Title: Hurricane Nicole Thread
Post by: libertybele on November 05, 2022, 01:15:50 am
Looking forward to the end of hurricane season.

Hurricane center ups odds for system to form near Florida

The National Hurricane Center forecast an increased chance that a tropical depression or storm could form in the Atlantic and potentially threaten Florida in the next five days.

As of the NHC’s 8 p.m. tropical outlook, forecasters predict a large nontropical low pressure system will develop this weekend over the northeastern Caribbean Sea and southwestern Atlantic near Puerto Rico.

“The system is initially expected to be very broad and disorganized,” forecasters said. “However, it could begin to acquire subtropical or tropical characteristics during the early part of next week, and a subtropical or tropical depression could form during the early to middle portion of next week while the system moves generally westward to west-northwestward over the southwestern Atlantic.”

Chances for formation were increased to 50% on Friday for it to form in the next five days.

Forecasters said there is an “increasing risk” of coastal flooding, gale-force winds and heavy rainfall along much of the southeastern U.S. coast.

If it grows in strength, it could become Tropical Storm Nicole.

The NHC is also continuing to issue advisories on Tropical Depression Lisa now in the Gulf of Mexico while also monitoring a weak nontropical area of low pressure located several hundred miles east of Bermuda with only a 10% chance to form in the next couple of days into a named system in the Atlantic...........

Wouldn't be a bitch if NASA had to roll the SLS back in off the pad again? Of course it would be much worse for the poor Floridians. Do you think anyone will ask why this is happening with all Brandon has done to appease Gaia and her worshipers? I always found it amusing that after eight years of Barry /Brandon it was Trump the liberals blamed for not doing enough to appease Gaia.

Hurricane watch: Subtropical storm eyes Florida, Bahamas

Quote

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Subtropical Storm Nicole is now expected to become a hurricane over the Bahamas before hitting Florida’s east coast on Wednesday, just well enough after polls close to avoid disrupting voting on Election Day, forecasters said.

“We won’t really start to see any significant impacts from Nicole until really Tuesday night to Wednesday, so really it shouldn’t have a huge impact on voting operations tomorrow,” hurricane specialist Phillippe Papin told The Associated Press.

“Unfortunately this is going to be a very large storm, with a very large wind field on the north side. This is going to cause quite substantial surf, potentially dangerous storm surge somewhere along the Florida east coast, and heavy rainfall and probably significant winds over a large area,” Papin added.

Hurricane watches are in effect for the northwestern Bahamas and Florida’s Atlantic Coast from Hallandale Beach, north of Miami, to just north of Daytona Beach, as well as inland to Lake Okeechobee, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory.

On the bright side, historically, systems aiming at FL from the Atlantic side by mid November typically don't grow very large or strong due to cooler gulf stream waters.

Still I see the NHC is forcasting this as a Cat 1 at landfall.  Not sure this has ever happened before....   at least from the Atlantic direction.

Nicole now forecasted to be a minimim Cat 1.  NHC cone is from near Palm Beach to just south of Jacksonville.

Unless dynamics change, this will be more of a hassle than a disaster for the Cane Vets of FL.

Keep watching that cold front dipping down. Past experience say it will push the storm east..hopefully it stays out in the Atlantic.  Also, I see a zero chance of it making it to the GOM...as of now.

This certainly isn't good news for any of Florida. Only a small portion of the east coast will see hurricane force winds, but Ian caused beach erosion on the east coast of FL and Nicole is only going to add to that erosion.

A tremendous amount of debris still lingers in SWFL and winds are a concern; also debris has clogged the ability for streets to drain. This may only be a tropical storm once it reaches this area, but it's going to have an impact.

This year many Florida beaches got pummeled. Let's hope we don't see anymore storms for the rest of the year and we see many idle years ahead of us.

That happens to PCH out here in California every almost every time we get a rainstorm that most of you would consider a drizzle. It sure seems that Florida is getting more than it's share of grief this year, prayers for those affected. At least you have a good governor to make sure things get fixed quickly, I can't even imagine the Fustercluck Noisome would make of things here in California!

I'm in Richmond, Va., right now. Got a little rain but to the west they're getting hammered plus there are tornado warnings.

Edit to add: not sure whether we're under a tornado watch or warning. Excitement prevails.

Edit: It's a warning. I've left my 9th floor hotel room for the lobby. Everyone seems calm. I'll give it a few more minutes.
