LOL!!!  Nobody is "picking" on Ted Cruz.  He learned his lesson.  He has made no effort to shutdown the government over the budget.

Rookie mistakes are forgiveable.

Cruz made no mistakes to be forgiven. The GOPe has a lot of lessons to learn, but as long as they put themselves first, they won't learn a darn thing.

This poll is obviously invalid since Chris Matthews isn't on it. :silly:

My goodness, you'd think Boehner could scrape together more than a paltry 3% after that big victory lap he took last week.  At least he aced out Miley Cyrus. :silly:

Certainly he did.  Why didn't he try to shutdown the government again over the budget?

He never tried to shut down the government in the first place, though you blame him, instead of the real culprits.

Yep! Why does he continue to to attempt to perpetuate that myth?

Yes he did.  He knew what he was doing, and he knew what his actions would do.

You and others here are in denial about who was blamed for the shutdown by the voters.  Cruz and Lee are very very quiet right now.

They won't pull the shutdown strategy again.

Won't be a need for that again.   Obamacare is digging that hole just fine.....

You are the one in denial. You appear to approve the status quo instead of working to make things better. We are slipping fast, and I don't picture the GOP bringing us out of the mess we are in. They can't do it without conservatives, but they aren't doing a darn thing to help the situation, except insult them.

Uh, no. We are perfectly aware of who got blamed. We are also aware of who was really responsible: Obama & Reid; who created the myth as to who caused the shutdown: the Liberal MSM; and, who fell for the MSM's propaganda: you.

Not all conservatives are Tea Party conservatives.  Like Ronald Reagan, some conservatives are willing to get what we can when we can get it, then work to get more later.

Without the Senate and the presidency, the options are limited.

The point is: It does not matter.  In this instance (as in all things political), perception is reality.  The perception is Cruz, Lee and the Republicans shut down the government.

Truth does not matter? How interesting.

From a friend on FB:

OUR OPPONENT MAY LACK THE ELEGANT RUSSIAN POETIC PHRASING, BUT HE NAILS
 OUR MAN.

I have never read anything about Obama since he has been in the office
that says it better than this. This should be on bumper stickers and note pads.

Exactly what I was thinking while he was on National TV yesterday saying that "The Republicans had shut down the government."

Vladimir Putin said -- off the record:

"Negotiating with Obama is like playing chess with a pigeon….the pigeon knocks over all the pieces, shits on the board and then struts around like it won the game."

You can take comfort knowing the truth.  To the masses, the Republicans have been tarred with that brush.  Perception/Reality.

It doesn't help for Republicans to repeat something that is not true because the media has the perception out there of a falsehood, instead it behooves us all to tell the facts and when a site such as this is so easily searchable on google it falls to us posters to only post facts, not perceptions.

Rap, I understand.  But precious few are engaged like you and me.  In politics, perception is everything.  It is a parallel universe where the narrative is distorted and bent to fit the "reality" of the poorly informed and ignorant.

You are also right that sites like this help.  But how do you overcome the idiots like McCain who are wearing the right color jerseys but tackle their own teammates?  I am not waiving the surrender flag but damn...

Not to fit their reality. Create it.

Source amnesia is a wonderful tool for creating impressions. It's why headline, strapline and screen crawl writers are more highly paid than regular journalists.

Hmmmm.....didn't know that.  But it makes sense....if by 'journalists' you include news readers.  People with attractive packaging who can read.

Those aren't journalists. Think of the people you sometimes see behind them, the men and women researching and typing away on their computers. They write the stories, but the headline author is king. She (oddly, for a very male dominated profession, the headliners are usually women) has to pull you in to a news story in 10 words or less. How she phrases it will affect both if you read/listen to the story and how you read it.

Take the headline on this very thread. "most influential" was not put in quotes by accident. We call them scare quotes for a reason.

As an aside.....I laugh at people who go out and buy a 55 inch HDTV....and during the news...by the time they add the graphic, logo, time, etc., .and scrawling banner at the bottom.....you end up with a 21 inch viewing area.   LOL!

We fight it by correcting the record, one person at a time if necessary, we should never go along to get along when we can speak the truth about something, even if some who purport to be one on our side is spreading the falsehoods.
