd have been far better off not ignoring character. Integrity before all. Always.
You go and sell Trump and all his unpopularity and sky high negatives to the electorate in 2024 again
I wish you luck in that adventure. Maybe you’ll get lucky
If not, you can bitch up until you’re on your deathbed how “ you wuz wobbed.” Lol
And, despite RIVs protests, I believe it still matters to voters at large

We ought to see the peril this type of political persecution places our existence. In recent decades we have seen the obvious crimes and malfeasances of the Clintons, the overt crimes and possible treasonous activities of the Biden family. Yet, we weaponize Federal, State and local agencies with the intent to politically destroy DJT whatever the cost. We are decaying by intent. It doesn’t matter what I think of Donald Trump. This is wrong.

Pence says an arrest of Trump would be a ‘politically charged prosecution’
NY Post, Mar 19, 2023
Former Vice President Mike Pence said the potential arrest of ex-President Donald Trump by the Manhattan district attorney would be a “politically charged prosecution.”
In a interview that aired Sunday on ABC News’ “This Week,” Pence said he was “taken aback the idea of indicting a former president of the United States, at a time when there’s a crime wave in New York City.”
“The fact that the Manhattan DA thinks that indicting President Trump is his top priority, I think … just tells you everything you need to know about the radical left in this country,” the former veep said.

DeSantis' political resume:
Ballotpedia:
Ron DeSantis (Republican Party) is the Governor of Florida. He assumed office on January 8, 2019. His current term ends on January 5, 2027.
DeSantis (Republican Party) ran for re-election for Governor of Florida. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
As governor, DeSantis received national attention for his response to the coronavirus pandemic, refusing to enact many restrictions implemented by other U.S. governors.[1][2][3]
Before serving as governor, DeSantis represented Florida's 6th congressional district in the U.S. House. He was elected to three terms beginning in 2012. DeSantis resigned his U.S. House seat on September 10, 2018, during his gubernatorial campaign.[4]
As a representative, DeSantis was a founding member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus.[5] He sponsored amendments to institute term limits for members of Congress, supported efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, and proposed limiting funding for Robert Mueller's investigation into the 2016 Donald Trump (R) presidential campaign's alleged involvement with Russia related to 2016 presidential election interference.[6]
DeSantis served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps and as legal adviser to a U.S. Navy SEAL commander in Iraq. DeSantis became a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves following his active duty service and continued to serve during his first term as governor.[7]
From his campaign for House in 2012 to his 2018 gubernatorial campaign, DeSantis described himself as a "conservative in the Reagan tradition."[8][9]
Britannica:
DeSantis subsequently worked as a federal prosecutor. In 2011 he published Dreams from Our Founding Fathers: First Principles in the Age of Obama, in which he described his brand of conservatism and criticized the policies of Pres. Barack Obama. The following year DeSantis ran for a seat in the House of Representatives and was easily elected to represent District 6 in northeastern Florida. During his tenure, he cofounded (2015) the conservative House Freedom Caucus and became a frequent commentator on Fox News. Backed by the Tea Party, a conservative populist movement, DeSantis announced his bid for the Senate in 2015 but withdrew after incumbent Republican Marco Rubio decided to seek reelection. In 2017 Donald Trump became president, and DeSantis was among his most vocal supporters. That year he supported Trump’s massive tax-reform bill and the unsuccessful effort to replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

DeSantis was well known long before Trump, looks like he might have made Trump in FL, not the other way around.

Trump advisers argued against calling for protests if he's indicted
Max Thornberry
Former President Donald Trump’s advisers urged him not to call for protests in the event he is criminally indicted next week, according to reports.
After the infamous riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, an event that followed Trump giving a fiery speech and touting conspiracy theories that the 2020 election was stolen from him, aides were concerned a call for more protests would not look good for the former president, according to CNN.

@Cyber Liberty
I can go either way with that one, depending on what he says or does that day.
I am on record as stating I want to see him as Trump's VP running mate. I am not certain we haven't already fallen so far there is no recovery, thanks to all the illegal aliens the left let into the country to live like upper-middle class retirees for free at any age that there is no real hope for recovery at this point.
I do NOT see any Kissy-face Republican candidate BUT Trump having any chance at all of changing things. We NEED a rude bully to shake things up and expose what the left has been doing in the full light of day.
More of the same will end up turning American into a "USSR,Part 2".
Hell,I am not even sure it's not already too late to turn things around.
Give "RUDE ORANGE MAN" a chance to shake things up,and then have DeSantis sitting in the wings as the VP to take over after 4 years and MAYBE have a goos shot at remaining in office for 8 years. That will give America a total of 12 years to turn things around, and it just MIGHT be enough time.

I don't find it hard to believe that the Dims, other repubs OR (this will upset you) that Donald himself started this. If it happens I guess we'll see.
I will agree that the media will be no friend to Trump.
Before you accuse me of envy...I have no envy of his wealth, social standing or crowds. When he first ran the only knowledge I had of the man was "You're Fired!" and bad hair. I like the values he proclaims to believe in. But sadly, unless you are able to put together a coalition in DC...you will fail. Along with that he had people working against him, as most presidents do. Trump was used to running a corp...or selling himself (which he was best at).
I don't care if he's orange or rich. I do care that he is rude when there is no reason to be. He is supposed to be an example. He was President. I think Bubba's crap affected the youth. It's all ok.
I used to be on TOS. When this first started a poster (that I was friendly with) accused me of wealth envy for pointing out that he had "seed money". Like it or not...this is true. The envy angle really isn't the best way to go. A whole lot of people ....don't give a s#&t.

IMNSHO,there is no other potential Presidential candidate in the nation any of us can say that about.
I see fools that say they don't want him as President because of his ego. Hell,I wouldn't want him if he didn't.

No problem if he runs as Trump's running mate. That can't mean anything but good things for Florida.
What do Trump's supporters accomplish by calling DeSantis a bitch? How does that make Trump look better?
Because Desantis is a threat.

@roamer_1
Which pretty much proves that is what he needs to do.
Quite the opposite @sneakypete
Without Conservatives there will be no saving anything.
If DeSantis is so loosely tied to his principles as to join up with the likes of Tumpy, then that would prove, as y'all say, that he is not a TEA Party Reagan Conservative, and just another RINO like the rest of them.
And then he is dead to me, and rightly so.
Just wait and see. In short order you will find that "DeSantis" is just a shiny object for the PtB to disrupt the GOP 2024 primary and beyond. Mark this post. If you won't acknowledge @Right_in_Virginia warning you, remember that I did.

@libertybele
It might show he is man enough to admit he was not only wrong, but guilty of putting ambition ahead of country.
@sneakypete your arguments have been truly persuasive on this subject, and that’s not just because I agree with what you’re saying.
It would raise him a notch with me if DeSantis gave a statement and put an end to the rampant speculation he’s running. That would demonstrate to me that he truly understand the gravity of the threat America is facing from the global international left.
He worries me, however because he seems unconcerned that his silence is fueling the speculation. Doesn’t he notice what is happening within the primary voters, a growing internecine disunity which gives democrats an unfortunate unforced opportunity in the general election. Clear up the speculation -or- admit the truth.
Desantis just gave a statement decrying the politicization of the DA's office in Manhattan.
@Weird Tolkienish Figure
Good for him!
Better late, even if it IS an act of political desperation, than never.

Mr. Kassam should realize that what's going on is a matter - at this point - of purely NY internal law. Why is everyone demanding that the governor of Florida intervene in a matter that involves NY internal law?

DeSantis put out a strong speech supporting Donald Trump, attacking the globalists, and their Soros-backed corrupt prosecutors. This should bring unity to the right. So what do the instigators do? They try to turn this into a DeSantis vs Trump thing.

If this goes thru we will finally have proof positive that a big fat orange ham samitch can in fact be indicted.
We all know that if DeSantis had left his wife and children and flew to LA to galivant with a P0rn star Trump would not shut up about it.
I vote record. Not rumor, @art.prout ... You should know that about me by now
If Tumpy ain't careful, he will be solely responsible for making DeSantis bulletproof, loooong before the Democrats get a crack at him.
And that’s how it should be. Not lofty promises nor rumors. Because the record is the only concrete thing that you can come to a conclusion on when it comes to any candidate.
Speaking of which, of all people who should know the folly of putting unsubstantiated rumors out about a particular candidate should be Trump supporters themselves. We witnessed the rumors of Russian prostitute peeing on him, colluding with Vladimir Putin to win the election over Hillary Clinton, “very fine people” hoax…
:yowsa:DeSantis has played it perfectly. For him it's not a real issue because it's outside his jurisdiction, and he is only the Governor of Florida. The House GOP is gonna investigate, and Trump has plenty of money to fight the flimsy charges.
Not his fight.

Why resort to a false apples to oranges tortured comparison?. It adds nothing to the debate and reduces rational Americans to idiots.
In case you missed this pointing-up. @Free Vulcan
...“I’ve seen rumors swirl. I have not seen any facts yet and so I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I do know this: The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor,” DeSantis said when asked about the looming indictment after a weekend of silence on the matter.
DeSantis continued to bash the Soros-funded prosecutors, explaining they routinely “weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety.”
“He has downgraded over 50 percent of the felonies to misdemeanors,” the governor said of Bragg.
“He says he doesn’t want to even have jail time for the vast, vast majority of crimes,” DeSantis continued, explaining that the crime rate has risen in Manhattan, putting the safety of citizens in jeopardy...
...“We are not involved in this [and] won’t be involved in this. I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA, ok?” DeSantis said, accusing Bragg of creating a “political spectacle” and virtue-signaling to his leftist base.
DeSantis added he has “real issues” to deal with in the Sunshine State.
“I’ve got so many things pending in front of the legislature. I’ve got to spend my time on issues that actually matter to people. I can’t spend my time worrying about things or things of that nature, so we’re not going to be involved in it in any way,” he added.

I certainly wouldn't put it past Trump to fabricate this whole picture to garner support. After all it's all about him.
We all know that if DeSantis had left his wife and children and flew to LA to galivant with a P0rn star Trump would not shut up about it.
Standing squarely and firmly for the rule of law and against a political prosecution --- of both a former president and current candidate AND a citizen of the "free state" of Florida is not his fight?????? Then who needs this clown?
We are probably witnessing the beginning of the end of both Trump and Desantis’s aspirations, if DeSantis had any, for high office
DeSantis won’t win the primary and Trump won’t win the general

DeSantis won't win the 2024 primary, mainly because Trump will have salted the earth on that one. However, if he keeps his powder dry, and bides his time until 2028 - which will give him plenty of time to build up the political capital he will eventually need as president - then I don't see why Trump's tantrums spell the end of DeSantis' own political aspirations.
They do spell another four years of destruction and stupidity for this country, but that would not be DeSantis' fault if he chose to stay out of a race that has been poisoned by Trump.
@Right_in_Virginia
Not his circus, not his monkeys. DeSantis has more important things to do right now than trying to rescue Trump from another of his foibles.
I'll refresh you on what he said in case you forgot. He addressed it exactly as it should have been by practicing Federalism and staying in his lane, and ultimately true leadership.
Nope. The defeat of Ron DeSanctus will be epic. His national career will be over.
Instead of waiting for his statehouse to protect his job while he flames out in the primary, DeSanctus would be smarter to have them remove current obstacles to his being Florida's governor for life.

You people are totally unhinged. DeSantis condemned Alvin Bragg as a Soros plant. Yes he needled Trump over the affair, in deadpan style. Lord knows he had it coming after the past five months. Get over it, this isn't Russia.
Sorry, I refuse to get my knickers in a twist over something that hasn't happened. I will not play the left's game.

But leave it to a few bad apples to poop the pooch into an epic stench by deflecting his problems on those who won't put the knee pads on. Funny how these things roll.

Trump lashes out at DeSantis, says he regrets his endorsement of him
Former President Donald Trump is intensifying his attacks on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, calling him disloyal and saying that his political career would have been over had he not endorsed his ultimately successful 2018 campaign.
“He was dead as a dog, he was a dead politician. He would have been working perhaps for a law firm or doing something else,” Trump told a small group of reporters aboard his plane on Monday afternoon en route to Iowa, where he was to make an appearance that evening.
Asked if he regretted endorsing Ron DeSantis for governor in 2018, Donald Trump responded: “Yeah maybe, this guy was dead. He was dead as a doornail.” | Alex
