Just having some fun. What do you all plan on doing this long 4th of July weekend.
Up to five choices per person. Guests can vote too.
No matter what you do, have a wonderful 4th of July.
And I hope you all liked the emojis in the title.
:yowsa:

I must also confess I’m a fan of Joey Chestnut. Why oh why do I watch that dang thing?
-
Family reunion. Hope that fits under the BBQ and picnics thing because that's how I voted.

That sounds like so much fun. My family isn’t getting together , my sister is out of state and my mom is hanging out with some other people she knows.
I’m thinking of going to fireworks if it doesn’t rain but rain is expected and Wednesday I’m donating blood at a local blood drive

My mother's side of the family does this every 4th of July. Been attending them all my life and never fail to meet a new (to me) relative. Great fun!

Probably grill ribs on the barbie, blow off some fireworks and perhaps watch a few movies.

Watching movies? I can watch movies any time. The fourth for me is a time for friends, family, children, and being outdoors all day. I'll likely be burned like a lobster on the 5th, but I don't care. Fun in the sun is what it is all about. Hope I can stay awake long enough for fireworks. We shall see.

My daughter, was born on July 4th.
I remember driving that night, from the hospital to my inlaws home afterwards. Fireworks going off against the sky.
We have celebrated every year with food, fireworks, fun.

Impressive, @thackney !
I'm going to bbq some ribs and then go sit in the back of the pickup truck with many of my neighbors in their pickup trucks in the town park while the children run around until it's dark enough for the fireworks to start. Then everyone loads up sleepy children and goes home. Pretty perfect.

Our first 4th with a Yorkie we adopted last year. I have no idea on how he'll react. Yippily, I'm sure. :terror:
-
Will be working.
-
Have no real idea what I'm doing on the 4th. No plans with family and/or friends.
@Millee
My last cat was afraid of fireworks, but he would try to be brave. He would sit next to me on the sofa, ostensibly to protect me. But in reality, I had to reassure him.
In this neighborhood, where nearly everyone is on some kind of government assistance, yet they all seem to have fireworks -- a few have already started shooting them off. Maybe if I'm lucky, they will run out of fireworks and not have any left for the 4th.
-
Hopefully...I'll get to stay home and not have to drive to my brother's to see his new house.
I eat ribs once a year (cholesteral and all that other health junk), scalloped potatoes and corn on the cob. Oh and bakery cherry pie with ice cream. I just hear Dr. No and Nurse Nazi having a fit even today. I'll sit outside when it gets dark and watch the fireworks at a nearby marina.
On the 5th...A friend brought me some fresh catfish (well it was when I froze it) and I'm FRYING it. And the leftover veggies from the 4th.
After all, it's all about the food. :) I hope I don't have to go to my brother's, I'm looking forward to this.

Fireworks are legal in your area?
Not in mine, but I can drive over a few blocks and be okay there.
I probably won't do that this year, but I've done it before.

I am in a rural area outside city limits. Neighbors are hundreds or thousands of feet apart.
Our biggest concern is frightening our own horses.
I still contact the neighbors to let them know in advance, and invite them to watch from their yard or ours.

A Thunder Shirt works for our dog, but not the cat....

We're doing the beer and fireworks thing. I have some of my own fireworks, and the professional display Laughlin puts on across the river looks fantastic from the bedroom deck of the Castle. They had one Saturday night, too and they were awesome!
The beer is courtesy of the Castle private bar. Maybe some Canadian Whiskey to wash it down, eh?

In the government assistance neighborhoods in Phoenix, the favorite firecracker comes in 9mm.

I can't remember where, probably PA, but around 20 years (maybe a bit more), there was a state where you could buy fireworks in stands by the border, but you had to have an out of state DL. Or something like that. The details are a little froggy, but they were happy to sell them, as long as you took them away.
Might have been that place right on the NC/SC line?

Oh, we have those too. In fact, this happened in another gimmedat neighborhood in western PA:
Police seek person who fired gun at fireworks show
UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) - State police are seeking the person who fired a gun during a fireworks show at a mall in western Pennsylvania.
Police were called to the Uniontown Mall just before 10 p.m. Sunday, but the person who fired the shot was gone.

There were (maybe still are) a few of those places at the NC/SC line on I-95.... South of the Border was the name of one of them...

That's the place I was thinking of, I'm just not sure if it was one of the places that only sold fireworks "for export".
It's funny how the older memories get cloudy the younger I get.

It isn't lost on me that no one prefers my Polls, you bunch of ungrateful bishes. wink777

Oh, I don't know, I was thinking about firing off some explosives from off the top of my head. (at 1:54)

But seriously, I'll probably attend the local demolition derby (or maybe the rodeo, not sure), watch some fireworks, kick back and enjoy the holiday.
(Though I didn't notice it and didn't vote for it, I might watch the hot dog contest too. 'Murica.)

Most of the ordinances against fireworks are city ordinances here (not to be confused with ordnance, such as firepower, and fireworks).
@thackney is in an unincorporated part of his county.
We live in the city limits of Sugar Land, where it is illegal to shoot them off.
Driving back and forth to work in Katy each day, I pass a few fireworks stands that are in unincorporated county areas.
I can buy them, I just can't light 'em off at home.
I can guarantee that won't stop a lot of our town-folk.
-
As always, we are getting together at the big house for the festivities...
My brother and his have already landed...
My sister and hers won't be here till the day of.
Burgers, hot dogs, and this year, via my sister, genuine Portabellos ribs, straight from Chicago... Might even still be hot. Tater salad, all kinds of sides, watermelon, and the whole nine yards.
And fireworks after dark. We're the biggest show on the west side of the valley.
I'm bringing crab salad, chili, corn bread, and a dirt cake for the kids.
Gonna be a high old time, as always - The best wingding we throw all year...
But I have to be home before the fireworks actually start, because Chewy will lose his mind.

Why not some fine Virginia bourbon instead?

Reminds me of The Salt Lick, the only restaurant I can remember that lets you BYOB (dry county).

I can shoot off just about anything... But some things we cannot buy... Like M80s...
But I can get them down on the rez.

Hayes is no longer a dry county (it was really the precinct that Driftwood is in, not the whole county). Enough furriners moved in and voted the dry part out.
-
We purchase and set off fireworks for the benefit of agricultural operations to scare off birds and other pest animals.
-
We're visiting some good conservative friends who have people over every year for the 4th. We'll just sit around and eat. I still need to do a fruit plate. Watermelon, strawberries and blueberries are chilling as we speak.

Mom and I are having salmon burgers
