Former Trump official announces major 'Deport Them All' border initiative amid bid to flip crucial Senate seat

LAS VEGAS — EXCLUSIVE: A former Trump official running in one of this year's crucial battleground Senate races is launching a major initiative to help end the crisis at the southern border amid his effort to oust an incumbent Democrat.

Republican Nevada Senate candidate Jeff Gunter, the former U.S. ambassador to Iceland, announced Saturday his "Build the Wall, Deport Them All" initiative, which, although in its preliminary stage, will ultimately target illegal immigrants he says are causing a grave economic impact on small businesses across the country.

Gunter says he will invest $1 million of his own money in the initiative, including developing a website and reporting mechanism for everyday citizens to report suspicious activity. The money will also go towards an ad campaign to inform people across the silver state about the initiative, which is expected to have more backers in the near future.................

There's a very small, very liberal college a few miles from us. If any of its students sobered up for more than a few minutes, they'd probably be out protesting, too.

So why care who he chooses for a running mate @libertybele ?

It seems Ron's boarding the Trump Train.  happy77

Yes agreed DeSantis is a wonderful competent governor, with integrity and morality.  Trump smeared him before he even announced his campaign @Right_in_Virginia  He was a threat to Trump and Trump lashed out like an ugly deranged school yard bully.  Quit making excuses for his behavior.

I care who Trump picks because of his age. Should Trump miraculously be seated and later has to step down for whatever reason, I would hope that he would pick a VP who would make a really good president.  Those left on his list don't really fit that criteria.

Trump needs DeSantis' help now.

With what level of POTUS electoral success looming?  Cruz was also almost bounced in '18 by revengeful tumps.

"Almost".  Cruz is not "ruined"; he is still serving in the US Senate.  Move on.

This is Jared Bernstein, the man who sets economic policy for the Biden administration. Asked why the US government borrows money if it can print its own money:  "I can't really... I don't get it. I don't know what they're talking about."

Computers / Re: Windows 11 S**ks

Yeah. Really not that awful under the hood. Pretty much the same operationally as win10. They mainly changed the grill - Crappy win10 graphics made even worse... and of course, destroying the hated start bar that they have been trying to get rid of since XP.

I am a start freak. In my personal boxen, everything I need is there in the panels. I seldom go digging through the menu. Everything else I do is CLI, so I still have a cmd box open all the time...

In win11 I only operate by CLI. You may as well not have the graphic interface.

And the other 5 star bitch is the security in BIOS. Several things you have to shut off for Linux to work, and turn back on for windows to work. I finally abandoned Win11 and went back to Win10 on dual-boot machines, and all of them are older boxes so that Win10 will run on em.

I currently have *NO* Win11 boxen in my herd.

I know that Secure Boot in UEFI can be problematic for Linux.  Are there new trix in UEFI for Win11 that need to be disabled?

NY vs. Trump: Bragg's own witness, Hope Hicks, implodes case against Trump
Fox News, May 4, 2024, Gregg Jarrett

In an epic miscalculation that backfired spectacularly, prosecutors in the Manhattan hush money trial of Donald Trump called Hope Hicks to the witness stand. The moment cross-examination began, their misbegotten case against the former president began to collapse.

Hicks, who served as press secretary during the 2016 presidential campaign, explained that Trump’s motive for suppressing salacious stories was to protect his wife, Melania.  "Absolutely…I don’t think he wanted anyone in his family to be hurt or embarrassed about anything on the campaign.  He wanted them to be proud of him."

The account by Hicks demolishes District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s primary claim against Trump that he paid porn star Stormy Daniels for her silence with the intent to benefit his campaign and, thereby, influence the election by "unlawful means."  To the contrary, it nicely corroborates the findings of a federal investigation that no crimes were committed, or campaign finance laws broken because there was another purpose for the non-disclosure agreement that Daniels signed.

Like the prosecution witnesses before her, Hicks disparaged Bragg’s planned star witness, Michael Cohen, Trump’s one-time personal lawyer.  "He used to like to call himself Mr. Fix-It, but it was only because he first broke it." Ouch!  But that denigrating remark is tame compared to the other derisive comments that have been leveled thus far at the insufferable Cohen.

[...]

Hicks confirmed that Trump was aware that Cohen paid off Daniels to end what can fairly be described as aggressive blackmail demands. When the election drew near, Daniels ratcheted up her greedy scheme to profit from Trump by threatening to go public about a supposed affair, which he denied.  Not incidentally, she renounced the purported tryst. Then, in a head-spinning maneuver, she recanted her repudiation.

[...]

The payments made were not illegal.  Non-disclosure contracts in exchange for silence are not unlawful. Killing negative stories violates no statutes.  More to the point, it is not a crime for Trump to know about a non-crime. That would be a senseless syllogism.

So, where exactly is the crime? To quote a memorable line from "Shakespeare In Love," "I don’t know…it’s a mystery!"
