The majority of people have heard of the term leukemia, but evidence suggests many people are not aware that leukaemia is a cancer of the blood. ‘Leuk’ means white and ‘emia’ refers to a condition of the blood. Hence, the term leukemia specifically refers to cancers of the white blood cells.
