Coffee vs. Tea: Which One Is Better for You?
Kimberly Holland
4/8/2019
What’s good about coffee?
“Coffee has been linked to decreased risk of Parkinson’s disease and type 2 diabetes,†says Kimberly Gomer, MS, RD, LDN, director of nutrition at the Pritikin Longevity Center & Spa in Miami.
It’s also been shown to lower the risk of some cancers, including endometrial cancer and non-melanoma skin cancer. A study of more than 500,000 people across the world concluded that coffee drinking was associated with reduced risk of death from various causes. This was even true in people who drank as many as eight cups per day!
Just don’t load up your morning joe with sugar and cream or you may erase the good benefits entirely. These signs suggest you may be drinking too much coffee.
What’s good about tea?

They knew at work not to talk to me until I've had several cups of coffee.
Iced tea for lunch. Then back to coffee thru the afternoon.

I love the smell of coffee, but I cannot drink it. Unfortunately I can taste a bitter component in it that most people can't, and I can't get past that and cannot get used to it. Strange thing, though --- that bitter component does not carry through to liqueurs, so Kahlua is just fine. I can also handle the bitter if coffee is a minor component, such as mocha (with mostly chocolate) or tiramisu.

Coffee in the morning,

I was the butt of a good natured joke, in the oil field office. There were two coffee pots on the counter, and somebody directed me to one with "coon ass" coffee.
Them old boys howled, when I got a mouth full of chickory coffee.

For a while we had a "Macho Coffee Club" going at work with one of those espresso pots and a hot plate. It really satisfied my caffeine addiction until Larry set the hot plate too close to his cubicle wall and almost set the place on fire.
At one time our coffee club was generating so much of a surplus of funds that the coffee mgr starting setting up a keg of beer at a park close by every Friday after work until the overage was brought down.

Four or five cups in the morning and I'm good to go!

Coffee in the mornings, before I try to talk to anyone or operate heavy machinery. Then iced tea all day for most of the year, hot tea if it's cold.

After two or three cups of strong coffee (with cream) in the morning, I go caffeine-free the rest of the day, which includes herbal teas.
