House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., rejected support for Medicare for All and the Democratic Socialists of America's (DSA) agenda Sunday, saying Democrats should prioritize affordability as they seek to recapture the House in November following a wave of progressive primary victories.

"Meet the Press," host Kristen Welker asked Jeffries directly whether he personally supported Medicare for All.

"No, i — as you indicated, I haven’t cosponsored the Medicare for All legislation that has been introduced over the last several years," Jeffries said. "I do think we need to figure out how to fix our broken health care system and then build something better once we repair the damage that has been done."

Jeffries also said that as the Democratic leader in the House, it was not legislation he supported, while also reiterating that he wanted to find a path to fix the health care system and "make health care affordable for every single American."

The cost alone would make it highly unlikely that Medicare for All would ever pass. I don’t think Bernie Sanders has ever had the CBO score his idea.

But I sense that what they REALLY MEAN is "MediCAID" for all.

With Medicare, the enrollee still has to pay some expenses -- which can amount to a good total for the year.

Medicaid, however, covers nearly ALL costs.
Well, most of them. It doesn't cover some dental procedures, to my understanding.

And yet, that's exactly what the Democrat base has been pressing for for a decade now, if not longer. The crisis in health care is one of the pressing issues of our time and yet the people in power seem to be either willing to do nothing or make the crisis worse.

The Republican approach has basically been to ignore it.

The Democratic approach has been to pay lip service to it and propose another half-hearted government program or mandate.

Meanwhile, the guy who flat-out murdered a health insurance CEO is pleading guilty this week and being lauded as a folk hero. People are fed up. Health care in this country has been corrupted beyond repair and will likely need to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch.

The problem with that is that Medicaid is usually pawned off to existing insurers. Which basically makes the existing crony system even worse with companies getting rich off the government.

Medicare recipients have been paying for the program through deductions from their payroll checks and upon retirement also pay a monthly premium which is taken out of their SS checks.

Keep in mind, that once you turn 65, the gov't forces you to go onto Medicare regardless if you have private insurance or not.  That I could never understand -- so in essence we pay for Medicare AND our personal insurance, though our personal  insurance now only pays out what Medicare doesn't cover.  Premiums aren't cheap, that's for darn  sure.

Medicaid is a safety net for low income or no income recipients or for those who would  incur a cost greater than the assets that they have.

Would this grand scheme cover all 350 some million of us? Or just a few? Would illegal immigrants also be covered?


Can you imagine the rationing  of healthcare  services you would have to have in order to even remotely afford this?

Someone mentioned that it’s probably really Medicaid for all. That’s exactly it.
