Bravo

You've managed to say so much without saying much of anything :thud:

The fact is is the same people cheering Trump over this war and it's conduct would be raking Harris over the coals for it....and they would be justified in doing such

Uh, no.

That seems to be the case with more than one here

They use TDS in the same way the left uses "racist"

And like the racist charge, TDS elicits

There is no 60 day deadline. Both Slick Willie and obama went years in their wars. No President has been bound by it, no President has respected it... no President has ever been subject to it.

The Constitutionality of the War Powers act itself is very suspect and never adjudicated in any court, much less SCOTUS.

Seems there is a mix of "....mix of naivete and laziness... even ignorance. But not on President Trumps part , as to how long he can defend America under .. both the Constitution,  and the War Powers Act.
I think of it in ball terms.

Some here get mad at the player who attempts the final shot of the game, only to miss.
They do not get mad at other players who choose not to take that shot, as they are afraid they might miss. Or even players on their team who score points for the other team instead of their own team.

BTW, did Congress ever approve going to war with Korea 75 years ago that remains ongoing?

They also knew midterm elections were only months away ... and if they lose those, it's 24-7 impeachments for the rest of Trump's term

Pres. Trump has already signalled there will be no "boots on the ground" ... that means, if the US wants to get Iran's enriched uranium - one of the original stated goals - the US is dependent on Iran handing it over willingly in some kind of deal

But what happens if Iran refuses to make that deal? The US is left with making threats ... and that's where we are now

Time for some pie.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Better to let Iran deploy a nuke?  Is that your position?

THAT.. is the most un-serious comment in this thread.  What do you want ..nuke Iran off the map? Send in 5 million ground troops?

Because that is the next step.

Trump has neutralized Iran. We can keep the blockade in effect forever.. call it a training exercise.. won't even cost much more than normal yearly expenditures.

In two years(or less) the Strait of Hormuz becomes irrelevant for Mid-East oil. Hell, western oil.. America , the Americas.. Venezuela anyone.. another Trump triumph.  Becomes all the more important.. even now. Including the tar sands of Canada.. course Trump may have to invade and remove the Marxist/Fascist/left there too.

Un-serious...  Iran reduced to a pimple... Moolahs/Leadership/Military/Nuke effort decimated...   .. that is "Un-Serious" .. yeah right....Meh.

All that for a buck a gallon for a few months/maybe a year..... what a great President.

There is something seriously wrong with you.  Show me where the Joos hurt you on the Trump Hate doll you beat off to.

There’s something “wrong with” the Fox News boomers.  Mainly their cartoonish bigotry against 1.8 billion people.  This war is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen a politician get suckered into.  Nobody except Fox News boomers (like Trump) believed the Iranians were about to nuke the United States.  Nobody except Fox News boomers thought the Iranians were going to overthrow their government if only we murdered their ayatollah.

Now these same people with their pensions and their 401s are telling everyone else to pay for their crazy idea.  Mark Levin wants us to pretend like it’s World War II.  The next couple of elections are going to be a total s-show with radicals taking over the democrat party and independents moving away from the GOP in record numbers.

And it probably isn’t going to  matter what Republican runs in 2028. The Democrats will tie that person to the Trump administration. Trump had the advantage of being the challenger to an unpopular administration in 2024.

Now he is the unpopular administration and  “commies and Muslims” isn’t the key  to saving  him or the Republican Party

I suppose you can hope  the Democrats overreach and Republicans can reclaim Congress in  the 2030 midterms. But a democrat Congress and a democrat president can pass a lot of legislation that’ll be hard to overturn before that happens. Obamacare  as an example.

Iran is playing the US perfectly!

I think “unserious manner” is a difficult judgment to make from the outside.

If Iran was, and remains, a serious nuclear threat, what would have to happen for this conflict to qualify as “serious” in your estimation? More bombs? More troops? A ground invasion? Greater destruction? A faster result?

The United States and Israel have been conducting military operations against Iran since February 28. We are now roughly five and a half months into the conflict. There have been extensive strikes against Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure, the loss of senior Iranian leadership, continuing Iranian retaliation, and enormous disruption across the region.

That doesn’t mean the war has been successful or that every decision should escape criticism. But “unserious” implies some identifiable alternative standard.

And what about the people actually living under the bombing? Do they regard nearly six months of airstrikes as an unserious undertaking? Curiously, that perspective seems to receive considerably less attention than the strategic analysis.

Most of us know only what governments, militaries, intelligence agencies and journalists make publicly available. We don’t know the classified intelligence, operational constraints, rejected targets or commanders’ actual objectives.

So by all means ask whether the war is working. Ask whether it was necessary. Ask whether the strategy was wise.

But declaring that it has been conducted in an “unserious manner” sounds considerably more certain than the public evidence allows.

That starts to look less like analysis and more like Monday-morning quarterbacking.

Some perspective.

The national average is about $4.10 a gallon today, versus $3.15 a year ago, so yes, gas is substantially higher. The Iran war and the resulting disruption around the Strait of Hormuz are a major reason.

But the “gas apocalypse” narrative being driven by the TDS media and sycophants needs some perspective. Biden’s record was $5.01 a gallon in June 2022. Even then, EIA noted that this was the highest inflation-adjusted price since 2012.

So yes, $4.10 hurts, and a wartime supply shock is serious. But pretending Americans have never seen gas prices this high, or that today’s price is historically unprecedented, is simply false.

The numbers are bad enough. There is no need to manufacture an apocalypse.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat from Connecticut, sent a letter to Pentagon and Navy officials on Wednesday seeking information about quality-of-life problems, morale and safety aboard the carrier.

The only utter nonsense is yours and Blumenthal's. There is no crises aboard the Lincoln. That is a far left/and never Trumper false narrative. Ships rotate after long deployments, you do a disservice to those men aboard the Lincoln. Your TDS is duly noted.

On TOS, a guy who served aboard US Carriers would beg to differ. During long deployments, carrier equipment begins to degrade and break down, boilers stop working in the mess halls - meaning less food can be served. AC units go out and the radars overheat and have to be shutdown. ETC. Moral plummets.

Worse, these very long deployments mean a very long time in shipyard as broken and worn out equipment has to be replaced so holes have to be cut in the ship - through pipes and bulkheads, prolonging repair completion for more years.

So yes, despite the propaganda, crises are a real possibility.

From TOS, a carrier guy says:

Quote
Here is the Basic cycle both follow beside the Nukes year refuel at the twenty five year mark. Carrier comes out of the yards after a 1 year long overhaul where holes are cut everywhere. Such things as replacing electrical switchboards, adding or replace chill water plants takes place then At least six months of it is in drydock so valves etc can be repaired/replaced as well.

Ship comes out and goes through about 6 to 8 month training, flight operations, readiness evaluations, and then may deploy for 6 weeks to RIO or the VI's. Upon return in about a month it will deploy for 6 months to the IO/MED SEA area and return to home port upon being relieved.

At that point the ship has a three month shipyard maintenance period, cycle is repeated for 5 years and at the end of the 3rd deployment goes again into the 1 year drydock. If these are skipped or delay too long things break down including galley equipment.

Each yard period we had to have all ice makers replaces on the mess decks and usually a steam kettle or two and many other things. That is why I say it's not gonna happen because we do not have enough carriers now to do proper rotations.

My carrier was ran so ragged a boiler blew up at the Base pierside. They towed it to Portsmouth and did a bandaid repair and send her on her final 6 month deployment. I saw an article BY US News and World Report telling of conditions and this was back in the early to mid 90's Was it BS? No I really don't think it was.

The article said unable to pump fuel that job is done by Test Lab and you pump from different tanks to keep the ships ballast true. It sounds like warn out valves. No Radar and only 2 of 6 generators working. So why no radar? I can explain it and I do know what I am saying. I worked in the late 70's in what was called the AC&R Shop meaning Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Shop. Well stone cold fact says that with only two generator operational 1 maybe 2 of her 10 chillers could be ran. The electronics do not like it when their A/C is taken away. They don't work.

I think it safe to say the Lincoln crew is worn out and for their own safety and the mechanical good of the ships its way past time to bring ABE home. The USN is flirting with disaster. When Spook Daddy [ Bush 1 ] and Clinton did it we had a third more carriers than today.

Hear! Hear!

The Hanoi Janes are strong in here.

Yep, there are those here who would cheer if Iran  had sunk one of our Carriers, I think... just as long as they got to pillory Trump for it. TDS/never Trumper is a real mental illness.

I would not call them strong, but yes, there is a nest of Never-Trump snakes here. Worse than democraps in my opinion. They make Hanoi Jane blush with their TDS propaganda.

Blaming the MSM for the failures that are clearly in front of our noses, gets really old.

So you can go f**k yourself.

The only thing before our noses is you are a foul mouthed never Trumper with stage 7 TDS.

Have a good day and please, seek help..... :getwell:

Gas prices around here have actually gone down a bit - around $3.78/gal.  Grocery prices are primarily steady, though if you think back, over the years, have you ever known grocery prices to significantly go down?

I also don't expect to see pre-pandemic prices. I certainly would welcome lower prices, as most would, but I am being realistic.

Let's see, June 2022.  Let's look at what happened.   Biden emptied the SPR to try to lower prices, rather than to keep the reserve for actual emergencies (e.g - a blockade of 1/4 of the world's production).

Biden wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.  I believe a lot of what he and his 'handlers' did was to begin the erosion of our economy.

You mean like eggs?

Here's a compilation over the past few decades.  Note the price changes over the past year. https://basketreport.com/prices/eggs/history/

Going back even more decades, even the Carter years were declining, adjusted for inflation.

Crude Prices? How about adjusted for inflation?

And Biden's handlers set up a lot of TDS types to complain about our current oil situation.

Trump is ok with it as he knows it is a bump on the road.
He foresaw this.  Why else did he wait on engaging Iran until Venezuela was taken care of?

Thanks Weird Tolkienish Figure.  Thanks for being civil. That is what adults do.  tipping hat!!

I thought maybe that is what it was. I first came here in "The Purge" from TOS of all Ted Cruz supporters. LOL. Just wanted it confirmed.

Having said that, plenty of dipshits at TOS as well. Anyone can register and post, does not make what they claim to be true, or their info accurate. I still have the freeper board bookmarked,  read it several times a day.

Here, Townhall, TOS, Realclear Politics are the sites I typically read. Only post here and at Townhall.

Sh#t moves way too fast in this forum for me.

Last week, I swear this place was crawling with financial experts. I take one little break and come back to find we’ve been overrun by Rear Admirals.

WTF happened? Did I miss a memo, or did Wall Street suddenly get a Navy?

War always demands sacrifice, whether in dollars or lives.

Spending a few bucks now saves many lives in the future.

And stopping evil has no price tag.
Has it, though? We haven't achieved lasting peace through a war since 1945. We're dealing with barbarians, truly evil people here, who cannot be trusted to run their own affairs. Look at Afghanistan. 20 years in that dump, and they turn it right back over to the Taliban the moment we turn our backs.

Exactly! Why does the US have to be the world policeman for this garbage? Every time! Trump actually campaigned on this issue. People are sick of it.
