I will admit that I hardly ever watch the news on television, especially not for the weather. It’s just so much easier to pick up my phone and check Google or The Weather Channel. I just want to know how warm it’s going to be or how likely it is to rain. These days, I can find that out in about 10 seconds and go about my day.

So here you have it, if you cut the budget you hate fishemen and farmers.

It's a bunch of pages griping about how terrible budget cuts are while we spend too much on military to protect the country.  I'd have been better off not finding the link, TBH.

Funny how the National Weather service did just fine with thermometers, barometers, hygrometers, anemometers, rain gauges, and wind vanes before any of the fancy computer modeling came along in the 1990s.  Heck, once upon a time, the Cubans actually had the best weather service in the world, and were experts at predicting hurricanes with the simple tools they had, backed by common weather sense.

Commercial fishermen do not rely on TV weather since the 1990s - in Alaska they relied in Peggy the radio weather gal.

I remember this story from last year.

To which I reply, there are plenty of aspiring meteorologists looking for their foot in the door who will gladly take his job. As a younger man, I would've been one of them.
