FORT WORTH, Texas (Tribune News Service) — President Donald Trump said Monday that Lockheed Martin has trimmed about $600 million in cost from the next contract for the F-35 joint strike fighter program.

Speaking with reporters at the White House, Trump said the savings apply to 90 planes involved in the next lot, or government contract, which has been under negotiation for months.

Trump, who has publicly criticized Lockheed on Twitter since his election and called the program costs “out of control” just last month, now says the program is “in great shape” and called the F-35 “a great plane.”

No, it will not because the driving down of costs has been a huge priority to all of the contractors involved, even before his tweets...but that gets in the way of the narrative that the F35 is a POS and needs canx.

That Trump was finally EDUCATED on what was going AFTER he posted his ignorant tweets demonstrates that one always needs to wait and see what the actual truth is.

The knee jerk responses to his twittering will cause many folks to require knee reconstruction after his term.

It is easy to imagine his tweets after learning about the negotiations already under way to lower the price, in order to claim credit for it, after it is announced.
