Without Any Confirmation, MSNBC Promotes Claim Chicago Attackers Wore MAGA Hats [UPDATED]

UPDATE, 7:44 p.m. Eastern: ABC News is reporting that police conducted a follow-up interview with Smollett and that he informed them the alleged attackers did use the “this is MAGA country†phrase. Turns out, the Daily Beast stealth-edited their post to remove the excerpt mentioned in the original version of this post to remove a passage about having spoken to Chicago Police in which they stated they had no evidence of that phrase being used. Thus far, the portion about MAGA hats has not been proven true.

Empire star Jesse Smollett was brutally attacked early Tuesday morning in Chicago in what police have suggested could be deemed a hate crime due to Smollett being gay and the assailants allegedly hurling homophobic and racist slurs.
However, one such claim that has not yet been substantiated was the notion that the alleged perpetrators either wore Make America Great Again (MAGA) hats or shouted “this is MAGA country†to Smollett as he was beaten, doused in bleach, and had a noose tied around his neck. Despite that, the 1:00 p.m. Eastern edition of MSNBC Live mentioned it anyway.

Talk about jumping to conclusions. They don't even know if he was actually attacked by anyone.
This thing smells to high heaven of another hoax.
The alleged attackers were hanging around a Subway at 2 am on a bitterly cold, sub-zero morning carrying a noose and a bottle of bleach, wearing MAGA hats, and waiting for Smollet? Then yelling this is MAGA country in a hardcore lib city where wearing a hat like that can you killed?
Sure, tell me another one. And I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell to you.
Of course all the lib outlets ran with this story without hesitation. A perfect counter story to the Covington boys case, wouldn't you say? Timed just perfectly.

This is the latest news, "My friends heard the racial or homophobic slurs I was called on the phone but I won't turn my phone over to the police", this is close to the icing on the cake that this is faked. There is no reason to believe his story. I don't know if he was even hurt much. I heard something about having acid thrown at him??
And the other update is his family is coming out and saying 'Yes, we believe him'.

Faking a 'hate crime' is a Great way to get free publicity for some 3rd rate no-name 'star'. And MSNBC as a propaganda channel for the Left, will always go with it regardless of any evidence or facts.
IF? it happened at all, my first guess would be that it was other Black people who did it. These stories almost always turn out that way. But even if this is proved, MSNBC will report that he was attacked by White-Blacks. You know, like Zimmerman was a White-Hispanic.

I understand. But in this case it is really not like that. He went to the Police, they didn't come to him. The Police are only asking for anything to help them solve the crime that he reported. If he is withholding evidence to help them solve the crime, then that is very suspicious. It would seem that he prefers his 'story' over finding out what actually happened, if anything did happen at all.

Absolutely, the police are investigating a crime, you and Buck Sexton are both correct. What's next? Report a burglary and request the police get a search warrant before coming in?
Especially if this is part of the testimony, it's probably evidence in that sense, if you don't want to give it in because you think they will monkey with it, document it somehow, recordings? I betcha they don't have recordings.

Might be some "rough trade." Might be a person or person of different ethnicities. But they want their money....or else. Maybe Smollet didn't want to pay the "proper" price, and things went south.
Or maybe he just did it to himself because his boy friend wouldn't accommodate him for the evening.

If you claim you were racially or homophobically attacked by people and tell police, my friends heard it on the cell phone, there is a compelling reason that the police would want it. Okay, the police are not interested in hearing a recording, that would not exist but I guess, phone records exist. One would ask those records to be submitted at a minimum.
