He would never do such a thing!' Trump posts photos of Ron DeSantis allegedly partying with high school girls as a teacher as he ramps up attacks on Republican rival
Donald Trump, who ripped through the 2016 presidential field with attacks on his rivals, reposted images of a young Ron DeSantis allegedly partying with high school teens and adding his own mocking commentary.
The post linked to a Truth Social Account that grabbed a digital image of a young man with a bowl haircut who appears to be DeSantis surrounded by three young women.
One of them, who has her arm around the now-Florida governor, is smiling and appears to be holding a brown glass bottle.
The hit comes as DeSantis has been rising in the polls and lining up influential supporters.
To drive home the point, Trump also re-posted a message by a user named Dong-Chan Lee, who wrote that 'Ron DeSantis was having a "drink" party with his students when he was a high school teacher. Having drinks with underage girls and cuddling with them certainly look pretty gross and ephebophiliaesque,' a term relating to attraction to adolescents.
'No way?' wrote Trump on Tuesday.

So obviously, there zero evidence that any of those girls are underage - look more like college girls. But it is enlightening to see what Trump is willing to say about a Republican governor just to try to get an edge in the primaries.
Of course, it'll just backfire and drive more people away from Trump. What I think is most interesting is that Trump doesn't seem to realize that.

Just when you think Trump can't go any lower, he out does himself. @Right_in_Virginia you should be proud....NOT!

:facepalm2:

He's only highlighting why he shouldn't run again.

Bear in mind that the damage is already done. His true believers are already split against DeSantis - And we will hear this over and over again, just as the lies told about Cruz spoiled him.
It does not matter if it is true or not.

And if he goes with the same bullshit strategy he did in 2016 it ensures another Biden term.

I don't think he has the poop to get it done. Especially starting this early. He is basically a shock jock. His shtick works best in the heat of the moment... With a year and a half head start, folks are going to continue to get plenty sick of his manipulations way before everyone else even jumps in.

I think it will depend on who in the MSM and on social media start amplifying what he's saying and doing.

Oh, I know... And he does not have to have a platform - He will do exactly what he did last time. He will work to make every other contender non-viable. That makes him the only viable candidate, regardless of his awful record and phony promises.
And if that's the case, faced with a Democrat, most everybody here will vote for him anyway.
That's how it will go... I just don't think he has the poop to win it.
-
Of all people doing this...Trump was inundated with crap like this for years and should know how it feels...now he does it to another Republican... 9999hair out0000

I hope that that Conservatives are a little wiser this time and don't fall for his BS and "lock her up" promises designed only to get applause from a crowd.

He's proving he is a one trick pony, he told blatant lies about Cruz which his acolytes sucked up as if it was manna from Heaven and he's dumb enough to believe that people are dumb enough(well some are) to by his bullshi, er, lies again. What Trump just may accomplish is pushing DeSantis to run, and he may be very sorry this happens. I know that his unfiltered , juvenile comments are pushing me away from voting for him.
-
Okay … DeSantis was 23. He should not have partied with students. Is this all Donnie has? Dude was taking rides on the Lolita Express. Not that his fanatics care.
-

You had it right the first time. As Harry G. Frankfurt defined the term, in his charming little book On Bullsh**, bullsh** is saying whatever is expedient without regard to the truth or falsity of the statement. To lie, you need to know that what you are saying is false, and say it anyway for the purpose of deceiving someone. Incidentally Frankfurt concluded his discussion having drawn the conclusion that bullsh**ing is a greater enemy of truth than lying, in as much as the liar must actually know the truth, while the bullsh**er has no regard for truth whatsoever.

I think that's a very good point. There's no shock value remaining at something you've heard 1000 times.

Honestly, from the background that has come out, it was after graduation, and he was probably invited to the class party and made a courtesy appearance. Looks to me like a "Let's go take a picture with Mr. DeSantis" moment. No claim he provided any alcohol or hit on any of the girls. A complete nothing, but the same type of sleaze the Democrats tried to use against Kavanaugh.

This how you handle Trump.
Today DeSantis was asked about Trump implying he was a groomer. His response "I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden," the Florida governor said. "That's how I spend my time. I don't spend my time trying to smear other Republicans."
:patriot:
Trumps response will be, release more pictures.

I used to have Trump ahead of Haley. Not anymore.
And he's very close to "I think I'll skip that line on the ballot" in the general election.

Seems you are correct, based on the information we have. The Florida dems passed on this. Too bad Donald lacks the discernment of Andrew Gillum. I guess his credit with David Pecker dried up, so he had to transform his personal account into a tabloid.

1.) Have any of those women accused Ron DeSantis of rape or sexual assault?
2.) Have any of those women accused DeSantis of grabbing them by the poonannner?
3.) Did Putin's Internet Research Bureau troll those pics for Trump?
4.) Looks like DeSantis is a perfectly healthy and normal heterosexual male.
-
Actually, Trump’s behavior in the last several months is actually a good thing.
It gives more and more people a chance to really scrutinize him over other candidates and find him lacking versus him getting the nomination and behaving like this

A perfect response. Maybe Trump should go to the School of DeSantis responses.
I know that Trump doesn't believe this, but this drives a lot of voters away. Well, maybe not the true believers. In 2016, he had no record to run on so he denigrated his opponents. I didn't agree, but I got what he was doing. He now has a positive record that he could point to. He could align with other powerful (DeSantis, etc) Pubs and possibly wipe the board .
Although this would empower him...he is so insecure he has to degrade those that could help him.
My assessment...the boy just ain't that bright.

DeSantis rebuts Trump’s ‘groomer’ attack, insists he doesn’t ‘smear other Republicans’
by Ryan King, Breaking News Reporter
February 08, 2023 04:32 PM
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) brushed off former President Donald Trump's fiery screed against him while adhering to his playbook and avoiding a slugfest with his potential 2024 foe.
On Tuesday, Trump flashed an uncorroborated photo that purported to show DeSantis drinking with students during a teaching gig he had in his early 20s. Trump insinuated he was grooming high school girls in a series of fiery Truth Social posts. But, DeSantis again refused to take the bate.
"I'd just say this: I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden," DeSantis told reporters Wednesday to applause from onlookers.
"I don't spend my time trying to smear other Republicans," He said. ...

That assumes it's not deepfake.
Which, at this point, given the extremely dubious origins of the image from a troll account on Trump's own platform, is hard for me to believe.
His team faked that picture. And that's why as long as he is alive and capable of communicating, he's a danger and a menace to society.
-

Wow. You are well and truly desperate.

I would like to see any and all financial compensation @Right_in_Virginia is receiving to shill for Trump, because it's the only explanation I can find for this kind of consistent behavior and sycophantry.
-
Don't forget... Back in '16 the Trump/Pecker/Stone slime machine had (among other lies) Cruz' wife theatening to jump off a bridge in a crazed rage.
I put the "believability" factor on this story at this point about a "2" out of 10.

The man is simply toxic.
You'd have to be fool to think he'll change.

Well, Trump aside for a moment, maybe you can help me better appreciate conservative principles @jmyrlefuller Are we now defending male teachers drinking with their underage female students? I could be cool with that --- but just want to be sure I've got it right before I jump on the bandwagon. Is this grace available to teachers everywhere, or DeSantis specific? Thanks for your help, it's appreciated.

Where is the evidence that he was their teacher at the time this picture was taken, and that they were drinking alcohol?

One, we don't know any facts except one: Trump is besmirching a fellow Republican. Two, I could care less what Ron DeSantis did when he was in his early 20s.

Please, @massadvj Reagan agreeing with the sentiment (coined by the state Republican Party chairman) that Republicans shouldn't speak poorly of other Republicans shielded him from such speech during his run for Governor in 1966 as a newly minted Republican. Let it go already.
To your other point: Is there nothing DeSantis may have done at 23 that would matter to you? Do you apply the same standard to all politicians?

When I got out of the Army, I got set up on a blind double date by a friend of mine with a girl that was a friend of his girlfriend. I was in my early 20s at the time and not dating anybody so I went. We saw movie and then we went back to my friends house with the girls and picked up some beer to watch movies.
During the evening, one of the girls asked the other one about an assignment that was due Monday and the other girl responded that she didn’t even start on it. I asked if they were going to the local university or the local vocational school. They responded that they were actually students at the local high school. I started asking my date how old she was and it turned out that she was one month shy of 16. I immediately left. The weird part about that was is the guy who set me up with her. His girlfriend was the same age and he was three years older than me.
No, it is not OK for a 23-year-old to be partying with underage kids. But this shows how desperate Donnie is getting. This is similar to what he did with Ted Cruz’s wife. It may get standing ovations from his most unquestioning followers. But the rest of sane society just rolls their eyes.
-

If he'd raped a woman, killed someone, had sex with a 12 year old, or been a heroin dealer, then sure.
But this is just a photo of DeSantis with women who appear to be not children, who may or may not be drinking alcohol, and with everyone fully clothed.
Now, if there was a photo of him hanging out with a pedophile like Jeffrey Epstein or something, I might be a bit more concerned about what was happening when a camera was not there....

I even have a more scarier example....
Back when I was 19 (about 1976), I was helping this High School Band, and an attractive young lady accosted me at their game, and said she would come see me after the college game I performed in band (the next night). I kind of blew it off, thinking , you know,,,,, yeah sure.
Well she did show up, and she talked me into taking her to one of the local watering holes, where she subsequently downed two Hurricanes (In 10 minutes, and she weighed no more than 100 lbs.). Well after about 20 minutes, she fully passed out, and I had to carry her out of the establishment like a sack of potatoes.
So there is this young high school girl totally passed out in my car, its 1 AM, and I don't know where she lives, really who she is. When I finally rouse her by 3AM, and get some coffee down her, she confesses that she is only 14. At that point I am at the point of panicking. Finally, by 5AM, she's gets enough sobriety to direct me to one of her friend's house, dropped her off, and I thankfully speed away.
Needless to say, the next few weeks I was looking behind my shoulder in paranoia for the Law. Lesson learned, that I hope every young guy gets. This is maybe the most scared I ever was in my life.
-
Kudos to @Right_in_Virginia that said, why bother with these morons?

I had the same reaction as I was leaving the date and for the next few days. I kept thinking the cops were going to show at my door for buying someone underage alcohol and I kept thinking how would I explain that. I wasn’t sure “I didn’t know her age” would be a valid excuse.

You'd might have some credibility if you face wasn't stuck to Trump's ass - every time he pulls this crap.

I voted for Trump twice. He's not getting any more votes from me.
What he and his supporters are trying to do to the GOP has to be stopped.

It's worth remembering that @Right_in_Virginia asked what is consistent with conservative principles. But Trump is a populist, not a conservatives, so I suppose conservative rules and expectations don't apply to him.
The way populists look at it, anything he does is just more evidence that he's "alpha".
-

What the heck does this pointing-up post have to do with the questions I asked: ---- "Is accepting a teacher drinking with his (or her) underage students now a rock solid conservative principle? Does it apply to all educators or just one?'
As a resident expert on all things conservative, how about taking a crack at answering them?

You claim facts not in evidence. That's the start of the problem.

Since you posted the question to me, I will give you my answer. It does not matter to me whether it is a consistent with conservative principles because I do not consider myself a conservative, although my views align with conservatives on a number of issues. So this is something for others to consider.
-
What the heck does this pointing-up post have to do with the questions I asked: ---- "Is accepting a teacher drinking with his (or her) underage students now a rock solid conservative principle? Does it apply to all educators or just one?'
@Right_in_Virginia
You know, I'm getting rather tired of you asking questions of other people but consistently refusing to address any of their responses or questions posed to you. I am not going to play that game any longer.
It has been pointed out to you repeatedly in this thread that there is no evidence of when that picture was taken, what was being drunk, who provided any alcohol, how old those females were, or any of the other context. You have repeatedly have ignored those responses and kept asking your "When did DeSantis stop beating his wife" questions.
I'm not playing by your ridiculous, one-sided rules.
Trump has engaged in well documented, much worse behavior that all of his supporters, including you, are perfectly willing to overlook. That confirms that you are not truly interested in what conduct is moral, but rather only how you can spin lame innuendo to smear any Republican perceived as a potential challenger to Trump.
The willingness of Trump and many of his supporters, including you, to burn down the GOP if necessary to have him win the animation is toxic to the greater cause of conservatism, and trying to get this country on the right track.
-
Since you posted the question to me, I will give you my answer. By the way you never actually answered the question as to whether you were paid to post here in support of Trump.

@Right_in_Virginia
You know, I'm getting rather tired of you asking questions of other people but consistently refusing to answer any of the questions posed to you. I am not going to play that game any longer.
It has been pointed out to you repeatedly in this thread that there is no evidence of when that picture was taken, what was being drunk, who provided the alcohol, how old those females were, or any of context. You have repeatedly ignored that and kept asking your "When did DeSantis stop beating his wife" questions.
Thanks for the scattered word salad @Maj. Bill Martin - But, all you needed to say was:. "I don't wanna answer your questions and risk exposing the hypocrisy within the conservative ranks.". . (https://www.jeffdunham.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/walter.png)

Anyone want to take bets on how long it takes for the string of bimbos to come forward to offer wholly unprovable, salacious 'witness' to bolster this scurrilous claim?

You claim facts not in evidence. That's the start of the problem.
facts and truth don't matter for those in the Trump cult.

Once again, you find another excuse not to address anyone else's counterpoints or questions. No comment on the lack of support for the allegations against DeSantis, and no response to the hypocrisy of Trump's proven/admitted conduct.
At least your pattern is consistent.

Alyssa Farah Griffin: ‘Overhyped’ DeSantis will ‘implode’ following sustained Trump attacks
BY DOMINICK MASTRANGELO - 02/09/23 12:40 PM ET
Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin is predicting that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis won’t last long in the GOP White House primary against former President Trump.
“On DeSantis, I think he’s so overhyped. I’m just gonna be honest. I have seen Trump take out every mini version of Trump for the last five years,” Griffin said during Thursday’s edition of ABC’s “The View.” “Right now, the party wants someone other than Trump, they want Trump-lite, so they’re boosting and hyping DeSantis.”
DeSantis has not announced any plans to seek the Republican nomination for president but is widely expected to in the coming months. Trump declared his candidacy for a second term in the White House soon after last fall’s midterm elections.

You don't think the democrats have a treasure trove of information on DeSantis? Also interesting.

That they DIDN'T USE in a tight race to keep him out of the governor's chair?
Yeah, right...
And that ain't the point.
The point is Tumpy's typical feckless character assassination.
-
Obviously, Trump is trolling for that, which is why he posted the picture.
Yeah... That's how it went against Cruz.

If he was mini-Tump, I sure as hell wouldn't be voting for him.

Same here. He's about as far as you can get from Trump in many, many ways.

Agreed. This is the classic unforced error.
Without picking this fight, he had reasonably good status among right leaning non-worshipers, despite COVID and a couple of other policy errors. While COVID can (and should) be laid at Fauci's and other doorsteps, this whole thing with DeSantis is unnecessary, provocational, and unnecessarily divisive. Left alone, DeSantis said he wasn't interested in running. Now, he might, which leaves a split on the non-Biden side that will serve no one. Especially with the 'greatest fraud machine in the history of our country' to beat, one which has only a couple scratches in the paint compared to the damage that should be, have been, and should be being done to disable that vote fraud apparatus.
For those who don't believe that fraud was a deciding factor in critical elections, there is enough evidence that it was occurring, nonwithstanding the outcome, and I have to ask just how much dog crap is acceptable in your soup? Because every fraudulent vote counted is a pinch of dog crap in the electoral soup. Enough pinches and you forget the original flavor was chicken noodle.
Back to TRUMP. What needs be done is accent the positives, accent restoration of American Greatness, especially after the disaster in DC right now, and push to clean house with lots of shiny new faces in administrative positions, not a fringe element clown show and corruption.
Going after DeSantis reeks of someone who needlessly alienates potential allies when he should be working to set up something that can counter the GOPe machine and the Democrats, too.

Here's a link to the NYT article. Can't see a thing in there that suggests he ever behaved inappropriately with students, though there does seem to be some resentment from leftist students that he was conservative.
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/05/us/desantis-high-school-teacher-georgia.html
Worth noting that the NYT dropped this "bombshell" article on the Friday before the election, and then DeSantis earned the largest margin of victory ever by a Florida gubernatorial candidate.
If the NYT could have written a more damaging article, it would have.

On the bright side, my guess is that he'll alienate fewer potential allies moving forward...if only because he doesn't have that many left anymore.

He's young, well-read, mentally and verbally disciplined, has developed a capable, loyal staff, has shown the ability to build political alliances, doesn't commit unforced errors, and is wicked smart.
Everything Trump is not.
And I agree he's a much more consistent conservative than is Trump.

I can't wait for the articles in the National Enquirer and reported on unchallenged on Fox News that DeSantis' father was in the plot to kill Kennedy.

Well DeSantis is of Italian heritage so the mob/mafia tie to the assassination should be right in line with Trumps M.O.

In my own defense @txradioguy ---- Many of the questions are either an absurd non-sequitur to change a point or subject I've introduced to the discussion or an effort to goad me into a deeper conflict. I shy away --- actually run from --- those whenever possible.
I try to treat each question seriously, and as most know, I am not shy about answering ---- when appropriate and serves a serious purpose. But, my red lines are in the previous paragraph.
One last thought about this:. It really is both disrespectful and unkind to gossip about a fellow Briefer. If you could resist this urge and convince your compatriots to do the same, I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

I didn't do that @DB
I hope you're not confusing asking a question about a political philosophy with personally denigrating a fellow member. :crossed:

This coming from the queen of non-sequiturs. (See Paul Ryan photos above).
Of course the "questions" posed to you are not non-sequiturs, but are instead direct inquiries to the statement you posted - inquiries which you continue to ignore. Here is a quick review:
Do you know the whole story here?
Where is the evidence that he was their teacher at the time this picture was taken, and that they were drinking alcohol?
You claim facts not in evidence. That's the start of the problem.
It should be clear that the inquiries posted to you are directly connected to the claim you made. So in addressing your claim, what evidence do you have that the women in the photo were students, that DeSantis was their teacher, that the women were underage, or that any of them besides the one were drinking?
-
It is also disrespectful to make ethical charges against people without any evidence other than it gores your opponent.
I didn't do that @DB
This is your post, no?
Just to be clear @massadvj ---. a high school teacher drinking with his (or her) underage high school students is now okay?
-
I try to treat each question seriously, and as most know, I am not shy about answering ---- when appropriate and serves a serious purpose.
No, you only answer questions if they serve the narrative you are advocating. If the answer would expose holes in your narrative, you don't answer them.
The question you asked about whether "a high school teacher drinking with his students is now okay" actually is the exact type of question you claim you refuse to answer.
-

She and all the other AT's can't hide the ulterior motive that everything said, done and managed is done in a manner to help Trump so that it makes him look good, and anyone...... I mean anyone opposing anything he says or does, look bad. No matter how sane or conservative.
That train narrative left the station in '16, and has chugged along non-stop since.
I'll vote for the man in '24, if he is the nominee, but I sure hope we find an alternative.

I don't think he can win in 2024, but if something bizarre happened and he somehow did win, I think the GOP would get absolutely crushed in 26 and 28.
So if he's the nominee...I'm just going to vote down ticket and leave President blank. Voting for him twice is my limit.

I see this thread is truly off the rails, and Members are attacking Members for their voting preferences.
I admit, I've probably allowed this to continue for FAR too long, so I'm locking it now.
Hopefully future threads will be more fact oriented. This started as speculation about a picture of DeSantis which was a never-verified rumor.
