Melania Trump cyberbullied over pink dress
by Anna Giaritelli | Sep 20, 2017, 1:34 PM
First lady Melania Trump became a victim of cyberbullies after she donned a hot pink, oversized dress to a United Nations luncheon Wednesday, where she gave a speech about the dangers of bullying.
Trump, a former model, wore a dress by Delpozo, a luxury pret-a-couture fashion brand whose creative direction is overseen by Josep Font.
Trump urged people in her speech to ensure their countries are protecting its most vulnerable populations, children and young adults, from bullying.

{It was pretty bad}
-
Ok, I admit I don't like the dress either, but some people really need to get a life.
I wonder if these same jerks had anything to say when Michelle O. wore some of her get-ups. Probably not.
-
Oh good grief on all parts here.
First of all, that's not cyberbullying. Some random twitter users make a joke about her outfit- welcome to the internet...
And as Applewood mentioned, some people really need to get a life. Whether it was with Michelle Obama (both positive and negative) and now Melania Trump (again, both positive and negative), the obsession with what they wear is just weird. (I think FR even has a First Lady Fashion thread talking daily about her shoes- which is just as bad as the media complaining about her shoes).
Maybe it is because I'm a bloke, but unless is something is way off the wall, we just don't care.
Plus, I've seen some of the people who are critical of both aforementioned first ladies and gals, you have no room to talk. :smokin:
-
Oh no. People who hate the First Lady are hating on the First Lady. Excuse me while I go have the vapors.
-
The dress is bad. No, the dress is horrible. I guess she won't make good fashion choices all the time, but she usually does.
The reactions to the dress were criticism, not "cyber bullying." Why the fake drama?
Any First Lady is going to have her clothing critiqued. But at least Melania isn't a water buffalo who slouches around looking like she just got done scrubbing the floor.

The dress is wrong style, wrong color.... but she usually dresses with class. She must have gotten some Michelle Obama couture advice on this one.

It will be interesting to see whether or not these "fashion forward" sleeves catch on ... The color's beautiful ...

I don't think it's gonna catch on...it also looks too big..I wonder who suggested this dress.....the color may be pretty in person put on tv it was blurred...made her look big with a little head...

Actually a coat? I don't know, but I did find this:
Wearing a hot pink Delpozo coat coordinated with Christian Louboutin stilettos, FLOTUS chose the shade that thousands of activists wore to the Women's Marches earlier this year.

In some pictures, I can see it looking like a coat.

This may be the problem.

She's electric! Melania Trump dons an eye-catching $3,000 neon pink coat to speak about anti-bullying at United Nations luncheon in New York
The 47-year-old first lady condemned bullying while speaking at a luncheon at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York on Wednesday
Melania stood out in a bright pink coat that was a sharp contrast to the demure gray suit she wore the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday
Her $2,950 coat from Delpozo featured voluminous sleeves and a matching wool belt that cinched her waist
Melania paired the simple, yet elegant, coat with matching hot pink pumps and minimal jewelry
The mother-of-one's fashion-forward look caused a stir on Twitter, with people sharing tweets poking fun at Melania's bold ensemble
Some suggested ironically that Melania was being cyberbullied over her outfit

FLOTUS chose the shade that thousands of activists wore to the Women's Marches earlier this year.
It's the shade I'm using to decorate our window at work for the breast cancer awareness month contest. I got poster board that color and cut out a few dozen "pink ribbons."

While I'm a huge fan of hers, the dress is hideous. There's no way around that. Now, compared to Mooch in her Chrysler building dress? Mooch wins the hideousness hands down.

Seriously, though, I'm so glad no one in America has anything more important to complain about than an unattractive pink dress! :pondering:
-
It looks like it is made of heavy cloth; it looks like something more appropriate for November as apparently, it is a coat. Odd sleeves for a coat. Maybe if the hot pink was turned down a notch or two, it would be more palatable.
-
That's hideous!
The color reminds me of the Pepto I need after looking at that dress.

One dress that looks like it was made by Christo. I'll give her a mulligan on that one. And I'm the one who wondered who spilled what on her outfit at the last minute...
I think Melania's selection of ttire has been far better than that of her predecessor, and I'm just not a fan of this outfit. Big deal. She'll have something different on tomorrow, and chances are very good that I will find it more appealing.
-
I don't give a shit about the cut of her coat, but did anybody listen to the speech?

The dress was horrible. She usually looks nice but there have been a handful of times lately she has worn some pretty awful looking outfits that reminded me quite a bit of the type of thing Michelle would wear. I wondered what she was thinking or if she just didn't want to hurt a designer's feelings. I'm not terribly worried about what she is wearing as long as it is modest. I suppose she has to have so many dresses because she can't wear the same thing twice that it is had not to end up with a stinker every once in awhile.
What got my attention, once I put my sunglasses on, was the topic of her speech. My jaw just about hit the floor. Cyberbulling? Is she not aware of her husband's twitter account? Trump is the Bully In Chief for crying out loud.
For the most part, aside from a few ugly dresses which don't really matter all that much, she rarely puts a foot wrong and I can't find much to criticize her for. She always keeps a low profile and doesn't seem interested in sticking her nose into the politics of it all. She seems more inclined to want to keep her child protected. But this speech was definitely bad optics and it wasn't just the dress. But of course the media focused on the neon dress with the big sleeves and completely missed the problem with the speech.
I commend her for being concerned about cyberbullying and children but considering who her husband is it is probably not the best choice for her for activism.

Kim Jong-un is a terrible person, if that is whom you are referring to who has been cyberbullied, I see no problem with that at all. Other names your description might fit might include Hillary Clinton or maybe, some candidate who ran a very dirty campaign per the word of one of the other candidates. That's a rather broad critique on Trump to not specify whom he bullied.

Oh, for starters, Lyin' Ted, and Little Marco, and... Come on Tom do I really need to go on? THe twitornado is almost always hammering someone.
It is an icky outfit. So unlike most of what she wears. If we can't say so, it is time to start sending out fashion snowflake awards.

Thank you, that's helpful. Well, I guess we can all agree then, it is like Rubio said, Cruz ran one of the dirtiest campaigns in recent memory. There must be a mental block with Cruz supporters on this issue; since they seem unable to recognize what is largely acknowledged by everyone else.
Yes, Trump has had unkind comments to Rubio and possibly to Fiorina. I'm not positive if the remarks to Rubio were on twitter or during the debate, articles show that the two exchanged insults.
Campaigning is known to be a dirty game. So, rightfully, we see Trump should. Perhaps the snowflake label should be applied elsewhere.
Not my fault, if Cruz supporters get all upset when one points out what has been roundly reported in the press, dirty tricks and lies. Now, we have that out of the way.
Just like that hurricane bill and saying it was full of pork which it wasn't, and who knows about this porn like off of Cruz's net account, could be another lie saying a staffer did it.
So, sorry if someone sticks up for someone, but of course, now, this has to be dragged into the mud.

The Beck, Cruz, Levin machine have used the smear on others a lot, they've lost their halo and shouldn't think they are above criticism if this is who this is about. They helped make the rules, so don't complain if it goes the other way.

I wonder if Melania can sue the designer (or her stylist) for the sleeves? FWIW, this dress would have been lovely without them.

Cruz-ers show they are decent at cyberbullying themselves, don't criticize the great perfect Mr. Conservative Cruz; is their anything you agree with Cruz on? Or is it typical of all Cruz-ers just to use his name to rip on others?
Maybe you oughtta get two slices of bread, for your dirty talk, can't do better than harass others over free speech?

Sad to say that most of what Melania wears is not appropriate for the occasion.

You said, "{It was pretty bad}"
I don't care what she wears, however, when a dress stands out as gross/terrible, one can't overlook it - she has worn that dress before and I thought she looked swallowed up by the thing. No way would I wear that tent.
Catherine, I think you keep up with what she wears - I'm not reading the posts on this thread to find yours, so what do you think about this abominable dress? If you like it, consider our friendship over. 22222frying pan

No, we can't agree, tom, not in this universe. The dirt came out with every Lyin' ted tweet, and the shitstorm of lies told about Cruz from supposedly "stealing" votes and delegates, to being blamed for ads run by other PACs not associated with the Cruz campaign, to being advertised as having seven mistresses in David Pecker's (a years long pal of Donald's) National Enquirer just in time for the bible belt primaries, to the "Cruz's daddy was Oswald's Pal" smear in time for New England primaries, to the whole crap pile about Heidi "practically writing NAFTA" to the insults hurled at Cruz' wife Every ball of crap that the Trump campaign could hurl got thrown in one of the most extensive and imaginative and well timed smear campaigns in history.
The part that amazed me was that so many alleged conservatives fell for that carney barker crap hook, line, and sinker and turned their backs on a guy with a conservative track record in the Senate for a guy who had contributed to some of the most notorious Democrats in Congress.
You won't change my mind, but from the cheap seats, it was pretty easy to see who was throwing what at who.
