Sounds like Andy Biggs got it right. He usually does.

Horseshit. Back in the first week of December last year Johnson said the border was "the hill to die on". He flat out lied and HE is the one that betrayed this country.

Okay, so let's talk about what Johnson did on the border.

Johnson clearly was engaged in hard bargaining/brinksmanship with Senate Democrats, trying to get them to act on the border legislation, HB 2, that the House had passed last July.   The leverage Johnson was trying to use was refusing to pass any other aid unless Senate Democrats also agreed to that border security bill.

The problem turned out to be that the Democrats were willing to what aid to both Ukraine and Israel die rather than past that border bill.   And that shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody, because the vast majority of the Democratic party would go apeshit if the Senate passed that border bill, and Biden signed it.

In other words, the border bill was not going to pass no matter what Republicans did, and there was nothing Republicans could do to change that.  It's unfortunately what happens when you have such a small majority in the House, and the other party controls both the Senate and the Presidency. You simply can't push through major controversial legislation against a hostile Senate and President.  That has never happened.

So that was the reality with which Johnson was faced this spring - that the Republican priority of a border bill was not going to happen.  That became even more certain when President Trump himself came out and said that the Republicans should not agree to any border bill unless it provided 100% security. Obviously, Trump said that because he didn't want to lose the issue for the November election. In any case, Trump's own statement killed whatever chance there was for even a compromise border bill.

So at that point, Johnson's threat not to pass any other aid without a border bill had failed. If you want to call that some unbreakable "promise", fine, but I think it was pretty clearly a negotiating tactic by Johnson.  He tried a poker bluff, it failed, and the Democrats simply had the much better hand. It happens.

So once Johnson accepted the reality that the border bill was not going to pass, the merits of the other legislation had to be considered on their own. And that's exactly what he did.

Trump’s VP Pick Should Be Someone Who Has Never Admitted to Shooting a Puppy
Kurt Schlichter

The speculation over Donald Trump’s veep pick is heating up, and his potential choices’ respective pole positions have changed a lot since the last time I wrote about this. Now, I’ve been pretty clear that there were three main criteria for picking a running mate. One, the appointment cannot hurt the GOP, like by putting a seat at risk. Two, the nominee must be competent to be president. Three, the pick must bring something to the table as far as winning the election. And I guess I now have to add a fourth qualification. The nominee can’t have shot any puppies.

Now, I wouldn’t think that I would have to tell anybody that shooting puppies is a bad idea if you want to be elected by the American people. Americans like puppies. They don’t like people who shoot puppies. So, the thought process of anybody who wants to be liked by the American people admitting to shooting puppies escapes me.

Yet, Kristi Noem capped Cricket the dog and then wrote about it in her book. Besides being bizarre and cruel, this was politically insane. It’s totally disqualifying, and apparently Donald Trump agrees because rumor has it that she’s off his shortlist. Somewhere across the rainbow bridge, Cricket is wagging her tail as she watches Noem’s political future dragged to the gravel pit and given the Joe Pesci in “Goodfellas” treatment.

there is no way that bumbling fool Biden got that many votes. They cheated and then tried to stop you from pointing out that they cheated. But they cheated.

And it'll be a lot more difficult for them to cheat this time but they'll try. That and bitching on end is what the left excels in.

On Friday, a Nashville man who had been charged with 105 offenses since 2007 was arrested yet again, this time in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a female Amazon delivery driver.

The suspect, 34-year-old Carl Jerome Hamilton, was subsequently hit with charges of aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, and robbery.

According to WKRN, the incident took place around 4 am on the 700 block of President Ronald Reagan Way. The 25-year-old victim, whose identity has not been made public, was delivering packages in the mail room of an apartment building when Hamilton allegedly entered and shut the door behind him. He then allegedly forced her to take off her clothes and sexually assaulted her.

After that, Hamilton demanded the victim get in her delivery van and drive him to a nearby ATM on Murfreesboro Pike. Once there, she withdrew $100 via her debit card. He then drove her around for another hour or so before leaving her and her vehicle and fleeing.

Biden's public calendar for the last three years has been scrubbed.  The White House no longer publishes a calendar for him.  So now his empty schedule and weekly beach vacations will be hidden from the taxpayers.

Former President Donald Trump is set to address the Libertarian National Party at their convention on May 25th. The Libertarian Party, which has often struggled to bring its candidates onto the main stage with major party candidates, views Trump’s upcoming appearance as a major victory.

In preparation for his speech, the Libertarian Party will present Trump with a list of their top ten issues, aiming to influence his policy positions. The interaction is seen as a chance to bridge ideological gaps and foster a dialogue that could shape the political landscape.

Libertarians are some of the most independent and thoughtful thinkers in our Country, and I am honored to join them in Washington, DC, later this month,” Trump said. “We must all work together to help advance freedom and liberty for every American, and a second Trump Administration will achieve that goal. I look forward to speaking at the Libertarian Event, which will be attended by many of my great friends.”
