There is a lifeguard shortage all over.

I wonder why teens aren't doing this for summer vacation - you can make really good money at it because demand is more than the supply at the moment.

He can be rehabilitated by sending him to NYC to be a lifeguard.  As an immigrant he is an excellent swimmer after all.

What kind of podcast are you interested in, @Gefn ?
Everyone is giving you political stuff... Is that what you're after?

Good gosh no. I like my podcasts to be about different things. Lately other than my French podcast I have been listening to one about movies and tv.... or of course animal stories. Or old radio shows like Dragnet, or Jean Shepard or Bob and Ray

I want to think of happy things when I  am walking or going to the gym. no current affairs.

Thank you @roamer_1

Blinken announces $2B arms deal for Ukraine
by Brad Dress - 05/15/24 8:46 AM ET

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday announced the U.S. was sending another $2 billion to Ukraine as Washington seeks to bolster Ukrainian troops on the frontline against a major Russian offensive in the northeastern Kharkiv region.

Blinken said at a press conference in Kyiv that the new package would include money through the foreign military financing program, which allows Ukraine to purchase weapons directly from the U.S. industry before delivery.

Those types of shipments can take longer to reach Ukraine than a presidential drawdown authority, which takes existing weapons from U.S. stocks. But the latest package comes off the heels of two separate tranches that used the drawdown authority, which were announced in previous weeks and are worth nearly $1.5 billion.

Blinken said weapons from those two packages have already arrived on the battlefield or are on the way, and the new foreign military financing assistance will help to boost Ukraine’s industrial defense base along with giving them more weapons.

“The newest support that I just announced, but particularly the $60 billion supplemental, we know is coming at a critical time,” he said, referencing the April national security bill that included $61 billion for Ukraine. “Ukraine is facing this renewed brutal Russian onslaught and we see, again, senseless strikes at civilians, residential buildings.”

The U.S. last month also announced a $6 billion package for Ukraine through the foreign military finance program.

NYC Mayor Says Migrants Can Help Lifeguard Shortage Because They’re ‘Excellent Swimmers’

JASON HOPKINS CONTRIBUTOR
May 14, 2024 4:35 PM ET

New York City Mayor Eric Adams appeared to suggest Tuesday that migrants could solve the city’s lifeguard shortage because they need work and are adept in the water.

“How do we have a large body of people that are in our city, our country, that are excellent swimmers and at the same time we need lifeguards — and the only obstacle is that we won’t give them the right to work to become a lifeguard,” Adams said during a City Hall briefing regarding lifeguard staffing at New York City’s pools and beaches. The comments were made as the city deals with both a lifeguard shortage and a substantial migrant crisis.

“That just doesn’t make sense,” the Democratic mayor continued.

For months, local reports have highlighted the lifeguard shortage plaguing New York City, forcing the government to ease up on qualifying metrics for applicants.

Adams went into further detail on his idea to fix the city’s staffing issue.

Biden proposes two debates with Trump in June and September
by Brett Samuels - 05/15/24 8:26 AM ET

President Biden’s campaign on Wednesday proposed two debates with former President Trump, bucking the Commission on Presidential Debates and potentially setting the stage for a face-off as soon as next month.

The Biden campaign called for the first debate to take place in late June, after Biden returns from the Group of Seven (G-7) Summit in Europe and after Trump’s hush money trial in New York will likely have concluded.

The campaign suggested a second debate in September ahead of the start of early voting in many states, as well as a vice presidential debate in late July after the Republican National Convention.

“As Donald Trump has said he will debate ‘anytime, anywhere,’ we hope both campaigns can quickly accept broadcast media debate invitations on the parameters above,” Biden campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in a letter to the commission on Wednesday. “Americans need a debate on the issues – not a tedious debate about debates.”

The Biden campaign said it would work directly with news organizations to set up the debates, spurring the Commission on Presidential Debates, which has facilitated the debates between presidential candidates since 1988. O’Malley Dillon in her letter suggested outlets that hosted GOP primary debates in 2016 and Democratic primary debates in 2020 to avoid any notion of bias.

Trump, who has repeatedly questioned Biden’s mental acuity and ability to do the job, said Wednesday he would accept the terms proposed by the Biden campaign.

“I am Ready and Willing to Debate Crooked Joe at the two proposed times in June and September,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “I would strongly recommend more than two debates and, for excitement purposes, a very large venue, although Biden is supposedly afraid of crowds – That’s only because he doesn’t get them. Just tell me when, I’ll be there. ‘Let’s get ready to Rumble!!!’”

Negotiations directly between the two campaigns could also keep independent and third-party candidates, most notably Robert F. Kennedy Jr., from joining Biden and Trump on the debate stage.

Muzzies have recruited college joo haters to their cause.  It is only a matter of time till Dearbonastan's infect other blue state liberals.

You do know those joo haters are also coming from the far right hate groups? The storm front  folks and such?

The vast majority of those protestors  are paid and are not even students of the unis they are protesting at.  Did you see the interviews at college graduations who were interrupted  by these nutjobs?  99% of the students were pissed off these idiots interrupted their ceremony.

If you think Americas women are going  to go sharia you are full of shite. The women and males there are anarchist-  only .00000000000000001% of the US population.

I actually have relatives outside of  Dearborn and have been there plenty of times since 1982. Those dearbornastansas as call them are only a small segment of the muslim population there.=troublemakers and religious extremist.

I remember Dearborn before the Muslims. It was a dive. Run down, liquor shops every corner. Dirty-litter, graffiti  everywhere. Now it is safe and no liquor stores every corner. All the rundown houses are fixed up. Yards are immaculate. Downtown business is again thriving. Downtown restruants full and thriving.

The crime rate now in Dearborn while I cannot recall the exact # is now lower significantly and dropping.
