Quote
President Donald Trump on Friday demanded that the Federal Reserve slash interest rates or else he will cut off trade with countries with which the U.S. maintains trade deficits.

Trump issued the sweeping ultimatum in a Truth Social post reacting to a much-stronger-than-expected monthly jobs report by urging the central bank and its chairman, Kevin Warsh, to “get smart” and cut rates.

Trump's full post:

Quote
Great jobs number just announced, breaking all estimates (except mine!) by double and triple - And you haven’t seen anything yet! EMPLOYERS ADDED 162,000 JOB IN AUGUST. Lower the interest rates because the U.S.A. is a much stronger credit than it was just a short time ago! A STRONG COUNTRY MEANS A LOWER INTEREST RATE - IT’S A BETTER CREDIT…Very simple! We should have the LOWEST RATE of any country in the World, like “the old days.” Without the United States agreeing to allow them their big surpluses, and we could stop that immediately, they would no longer be considered financially ELITE! LOWER THE RATE OR I’LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT, which the U.S. Supreme Court, in its ridiculous and very costly Tariff decision, strongly acknowledged “the President” has an absolute right to do. IT’S BETTER THAN TARIFFS! The Fed Board, with its great new leader, must get smart - BE PATRIOTS for a change. High interest rates put the U.S.A. at a very unfair disadvantage, and I won’t allow that to happen! President DONALD J. TRUMP

The Wharton School of Business gave him an M.B.A.

He understands busines ... he just doesn't care about such academic stuff.

Trump lives and breathes by financial leverage - aka, somebody else's money that is borrowed.  If you default on the debt, you declare bankruptcy.  It's the lender(s) who are not made whole that suffer, not himself.  Bankruptcy = "get out of consequences free" card.

He knows lower rates means more money can be borrowed ... which ironically contributes to monetary inflation.

The markets want higher natural rates, but the Treasury keeps manipulating the US Treasury Bond Market.

The Fed is not Trump's biggest monetary enemy - it's the Government deficits and the A.I. infrastructure buildout's appetite to borrow capital.

The 30-Year Treasury is the only fiscal conservative left in DC.

Get ready for some unTruth Social Trump-er-trantrums.

He doesn’t understand economics.

Trump 1 economy was a boom for all our people, blacks most of all.. seems Trump found the magic wand that obama lacked. Trump 2 .. economy is booming. over 160,000 jobs.. non-farm,non- government last month when those who .. I guess you think understand economics, projected less than 60,000 jobs.

If that is your idea of not understanding economics..... may Trump remain forever ignorant.. give me more, THAT is what I voted for.

So we stop trading with 95 countries unless the Fed ruins the currency.  This had better be the last boomer president.  I mean he says a lot of stupid things, but lately the senility is off the scale.

Do year realize that that includes folks who were born as late as 1964 (Some still 61 years old)

Hopefully this is not what your meant.

No more boomers.  They had their shot, and they gave us Clinton, George W, Obama, and Trump.  I don’t know if it was the acid, the booze, smokes or lead poisoning, but enough is enough.

I agree 100%... he was stopped somehow from enacting his true agenda... i think it was Pence. Trump II is a different story. I actually blame the filibuster more than anything. A lot of the economy is from folks not being sure if a liberal undoes all Trump's politicies. And the Iran war... yeah i get the nobleness of the cause but it's the wrong war for now and it's hurting oil markets.

Folks elected him because they thought he'd undo Biden... that goal has still not been completely fulfilled. There have been some wins of course.

Reagan's first 2 years in office were worse. I'm hoping that's the way it is with trump.

The Fed should reduce their rates to zero and then immediately close the spigot.  If the Federal Government needs to borrow money, then they should get it from the same source we do - money that already exists.

We are closer than you think. The Iran war is not a noble cause so much, but rather a needed one. Just like with Venezuela. Iran has been at war with us for 47 years. They foment the islamic terrorism of the 12th Imam... an apocalyptic/nihilistic  islamic  end of the world scenario... MAD only works as a deterrent to sane people. 12th Imam adherents  are not sane people.

Trump has acted and will leave us a far safer world. Will it cost the midterms, maybe.. they usaully go the other way anyway's. Maybge not this year.

Even so, Trump is a real Leader.... doing what he sees as best for our future, Even if we lose short term. I have a whole lot of respect for that.... so many of our elected presidents.. obama, clinton, bush..both of 'Em.. and bdden... spit

As you note, the Senate is the problem.. not Trump. Undo bidden, Trump has done very well there too, without the Senate/Thune POS. We are no longer being invaded by millions of illegals a day.

The economy is good. Would like lower gas prices.. but it is a small price to pay for ending the 12th Imam muhamadean death cult.

Well.. that is a take any-ways. Reagan was elected by Boomers......  ****slapping. As for the greatest generation.. way way overrated.. they gave us fdr and socialism/Marxism.... not so great in my opinion.

Trump is far better than any of them.. and that includes Reagan....the very first vote this Boomer cast.

Not what I remember. The far left/media hated him as much as did the GOPE.. with their RDS.  Reagan had a softer touch, no doubt. Trump is  far more effective in securing our future against illegals.. which Regan let in.. and our enemies.. foreign,  and domestic.

I do not give a damn about likable.. Trump is very likable, except to our enemies.. both foreign,  and domestic... GOPE/TDS/Leftist.. yeah.. they hate him.

Newt Gingrich was far more instrumental in saving this country than Reagan. 40 plus years of democraps holding the House.. Newt broke that.

When Reagan left office, federal spending was at 33% of GDP.  Today, that number has risen to 38%, roughly a 15% increase.

Keep in mind that the highest percentage that government will ever bring in through taxation around 19%.

In other words, for us to survive as a nation, federal spending needs to be cut in half.  Today.

They should rescind it.  He plainly did not learn the material.  (Even before the economic imbecility of his policies in office, he managed to lose money running a casino.)
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

Broadly, they've separated the 1958 and younger group into the Joneses now. Not necessarily a full generation but the pure boomers has been made a smaller cohort.

So it would have been better to wait until Iran had a working nuclear bomb which we would know because they used it?

Israel has been keeping them at bay for years, they will be the first to suffer if Iran does get it.

Or you know, Iran's neighbors. Why does the US have to play policeman all the time? I'm tired of it... i had thought trump was too from the GOP debates in 2015 if you'll remember.

Because no one else will. Hundreds of years of world history prove that. Most of the world's population can't be trusted to be honest and fair even to its own people. Increasingly, the USA is falling into that as well.

However, there are other methods than ICBMs to get a nuke to NYC. That aside, they just approved the funds to make ICBMs. If they do not have funds now, they will, at some point, later.

1.) Trade deficits are not the Fed's problem to solve - that belongs to Congress.
2.) If Trump wants naturally lower rates, the Government should spend less.
3.) Causing supply chain disruptions will cause prices to increase further, forcing the Fed to raise rates to induce demand destruction to fight inflation.

"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it’s entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." - Alan Simpson, Frontline Video Interview

You need better writing skills, if you did not mean supporting Israel's destruction. Try harder.

Right... why wouldn't they be hitting us with conventionals by now? Israel is there to soak up Iran's hatred basically, and respond in kind. In that, I fully support them.

Your 'them' is ambiguous; you need to specify which 'them' you mean - 'them' could be either Israel or Iran, but since Iran is the last name mentioned, your 'them' reflects back to Iran, not Israel.

Better English:
Israel is there to soak up Iran's hatred, and respond in kind. In that, I fully support Israel.

I think the AI buildout will fizzle under the weight of this country's NIMBY-ism.  The safest bet is to re-purpose bitcoin miners into AI compute centers.  The bitcoin mining facilities are already built out and attached to the existing power grid.

I basically agree with everything you said.

Maybe AI DC's in space might be able to fill in the gaps? but that's a lot of radio bandwidth too... not sure how that works.

He never answered you or me.

Throwing shit at the wall to see if it sticks is all he's got.
