On the pages of The Washington Post, columnist Kathleen Parker (who poses as a Republican) compared the Republican Party to a fictional mafia crime family and refers to Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz as "Ted bin Laden," an obvious reference to the Osama bin Laden, the Islamist terrorist responsible for the murder of thousands of Americans:

Quote
In trying to understand the Republican Party’s internal battles, it helps to think of Michael and Sonny.

Corleone, that is. …

That would be Ted Cruz, the Texas senator who grabbed headlines by speaking for 21 hours against Obamacare. Cruz is neither Michael nor Sonny but the star of his own movie. He’s Ted bin Laden — the guy who hands out suicide vests and then goes to lunch.

The family clash between the Corleone brothers is about to become bloodier, though it doesn’t have to. What needs to happen is for certain parties to become wiser and to absorb this simple truth: You cannot govern if you cannot win.

Parker closes the column with the suggestion that "it may be time for Sonny [Corleone] to take a drive through the toll plaza. Maybe he could give Ted bin Laden a lift."

Parker is referring to the famous scene in the Academy Award-winning "The Godfather" where Sonny Corleone is machine-gunned to death at a toll booth.

She is one of the FIVE so-called conservatives who met off the record with Obama last week.  Also the so-called conservative who never liked Palin.

It's curious how Ms. Parker, in pursuing her shallow Godfather metaphor never mentions Fredo - the weak-willed sibling who envies his brother's strength, craves access to the power wielded by others, and recklessly betrays his brother to his enemies.

Hmmm... I wonder why that might be?

Fredo will be played by John McCain, with Peter King as his understudy.

Gee, I wonder if Parker will be the first "conservative" to get away with this kind of allusion.
