The bottom line here is that if we can expect higher oil prices if our intent is to keep both Russian and Iranian oil off the world market.  But if we are to do that, then we need to ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and safe, and encourage other oil producers like Iraq and Saudi Arabia to increase exports.  Trump has fallen short on that last part, which is what has generated some of the criticism.

As for your point. The Straight of Hormuz is a war zone. Properly so taking down Iran after 47 years of war.  Iraq and Saudis cannot  move more oil while that is in action. I think you are the one who forgot it.  Russia helped start WWII.  They invaded six countries before the US even entered the War.  And by the end of the war, they had taken control of Eastern Europe and launched the Cold War.  Ally?  Yeah, right.
