The U.S. states Texas and Minnesota issued the proclamations of commemoration of victims of Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine and recognition of this tragedy as the genocide of Ukrainian people.

As the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States reports, Mayor of Austin, Texas, the Honorable Steve Adler, issued a proclamation declaring November 10, 2018 as Holodomor Remembrance Day.

The proclamation states: “This year marks the 85th anniversary of the little known man-made genocide catastrophe of the 20th century known as the Holodomor in Ukraine.”

The governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton issued a proclamation declaring October 28, 2018 as Ukrainian Famine Memorial Day.

Heard about this earlier. Oct. 28th in MN and Nov. 10th in TX.

Not sure how many other states have done this. There is suppose to be a memorial in Chicago. So, probably a few other states.

This seems like a valuable expenditure of time and money for these states. It's not like they have any other local issues to deal with....

Ukraine=home to "Kievan Rus," a people from which the name "Russia" is based.

The Kievan Rus, were ruled for awhile by Vaarangians (Vikings), primarily from Sweden.

I once knew a proud woman from Canada (Sask or Mani), that said her Ukrainian people despised the USSR, for their treatment of Ukraine/Ukrainians.
