The White House on Monday walked back a key point of President Donald Trump's unsubstantiated allegation that President Barack Obama wiretapped his phones in Trump Tower during the 2016 election.
Namely, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Trump wasn't referring to wiretapping when he tweeted about wiretapping.....

I always wonder at what point will Spicer go out there and just start cracking up over some of the stupid nonsense he is being forced to spout.
-
Walking Back stuff is Spicer's job, it seems

I don't see what the big deal about it is. If he meant "general surveillance" or whether he indeed, meant to say "wiretapping". Isn't this just more asinine nit-picking over semantics?

Yes.

Ok... wiretapping, surveillance ... show the proof. Apparently they can't; if Trump had the evidence it sure seems they would have come forward with it by now. I thought I had heard on Beck that they had till this afternoon to come forward with the evidence or Congress wasn't going to proceed ... looks like they missed the deadline.

And that's fine with me. I think we have much more important issues to deal with than whether or not Obama wiretapped Trump (and he probably did). It's just another distraction and Trump needs to get his priorities straight.

Trump has the best words, and his words don't mean what they mean. So why are we nit picking over his claim that Obama broke the law?...in fact why should we believe anything he tweets? It's just semantics.

It probably comes down to what the meaning of 'is' is.

Yes. "Wiretapping" is a generic term in the context in which he used it.

Oh I have no doubt (at all) that Obama broke the law. The "law" is whatever his arrogant @ss says it is at any given time, after all. What illegal activities Obama was involved in is now being parsed by his supporters AND by the Trump haters. But whether it's called "surveillance" or "wiretapping"....and whether or not Obama could do it legally or not, it still sets a very bad precedent. A dangerous one. One rivaling the worst in the old KGB days of Soviet Russia. And like I said previously.... it's just another distraction. Meanwhile, our enemies without are plotting to destroy us (with the help of our enemies within).

Then don't. It's not like anyone is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to "believe". Hells bells, we survived eight friggin years with a CIC that I didn't believe a word out of his mouth. Used to it.

It depends upon what the evidence is. The apparent transcript of Michael Flynn's conversation with the Russian Ambassador may be proof that his phone was tapped, but the transcript doesn't prove how it was done or who did it.
I think Trump has evidence of information that could only have came from his office in Trump Towers, but he does not yet know who did it or how it was done.
That Kellyanne talked of "Microwaves" suggests they think it was some sort of passive listening device.

That is not nitpicking. Every American is under surveillance every day. From camera's in parking lots or traffic lights. Phone surveillance, computer surveillance.........etc. Huge difference.
This is surveillance.
https://nsa.gov1.info/surveillance/
Nobody is exempt. But if we are talking surveillance what was Trump upset about?

It is a distraction provided by Trump himself, so thanx for explaining Trumps 5 dimensional chess strategy to reveal our enemies without who are plotting to destroy us (with the help of our enemies within). It gives me great comfort.
I agree that Obama sucked and if that the bar of your standards...Go Trump! But you only get to play that card for so long, cause there's a new sheriff in town, and he has the best words...<insert infowars headline>

Actually I think Spicer needs to be more articulate on this...
Something along the lines of
Trump and Kelly went up the hill
To fetch a Russian favor
Trump fell down with a billion paid down
And Kelly came bumbling after..

The other card being played on talk radio is "at least Hillary's not in the White House." I don't disagree with that, but c'mon people, can't you be a bit more objective than that?
I no longer watch cable news or listen to talk radio, unless my 3 sports stations are all on commercial break. I'm getting ready to drop one of them, simply because they continue to pronounce my alma mater as "Gone-Zahg-uh." It's Gone-ZAG-ah! Just remember, our nickname is usually "the Zags", though our mascot is the bulldog you see in my avatar.
Last but not least, if anyone is interested in learning about the rise of the program, I recommend "Glory Hounds", by Bud Withers. Good info, though much of it is inside basketball to alums like me.

This thread is another amazing demonstration of the degree of self-delusion needed to defend St. Donald from the stupid things he says.

We're only six weeks in, and this clown show is already becoming very tiring.

Worse job in DC. I'd rather be a dishwasher at Friendly's.
