Title: Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg 'considering running for London Mayor'
Post by: EC on April 05, 2015, 03:00:21 pm
Wait, WHAT! Conservatives think this is a good idea?!!

The outgoing Mayor of New York is considering running in the London mayoral election next year, according to reports.

The Sunday Times claims Michael Bloomberg, who was elected as mayor for the Big Apple three times in a row, is being urged by friends to run as the Conservative candidate in the London mayoral contest in 2016.

Mr Bloomberg, 73, has claimed London feels like his “second home” and has many admirers in the Tory party, including current Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

It comes after Mr Johnson joked in an interview after he visited New York that the pair could “swap” jobs.

The Sunday Times claims Mr Bloomberg, founder and chief executive of Bloomberg LP, could be “fast-tracked” to the position because of his significant investment in UK business.

Steve Hilton, a senior advisor to David Cameron, told The Sunday Times: “It would be an incredible coup for London if Mike Bloomberg could be persuaded to run for Mayor here.

 :tongue2:
Oscar Levant (or perhaps George Burns, depending on your source) had a good quip about Milton Berle leaving Judaism and joining the Christian Science movement, which is appropriate for this as well:

“Our loss is their loss.”

Seriously, you tried to order a 32 oz soda here you would get a pitying and slightly disbelieving look. That's nearly a liter.

Sadly, I found that out when I was there, that WAS the look they gave me!  The first thing I got when we landed in the airport here was a large soda - I missed that more than anything!
