Biden goes into twisted rant to Black voters, gaslights over ‘peaceful’ George Floyd protests
May 30, 2024 | Frieda Powers

President Joe Biden continued to gaslight black voters as he claimed his White House rival once wanted to “tear gas” them as they “peacefully” protested during the 2020 George Floyd riots.

The 81-year-old Democrat was joined by Vice President Kamala Harris as they kicked off their “Black Voters for Biden-Harris” initiative, appearing at a mostly black boarding school in Philadelphia where Biden spun his tales.

He thanked black voters for helping him secure the 2020 presidential nomination and spoke about how they “shared” values that got him involved in politics as a kid.

Turning his attacks on former President Donald Trump, Biden gave attendees at the Girard College event an earful of malarkey.

“Let me ask you: What do you think he would’ve done on January 6 if black Americans had stormed the … think about this,” Biden said referring to the events at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

“What do you think would have happened if black Americans had stormed the Capitol? I don’t think he’d be talking about pardons. This is the same guy who wanted to tear gas you as you peacefully protested George Floyd’s murder,” he added, referring to the 2020 protests and demonstrations in cities such as Philadelphia after Floyd, 46, died while in Minneapolis police custody.

Progressives care more about Global Climate Change, Gaza, and registering illegal immigrants to vote than they care about African-Americans, or any American for that matter.

Black Lives Matter is just a sign for suburban lawns.

My first thought was that a guilty verdict would have been found yesterday, within hours of the jury getting the case. Kinda like the OJ trial.
The fact that there’s a day two of deliberations gives some hope.
I think it will end in a hung trial. But I could be wrong.

I too expected a quick verdict.  The fact that the jurors have requested bits of information from the trial makes me at least think that there are those questioning testimony.  To me that is a positive sign.

Continued prayers for Trump that justice will prevail.

Summers: Costs That Aren’t Included in Cost of Living Measurements Have ‘Gone Way Up’

On Wednesday’s broadcast of NPR’s “Here and Now,” Harvard Professor, economist, Director of the National Economic Council under President Barack Obama, and Treasury Secretary under President Bill Clinton Larry Summers stated that “the cost of money,” something that isn’t included in cost of living measurements “has gone way up with higher interest rates.” And that’s a good explanation for why people are dissatisfied with the economy.

Summers said that while we have a “good economy in most respects,” “the difficulty is with the cost of living, as people are experiencing it. It’s true that inflation is relatively low, but prices are still much higher than they were a few years ago, even if they’re now growing more slowly. And what I’ve emphasized in my own research, is that the cost of money, which is not something that is counted in the traditional price index, has gone way up with higher interest rates. Most people who buy cars have a monthly car payment, and that’s what they look at, not the inflation rate or the price of a car.”

He added, “I’m saying the price of everything, even if grocery prices used to be going up 10% and now they’re going up 5%, they’re still going up from a level that’s too high. The second point is that interest costs, which are very important to people as their monthly payment on their house or their monthly payment on their credit card, don’t show up in the Consumer Price Index, they’re not counted as part of the cost of living. And once you take account of interest rates, you get much more of a sense of why people are not feeling so great about the economy right now.”

When people struggle to put food on their tables, a roof over their heads, and are falling short each month and are relying on credit cards to make ends meet, no the economy doesn't match the cost of living. That's a real problem. Rent is sky high, mortgage interest rates have risen as has gas, taxes, food, insurance, and utilities.  Not by just a little, but by a lot.

The article mentions that prices are now not going up as quickly.  That may be but they are still climbing. Prices never come down and shrinkflation has reared its ugly head.

What does the economy look like with a cost of living adjustment?   Add inflation to that and the economy isn't so great.

Comparing the cost of living and economy now to when Brandon first took office.  That's what people are feeling.

We now know the floating dock can float ... away.

Let the Arab League build them an artificial harbor with all their oil money.

A temporary structure broke loose. Well, it IS a temporary structure. Any floating dock that can't be pulled up on shore for storms is temporary.

Our Revolutionary Times › American Greatness
The results of all these revolutions will shake up the U.S. for decades to come.

Sometimes unexpected but dramatic events tear off the thin veneer of respectability and convention. What follows is the exposure and repudiation of long-existing but previously covered-up pathologies.

Events like the destruction of the southern border over the last three years, the October 7 massacre and ensuing Gaza war, the campus protests, the COVID-19 epidemic and lockdown, and the systematic efforts to weaponize our bureaucracies and courts have all led to radical reappraisals of American culture and civilization.

Since the 1960s, universities have always been hotbeds of left-wing protests, sometimes violently so.

But the post-October 7 campus eruptions marked a watershed difference.

Masked left-wing protestors were unashamedly and virulently anti-Semitic. Students on elite campuses especially showed contempt for both middle-class police officers tasked with preventing their violence and vandalism and the maintenance workers who had to clean up their garbage.

Mobs took over buildings, assaulted Jewish students, called for the destruction of Israel, and defaced American monuments and commentaries.

How a Trump guilty verdict could affect his ability to vote in November

.

With former President Donald Trump staring down a possible felony conviction this week, his ability to vote for himself in November could be stripped away.

An estimated 4.4 million people, or 2% of the electorate, were unable to vote in the 2022 elections because of felony convictions on their records, according to the Sentencing Project. New York and Florida are among the 48 states that prohibit certain felons from voting. If Trump is convicted, it raises the possibility that he could not cast a vote in November for himself or for anyone, for that matter.

However, experts speaking with NBC News hold that the possibility is unlikely.

Regarding the New York hush money case, “the only way he wouldn’t be able to vote is if he is in prison on Election Day,” Campaign Legal Center attorney Blair Bowie said.

Trump isn’t unique in that he is battling a lawsuit outside the state in which he would cast a vote. Florida doesn’t prevent all felons convicted outside the state from voting. Instead, it defers to state laws where the person is convicted.

In New York, felons can’t vote while they are behind bars, but as soon as they leave prison, they can cast a ballot again.

Even if Trump is convicted and sentenced to time in prison, the lengthy appeals process is all but guaranteed to ensure his sentence would be pushed back beyond the election.

If the runner on second was called out for interference, then there can be no infield fly rule out following that!

The only thing I can think of...whether or not it is an automatic infield fly rule, a baserunner cannot come into physical contact or block the path of an infielder attempting to make a defensive play.

PS:  Hope the Orioles exceed the AL East Pennant or Wildcard race by more than 1 game.
