Pelosi: After Election Dems Will Ditch Filibuster to Legalize Abortion Nationally

Pam Key 29 Apr 2024

Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Monday on MSNBC’s “Katy Tur Reports” that if the Democrats win majorities in Congress and the White House, they will ditch the filibuster to legalize abortion nationwide.

Pelosi said, “People have to view abortion as a democracy issue. This is about freedom to make your own decisions for a woman. It’s a personal decision, it’s an economic decision at the kitchen table of America’s families, if and when they could expand their families or even start their families.”

Tur asked, “Do you think it’s going to be a more powerful issue at the ballot box this time around?”

Pelosi said, “Well, it is because the fact is that no matter what he says, there will be a national abortion ban, and that would be horrible for our country.”

She continued, “We have to win it all. We have to win the White House, with our great president of the United States, Joe Biden, who has a vision for America that is in keeping with the vision of our founders, the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, the aspirations of our children and their families.”

Tur asked, “If President Biden gets reelected and there’s a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate, what can President Biden do to protect abortion nationwide?”

Pelosi said, “We can enshrine into the law Roe v. Wade.”

Tur said, “That would take two-thirds in the Senate.”

She continued, “No it doesn’t. It’s 60 votes is the Senate now but if we win 50-plus-1 in the Senate, 50 plus the vice president, we can overturn the 60-vote rule.”

Tur said, “The filibuster.”

Pelosi said, “The filibuster and pass it with a 51-vote margin. That’s what we need to do.”

17 States Challenge EEOC Rule Making Employers Accommodate Workers’ Abortions

Katherine Hamilton 29 Apr 2024

Seventeen Republican-led states are suing President Joe Biden’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for forcing employers across the United States to accommodate workers’ abortions.

Attorneys general filed the lawsuit on Friday following the EEOC’s decision to include abortion in the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA). The PWFA passed with bipartisan support in 2022 and did not include language about abortion. Instead, the law was created to allow reasonable workplace accommodations for pregnant and postpartum mothers such as time off and flexible breaks, unless the accommodation would result in an undue hardship for the employer.

“This is yet another attempt by the Biden administration to force through administrative fiat what it cannot get passed through Congress,” Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin said in a statement. “Under this radical interpretation of the PWFA, business owners will face federal lawsuits if they don’t accommodate employees’ abortions, even if those abortions are illegal under state law. The PWFA was meant to protect pregnancies, not end them.”

“The new rule, passed by a bare 3-2 majority of unelected EEOC commissioners, goes beyond what Congress authorized under the PWFA,” Griffin added.

When Congress passed the PWFA, it tasked the EEOC with issuing the rule and providing examples of reasonable accommodations. The EEOC’s final rule includes abortion in its definition of accommodating employees who have “limitations related to … pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions” and applies the rule to public and private businesses with 15 or more employees.

The EEOC claimed that the final rule “does not require any employee to have — or not to have — an abortion, does not require taxpayers to pay for any abortions, and does not compel health care providers to provide any abortions. The PWFA also cannot be used to require an employer-sponsored health plan to pay for or cover any particular item, procedure, or treatment, including an abortion.”

Jamaal Bowman ‘Fully’ in Favor of Resettling Gaza Migrants in U.S.

Elizabeth Weibel 29 Apr 2024

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) expressed his full “support” for the United States to “bring in” Palestinian refugees from Gaza.

During an interview with a reporter from Yonkers Voice, Bowman said the U.S. is a “land of immigrants” and “asylum seekers” that has always opened its “doors to immigrants,” saying, “ fully support that,” in response to a question regarding the U.S. opening its doors to migrants from Gaza.

“Should the United States bring in people from Gaza?” the reporter asked Bowman.

“We are a land of migrants, and we are a land of asylum seekers — anyone escaping persecution and oppression and violence — the United States has always been an open home to those people,” Bowman answered:

So, whether they’re coming from Palestine, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, [or] Haiti, they’re coming here to contribute to our economy, which 99.9 percent of them are. We’ve always been a place to open our doors to immigrants coming here, so, yeah, I fully support that.

We own and breed English Setters. If you do not know they are bird dogs/ gun dogs. They are high maintenance dogs and need lots and lots of daily exercise.
Most of our adolescent setters run like nuts and do not listen. Why we do extensive training with them.
Once trained they are  the perfect dog

Noem failed her dog, not the other way around

Every perversion known to mankind is being embraced and gradually legalized.

Perversions are not just being legalized, they are being MANDATED!
7
Yep.  I for one like dogs better than most humans.  This makes Noem a no-go for me.

I once knew a guy at work who was saying that his dog
(large, 7 years old) was becoming a danger to his children,
so he was going to have to put it down.
The Vietnamese guy said, "I'll take it!"

Mr. DeSantis is wise to mend the fences with Mr. Trump.

I agree about him NOT being picked as VP candidate right now.

His work is still cut out for him in Florida, especially with the looming "abortion initiative" that will be on the ballot in November. Granted, Mr. DeSantis' efforts probably won't decrease the leftist vote, but he needs to work on keeping at least some of the "female Republican vote" concentrated on "the rest" of the Republican ticket, even if some of them vote FOR the amendment (I feel confident in predicting that a surprising number of women Republicans WILL do exactly that).

The message to Republican women should be:
"It was because of Mr. Trump and the Republicans -- who succeeded in getting a conservative majority on the Supreme Court -- that you, the women of Florida, have won the freedom and responsibility to decide this issue for yourselves. Remember that when you make your mark for the Republican candidates in front of you."

Please let this happen.  Hunter Biden testifying under oath in open court?  YES!
