Fox’s Doocy: House GOP in ‘disarray,’ Johnson ‘hanging’ by a thread
by Dominick Mastrangelo - 01/11/24 1:27 PM ET

Steve Doocy, a co-host of “Fox and Friends,” blasted the House GOP and its leadership on Thursday as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) faces strong conservative backlash over a recently agreed-to spending deal.

“The Republicans in the House are in such disarray, the Speaker of the House is hanging on to his job by a thread,” Doocy said on Fox’s flagship morning talk show.

“Please say they’re not going to go down that route again,” co-host Ainsley Earhardt exclaimed.

“They might,” Brian Kilmeade, another co-host chimed in.

“It could happen before February 1,” Doocy continued. “So the Republicans may not have the vote, even though they had the big chaotic circus yesterday.”

Thursday morning’s exchange was first highlighted by Mediate.

Questions have been circulating about Johnson’s fate on Capitol Hill this week after Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) indicated he would support a “motion to vacate,” over a recent spending deal.

Changing Speakers in the hopes that it will make the House more conservative is like painting your car and expecting it to go faster.  If you want more conservative legislation, you're going to have to elect more conservatives.  There is no shortcut, and that includes those conservatives that are in Congress refusing to agree to anything that isn't conservative.  They'll just get bypassed every single time.

If it's any consolation, the same thing applies when Democrats control the House or Senate.  It is the least progressive members of their caucus that actually determine what legislation they can pass.

The GOP can take heart in the fact that after the 2024 elections they’ll no longer be saddled with the annoying burdens of leadership, as an increasingly hostile electorate will put the dems back in charge in the House.  The Republicans have shown absolutely no evidence of an ability to govern and will be returned to their cozy, comfortable, familiar place back in the minority wilderness.
