Lawyer Who Raised $1.2 Mil for Obama, Becomes Ambassador, Ruins Relations w/Czech Republic

Apparently appointing people as ambassadors to countries because they gave you a bunch of money does not produce good results. So much for that smart, smart power.
Czech President Milos Zeman says he has “closed” the door of Prague Castle, the seat of the country’s presidency, to the U.S. ambassador because of comments he made about Zeman’s planned trip to Moscow.
U.S. Ambassador Andrew Schapiro told Czech television last week that it would be “awkward” if Zeman were the only EU head of state to attend a May 9 ceremony in Moscow marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Zeman told the news site Parlamentni Listy that he “can’t imagine” the Czech ambassador in Washington giving advice to an American president about “where to travel.”
Zeman said that because of Andrew Schapiro’s critical comments about Zeman’s trip, “the door to the castle [is] closed” for him.
Zeman has been a bold and courageous figure in a declining West. While I can’t approve of his trip, it’s ridiculously hypocritical for the bagboy of a corrupt administration that came toadying to Moscow with a Reset Button to put on airs.
And let’s recall how Obama’s bagboy/ambassador got the job.
Obama has nominated attorney Andrew Schapiro, one of his former Harvard Law School classmates and a prolific fundraiser for the president, to be the next U.S. ambassador to the Czech Republic.
For his part, Schapiro, along with his wife, Tamar Newberger, has raised at least $700,000 for Obama over the years, including at least $500,000 during the 2012 campaign, records show. Internal campaign documents obtained by the New York Times put the figure more than $1.26 million since 2007.
There’s so much dirt here, it would take a vacuum cleaner the size of Texas to clean it up.

That is one of the enduring "features" of ambassadors. For every good one there is always a political hack who got appointed because they raised money for the president who appointed them.

Under Obama, it's probably more like 25:1 political hacks v. good ones.
