And to think FL Came a butt crack and a crack pipe close to having him as our Gov.

Former Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum and his close associate Sharon Lettman-Hicks could face a jury in April on federal public corruption charges.

U.S. District Judge Allen Winsor set an April 17 trial date at the U.S. Courthouse in Tallahassee for the duo, who were arrested in June. The trial could last as long as two weeks.

The charges against Gillum and Lettman-Hicks arose from the same undercover FBI investigation that began in 2015 and led to bribery convictions for former Mayor and City Commissioner Scott Maddox, his aide Paige Carter-Smith and businessman John “J.T.” Burnette.

Gillum’s attorney David Markus and Lettman-Hicks’ attorney Robert Morris, said they needed time to sift through the thousands of documents and FBI recordings provided as evidence.

“There’s a lot of it,” Markus told Winsor during the telephonic hearing Thursday, noting that his own trial load makes getting these cases before a jury this year tough. “We received a box of CDs, recordings, transcripts and documents. I’m not even going to be able to really turn to this case until 2023."
