New York Migrant Complains: Not Enough Welfare, Aid

A migrant from the Dominican Republic told reporters that New York’s government is not living up to its promises to help migrants settle in American neighborhoods and to be handed freebies and jobs.

Yaniry Pena spoke through tears to WHEC-TV in a video posted Friday, and blasted officials of New York’s Monroe County for making life much harder than she expected.

According to the report, Pena and her children left their Dominican Republic home and made their way to El Salvador and embarked on a dangerous month and a half trip to the border where they crossed into the U.S.A.

Pena says that she has been traumatized by how she has been treated in New York as she spoke to the news outlet through an interpreter because she speaks no English.

“It’s very traumatic,” the bitter Pena said. “She says it’s been quite traumatic. Everything that has been told to us to come to Monroe County, to Rochester hasn’t been fulfilled.”

Border Patrol agents thwart suspected attempt to smuggle 93 pounds of fentanyl

INDIO, Calif., - Border Patrol agents assigned to the U.S. Border Patrol’s El Centro Sector arrested a woman accused of smuggling approximately 93 pounds of fentanyl pills Tuesday afternoon.

On May 14, at 10:50 a.m., Border Patrol agents operating in fully marked Border Patrol vehicles observed a suspicious blue sedan on Interstate 10. Agents followed the sedan westbound and conducted a vehicle stop near the westbound off-ramp to Golf Center Parkway. A female driver and her teenage son were the sole occupants of the vehicle. A canine detection team trained to detect concealed persons and narcotics arrived on scene and conducted an open-air sniff of the sedan’s exterior. An initial search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a single blue pill. The pill possessed characteristics similar to those of illicit fentanyl pills. Agents proceeded to transport the vehicle to a nearby Border Patrol station for further inspection.

At the station, agents observed suspicious tool markings on the bolts holding the vehicle’s seats in place. The seats were removed, and several large bags were discovered in a non-factory compartment underneath. The bags contained tens of thousands of blue pills like the pill discovered earlier. A sample of the pills tested positive for the presence of fentanyl. The total weight of the fentanyl pills was 93.3 pounds.

Border officials rip Biden’s attempt at last-minute policy changes ‘because it’s election year’
 
YUMA, Arizona — Former and current border officials believe President Biden is making last-minute changes to his administration’s border policies solely to gain votes in the November presidential election.

On May 16, the Biden administration announced it would implement a new expedited asylum adjudication process for migrants who will have their cases heard in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles or New York City, where decisions will be made within 180 days.
 
The president is also said to be weighing an executive order to shut down the border once there are 4,000 crossings per day, sources recently told The Post.

Former President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf, Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot and former Yuma sector Border Patrol chief Chris Clem all told The Post they feel these fixes are just for show, and won’t address problems caused by the last three and a half years of crisis at the southern border.

Oklahoma AG fired back, reminding the DOJ that Biden has spent over three years ignoring the border and federal immigration laws.

President Joe Biden’s DOJ threatened Oklahoma over HB 4156, an immigration bill.

The law makes it a state crime to be in Oklahoma illegally, allows state and local law enforcement to arrest illegal aliens, and requires the illegal aliens to leave within 72 hours after conviction or release from custody.

Brian Boynton, principal deputy assistant attorney general, told Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt and Attorney General Genter Drummond that the state could not enforce HB 4156 due to federal law, which violates the Constitution, compared to the Texas immigration law.

“The United States intends to file suit to enjoin the enforcement of HB 4156 unless Oklahoma agrees to refrain from enforcing the law,” warned Boynton. “The United States is committed to the processing of noncitizens consistent with the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). HB 4156 is contrary to that goal.”

Boynton told Stitt and Boynton that “Congress has established a comprehensive scheme governing noncitizens’ entry and reentry into the United States, including penalties for unlawful entry and reentry.”

The Oklahoma law intends to “create a separate state immigration scheme” with penalties for violating federal laws.
